I'm so glad to know him. He graduated high school a year after me and we both studied with Carl Mottola in Philly. Carl would bring him to Temple to play for us music students (when he was in high school!). His talent is truly one in a trillion

Man I love Ari's playing. By far one of the best jazz drummers on planet erf today. Sophisticated but at the same time completely accessible... Now the UV1 head. I agree, it's more durable. I ran one on one of my snares for about a month and a half. When I took it off and examined the wear it was clearly more durable than any coated head I've ever played in 25+ years. Spot on, kudos, well done Evans (per usual). But why did I take it off? It had a little too much attack and lacked the warmth that I prefer and get from other Evans heads. It's a preference thing. Something my ears couldn't get around. Tone will supercede all other head features for me I guess. But I'm sure many out there will find it fits just fine with their sound. The keyword is durable. Durability = more bang for the buck. So if the elusive durable coated head is what you're after then these are definitely worth the try.

Hey Aaron! Thanks so much for watching the video. Glad you enjoyed it. Regarding the UV1 you tried, we're glad to hear that it met your expectations as far as durability goes. Many drummers are choosing it for the wide tuning range and the warmth of tone. Of course, that's all relative to the drum it's being used on and the setup (bottom snare head choice and tension, snare wire choice and tension, etc.). At the end of the day, it really does come down to subjective preference. Thanks for experimenting!

I got to see him live about 10 yr.s ago in a small club---- Love his playing-- genuine troll style---- nothing like him anywhere else on earth.

Ya man, nice. DIGGING. I've been using the UV !'s since they first came out on my toms and snare, LOVE THEM!!! Glad to hear Evans is now offering UV 1 for bass drum. Can't wait to try it out on my little 16 bass and for my 20 inch too. Keep swinging brothers and sisters.....all good things!

Ari is One of the greatest, a unique voice. ❤️No cymbals were injured during the making of this video...

I've watched this 5 times and I'm still not sure if this is real life or I've slipped into some magical dimension .

The ad worked: I may have to give these heads a try now! Everything about this is fantastic. Also, for those who may not yet know...that cymbal set of Ari's...as if baked and hammered by the gods themselves. I want to be buried with mine.

My new set of UV1'S (snare, toms, eq4 bass) will be here tomorrow and I am SO pumped to play them. I'm not a fan of 2 ply heads nor tape/moon gel and I like a bit of overtone but with a degree of controll. G12s and Calftones have served me well for this purpose but both have some short comings for my needs, the UV1s seem like a perfect fit (and they will literally be a perfect fit because Level 360 is the bee's knees)

OMG the drumkick makes me goosebumps, it sounds perfect, without any harmonics !
