Someone plz clear my doubt. The current EVs may become obsolete in half a decade. Companies say when the time of battery replacement comes say after 8 yrs or 10 yrs.. would the manufacturers still be making the batteries that are being used today 10yrs down the line. Or could it so happen that the future batteries can be retrofitted into current generation cars?? If only cells are going to be changed not the whole pack as suggested by many, then how big of a question mark will be there on the integrity of the pack after the reassembly with new cells

@@Whatamidoinhere2010 I don't think we will switch to new battery technology that fast. Sodium ion, and other salt batteries are still in development phase and until lithium supplies are there, li ion batteries will be available and ready for swap. Also your doubt that replacing old cells with new cells, no, the replacement works just like a new one and doesn't hamper the battery quality. Also to be very Frank I would like to say it you plan on very less kilometres of drive then better go for and IC engine (until it's available) EVs are meant to be driven not kept at garage. Use EV as primary as up that odo as much as possible if you want to get benefit from EV.

Aur mere dost ye kyu bhul rahe ho ki jaroori nahi battery kharab hogi hi, han thodi Life aur backup Kum hoga jaroor par aise battery kharab nahi hoti aur uska v resale value hei agar out of warranty third party se replace karwaoge to. Next half decade me wese v initial EV buyers ka warranty claims ana chalu hoga to humko actual data to tab hi milega aur tab tak bohot third party vendors ayenge battery market me.

Battery pack has Voltage, Ampere and C rating as part of its specs. BMS is also major part. So in future, the Manufacturers can make a new Battery Pack with new cells which have same spec level as current pack. They can also put higher capacity Battery and increase range and charging speed. See the battery upgrades done to Reva from other 3rd party makers.

@@evthink thank you brother for replying i have booked punch ev but now im having doubts. So jugaad is the future. Whether it is happening at manufacturer or 3rd party end that we will have to see. My 2nd question is if Tata or any manufacturer is actually going to change individual faulty cells (after warranty) and not push for whole pack replacement.
