EV Conversion - Customized Golf Cart Motor/Controller

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

I got a motor and controller from a Club Car Precedent IQ golf cart from Craigslist and set about getting it to work for an EV project.
The two major hurdles were machining an end plate, with bearing, for the motor (which has none in the golf cart application) and creating a greatly-simplified custom wire harness. Tonight I put it all together for the first time and everything worked: the motor spins!
If you need a simplified wiring harness for a Curtis 1510 type controller (1510A-5201, 1510A-5202, 1510A-5251, 1510A-5250, 1510-5251, 1510-5201, 1510-5202, 1510-5250 ) and sepex motor (my motor is ADC EJ4-4001; the GE motors from the Club Car Precedent IQ should also work).

This thread: www.buggiesgonewild.com/electr... has been very helpful. I successfully got "into" my 1510A and read and modified its settings, to the limited degree that Curtis allows.

@nachosfreeestimates - Thanks. Yeah, this Curtis controller is a little more sophisticated than the ones most people use. But, it doesn't have much power and it was a bear to wire up.

That is absolutely excellent! Thanks very much for your help. I just fished putting together all that I have access to. I ran into a problem, however. After setting everything up, I turned the throttle and the motor accellerated according. Not two seconds later, the motor lost power and slowed to a stop. This happens every time I turn the throttle. I am currently missing a speed sensor and a contactor (which is substituted by a circuit breaker). That, and the Etek motor I am using does not inclu

Nice dude...quiet too. Doesn't have that annoying electrical whining that you usually hear with home made elec conversions.

@phephq - Wiring the 1510 series properly is a little tricky. Take a look at the wiring diagram I created, which is linked to in the info section just below the video. This diagram presents the MINIMUM required to operate a 1510 series controller / motor combo. Most importantly, it properly by-passes various components on the golf cart (like the OBC - on-board computer). Let me know if you have any other questions & I'll be happy to help.

is there any sort of computer that needs to be hooked up to the controller, or is that just for programming? I got the same controller myself and havent had any success in getting it to run. my setup only includes the motor, the throttle, the controller, and a circuit breaker.
