The unspoken fact here is that 100's if not 1000's tata ev owners are stranded on roads everyday due to HV critical alert and tata continues to brush away the issues as charging pattern etc. and in almost all cases tata is swapping battery packs after inconveniencing customers for several months. No other ev in the Indian market has this problem except TATA. Instead of admitting the problem and fixing it, TATA continues to best around the bush and frustrate customers who have placed so much trust in tata and invested their hard earned money. I would recommend TATA to spend money on addressing is monster problem rather than spending money on marketing.

Those who dont know abt HV critical error. Its a sudden drop of SOC (battery %) and your Car goes to Limited Performance Mode(Limp Mode). Usually Limp mode should be activated only below 10%. But due to Tata's poor BMS and battery quality. This can come at any % of battery. And the battery % starts depleting rapidly. You can be stranded in the middle of the road if you have lower battery %. We have a community of Tata EV owners and 2/3 owners have faced this issue. While the main culprit of this issue is the BMS (battery management system) but Tata doesn't have a resolution to this issue. Only thing they do is replace the battery with a refurbished one (Not New Battery). Even after replacing the battery people are still facing same issue.

To answer the question that he simply danced around,a new batter costs 7 lahk and that's not including fitting the batter or shipping depending on where you are. An entire engine and transmission will not cost you that much. Insurance costs are also high for evs because the potential of them getting damaged in a crash is much more higher therefore any crash would require a battery change for safety purposes so do with that information what you will,I'll stick to my petrol and diesels until a better solution comes along. I do not think evs are the future they are merely a stopgap until a better solution is found

While I agree with you on EVs not being the future, we can also expect it to take anywhere from 8 to 10 years for a suitable alternative to IC engines to be developed and become mainstream and cost effective. So in the meantime, for someone who does travel a lot like upwards of 1500km a month it does make sense to switch to an EV for the time being from a cost savings perspective rather than continue to use ICE vehicles until the alternative comes out.

Used EV batteries still have ~80% capacity left which can easily be repurposed to use in grid energy storage or home power backup. The battery materials can be recycled to create new batteries but till now there aren't enough highly degraded batteries in the market so not many facilities r present for battery recycling. If the government doesn't come up with a strict policy then the scope of battery recycling would become completely dependent on economic viability. We still have some time... At least 5 more years to bring such regulation to guarantee setting up of ev battery repurposing/recycling facilities

@geekyranjit, big fan of yours !! Sales of EV has off late started to taper or fallen worldwide. Even Tata has revised their EV target in India from 50% to 30% in 2030. I think the biggest drawback of any EV in becoming mainstream is the turnaround time to road. If we compare to ICE cars where you can practically fill in the fuel and get back on road in max 10-15 mins, for EVs it might take hrs to do the same. This is taking into account best case scenario that we have enough infra for charging and there is no wait time. If infra is lacking then this turnaround time goes for a toss.

The reason they avoided this is because it has been found that the cost can be as high as 85% of original car cost (check other youtube videos for this). So once the battery warranty period is gone and your battery fails somehow, you have to scrap the car.

Tata's responses are so vague. You can always say present cost of battery or the present cost of a cell. All that information are kept confidential which seems so fishy. Regarding resale value, the answer given by Ranjit was vague. If going by the reports of several established auto journalists, resale value of these may plumment to such an extent that the savings achieved in fuel may be negated for anyone other than extremely heavy user. A lot of it is a bit of a question mark. Also, the long distance travelling is extremely stressfull. App may be there for showing chargers but most of those chargers would be in use when we reach there and it's not like they will vacate the charger in 5 or 10 mins, you'll be stuck there most of the time. A lot of chargers are also in a defective condition. Also, I have watched a lot of breakdown videos of several Tata EVs. All of them can't be fake. So, its not a smooth creamy experience as Ranjith is advertising. If you're doing a detailed video, kindly include the cons and disclaimers.

Let us not repeat the mistake we did by protecting ambassador and Fiat for 40 years. Presently Tata evs have lot of problems including random hv critical error and battery replacement. Excellent video but missed out on few key points which can be misleading for new buyers: 1. EV DC charging time is not equal to time taken to fill fuel. Suppose your car is running low on battery and you reach the nearest charger and already 2ppl are in queue. You will have to waste nearly 2-3hrs of your valuable time. Imagine travelling with family and kids. 2. Batteries are harmful for environment both while manufacturing and disposing. Not everyone has an individual house to install Solar - most ppl still stay in apartments without such provisions. Electricity still comes from burning coal. A very small % is actually green. 3. Tata service sucks! Either the service centre near your house is really good OR you are lucky enough not to have encountered any issues yet. Even if you get any issue, I am sure Tata might be quick enough to resolve them as you are an influencer. Imagine the plight of normal ppl. 4. EV vehicles rely mostly on software and tech. More prone to issues, breakdowns and bugs which cannot be rectified by local mechanics. 5. I am not sure how you calculated initial cost of EV. I am clearly seeing a difference in pricing of 4.5 lakhs between the top end models. If Nexon Petrol DCA gives 12kmpl mileage, one could travel approx 50k kms by burning fuel worth 4.5 lakhs. EV owners pay this cost upfront while purchasing the car and on top of this, they spend on charging their vehicle and maintainance too after the purchase! 6. Resale value of EV is much lesser than ICE engines as there are no moving parts like engine, etc.

@@aksplod > Suppose your car is running low on battery and you reach the nearest charger and already 2ppl are in queue. Number of ev’s in India is quite low, in fact only 1% of ICE cars go to highway, for EV its even lower. Many places have dual gun charger two EV charge simultaneously On busy routes, you will find multiple chargers in span of few km or even at same hotel or restaurant > 2. Batteries are harmful for environment both while manufacturing and disposing. So does extraction refining and transport of oil. In fact battery production is one time job, oil is done for every litre that you consume. >Electricity still comes from burning coal. A very small % is actually green. Did you watch the video? This was addressed already yet you say he missed this Almost 40% of energy is green only 60% is fossil fuel. In ICE car be it hybrid cng or petrol diesel, all use 100% fossil fuel. Further, the electricity production is from coal mines in India, while 80% of the oil in India is imported from countries which then use it to fund violent activities > EV vehicles rely mostly on software and tech. You are free to take modern ECU driven ICE car to roadside mechanic and see if he can fix it. The lack of upskilling of roadside mechanics hasn’t stopped ppl from buying advanced cars. If you fear so much, either take RSA service in your insurance or just don’t buy a car altogether because it is prone to breakdown. Just see how many diesel cars get bricked due to dpf and low adlblue > I am not sure how you calculated initial cost of EV. I am clearly seeing a difference in pricing of 4.5 lakhs between the top end models. Because EV offers one extra top model than ICE. On EV it is empowered while on ice it is fearless. Lowest EV and ice is creative and mid is fearless (which is top for ice model) Either compare creative ice to creative EV or fearless ice to fearless EV > charging their vehicle and maintainance too after the purchase! EV servicing is half of ICE and charging cost is 1/10th > Resale value of EV is much lesser than ICE engines as there are no moving parts like engine, etc. What kind of logic is this that more moving parts = more resale? Gottta be the most dumb excuse I’ve heard in a while
