Seamus is a great guy. St John's University Staten Island campus, late 80's. He's a student. Nice guy, frat member, see him walking around campus. Suddenly, he's fighting Holyfield. This is a "Rocky' story. I went to the fight and had a blast. Seamus, thank you for the memory and gutsy fight.

I know what you mean. Holyfield was just too good, he even made Buster Douglas, Mike Tyson,Ray Mercer fights look easy. Not surprising Evander Holyfield is the only boxer who has won World Heavyweight Championship 4 times. Nobody can say the boxers who face Evander Holyfield in the ring are any less boxers.

@@donnn-ow4rj Hell no it wasn't easy, that was his first fight after having retired from the heart condition after the Moorer II fight. Holy became the 1st man to knock Mercer down (he took a knee after one of those Holy left hooks) but that fight was nip and tuck and Holyfield just barely edged it with the knockdown. Then in Mercer's next fight he went pillar to post vs. Lennox, and I thought he deserved the decision in a great fight.

It was a stay busy fight bc Tyson was just derailed by Douglas and now he has to wait to fight Douglas. McDounagh own dad told him not to take the fight. He's on the podcast talking about it. He was actually a decent fighter, just not anywhere near experienced or good enough to rumble with Real Deal.

He was a cruiser weight, wasn't natural heavy enough. Keep in mind, Evander is older than Tyson, so it doesn't matter when he fought Tyson, when he did he won.

@@deadpoo4707 it does matter. Their age doesn’t as they were both at a decent age when they fought. Tyson late 20s Holy early 30s. Difference is Tyson had spent 4 years out the ring serving a prison sentence. Tyson had only boxed 7 rounds by the time he fought Holy. Holy had boxed 107 rounds while Mike was inside! That’s the big difference. Just check when Ali was beaten by Frazier. Ali 3 years inactivity only 2 fights to prepare and paid the price. Ali never had rematch with Frazier for 3 years and 10 more fights later! People forget this.

Actually, when Tyson was the champion, he signed to fight Holyfield. All Tyson had to do was beat Buster Douglas, which was supposed to be a warmup for the Holyfield fight that was scheduled for June of that year. Holyfield never ducked anyone.

Holy field charging, wrestling at the start like that?? Then low blowing and isn't Holyfield one of the most ped taking boxers ever? I never heard of McDonagh yet the yt channel claims he was "high class". Maybe they were trying to be funny. This fella seemed to do everything else but boxing. "In 1989 he danced with the brothers of EXY as "The Blues Brothers East", doing a half-time routine for the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden. They also performed for St. John's University basketball team at Alumni Hall. Later that year he won "Rusty Staub's" famous rib eating competition representing Madison Square Garden. He obtained an honors degree in English Literature St. John's University. " 'I said hit the ribs not eat them'. Within a year of all that non boxing stuff he fought Holyfield. Late 89 he won a rib eating competition and early 1990 he took the Holyfield fight.
