Scooter has actually copied the Dutch music style of the 90s that literally took over the world. Not the other way around :) It is so nice to see that Joost is doing his Eurovision entry in his own 100% native Dutch mucis style without any compromises. This music is SO DUTCH!!!!

Yes/no, scooter simply joined and was after that absolutely part of the movement in the 90s that made it big. cannot imagine the german loveparade in the 90s without him. Iconic. Joost recognises that. Even then there is also a large underground movement under that.

Joost is such an inspiring guy for young and old people. He lost his father when he was 12 year old at cancer his mother died 8 months later due a heartattack. This song unites Europe he tells us that Europe is a huge village without borders. Joost is fantastic ❤

This song has a deeper meaning. 'Papa' is translated 'dad' in dutch. Joost lost his dad to cancer when he was 12 and his mom a year later because of a cardiac arrest. When he was younger he watched the Eurovision with his parents and said “I’m gonna sing at Eurovision one day”. Joost sings that no matter where he goes or what he eats, he can not escape the pain of this loss. In the end he says goodbye to the pain of his loss by burning the photo, without losing the memory. This song is also an ode to Europe. His dad told him that it’s a world without borders, because borders are invented by humans. And that you can create your own world. The dance break is gabber music - a music style that was invented in the Netherlands, and the sub genre is called happy hardcore. Bringing a personal loss, the feeling of Europe and the dutch culture together; that is art. The lyrics have a lot of layers: Europe let’s come together! It’s now or never! I love you all! Welcome to Europe Stay here until I die Euro-pa-pa, Euro-pa-pa Welcome to Europe Stay here until I die Euro-pa-pa, Euro-pa-pa Visit my friends in France Or take a long walk to Vienna I want to leave the Netherlands But my passport is gone Fortunately don't need a visa To be with you So take the bus to Poland Or the train to Berlin I have no money for Paris So use my imagination Do you have a euro please Say "merci" and "please" I lost everything Except time So am travelling every day For the world is mine Welcome to Europe Stay here until I die Euro-pa-pa, Euro-pa-pa Welcome to Europe Stay here until I die Euro-pa-pa, Euro-pa-pa Euro-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa Euro-pa-pa-pa Euro-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa Eu-ro-pa! Ich bin in Deutschland Aber Ich bin so allein Io sono in Italia but still I feel pain Am running from myself Calling for "help!" all day long Yes I even give people money But there is no one to help me I don't need es-car-gots Don't need fish 'n chips Don't need paella, no I don't even really know what that is Turn on the radio I hear Stromae with "Papaoutai" Won't stop until they say "Yes, yes, he does that very well ey!" Welcome to Europe Stay here until I die Euro-pa-pa, Euro-pa-pa Welcome to Europe Stay here until I die Euro-pa-pa, Euro-pa-pa Euro-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa Euro-pa-pa-pa Euro-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa Eu-ro-pa! Euro-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa…. Welcome in Europe boy! At the end of the day We are all human beings My father once told me It's a world without borders I miss you every day Is what I secretly whisper You see dad I listened to you Is what I secretly whisper You see dad I listened to you

@@dragonblossom-qw2pl Personally, I would see a chance with a jury. Although the jury prefers high vocals, but in this song we hear the typical Netherlands (national language, musical style) Which for me are also two reasons to approach the jury. The song has a dance mood that has a deep meaning. Joost is a very well known artist in Belgium, but also in Germany (so I hope the voices don't disappoint here) As Joost said, he loves marketing and I have to admit that it works incredibly well. The hype when his song came out was unreal. Fun fact, he sang the first live performance of Europap at his concert where he "banned" any video footage (so fans could enjoy that first moment) About Käärijä, they are friends. They were having fun before he was chosen to represent the Netherlands. Käärijä himself supports him. I believe he will put on an amazing show in Malmö.

"The real scoop (at the end of video) is that Joost Klein's tune isn't about geopolitical fires-it's about the blaze of his own memories, scorched by the loss of his parents at a young age. He's just globetrotting through Europe to douse those fiery thoughts. Simple as pie!....."

Check out Europapa LIVE First time - awesome! The bold guy in the video is DJ Paul Elstak, hè was BIG in the 90’s (check Rainbow in the sky & Luv you more!) and he co-produced and integrated the 90’s style. Ps. Most nr 1 DJ’s of the world are Dutch… (Tiësto, Armin van Buren, Afrojack, Martin Garrix…etc) 🎉😮😊

His parents died when he was 12 and 13 years old. So the text in a subtle way refers to this. This father said: the world is without borders... and Joost says at the end: So, dad, I did not forget it...!

Great reaction! Do check it out again with subtitles or the lyrics to discover the hidden layers in the song. Fun facts: the people at the "last meal' dinner table are Rene Froger (Eurovision contestant for the Netherlands 2009), S10 (participant 2023), Donnie (dutch rapper) and Emma Wortelboer (who went hysterical after/during Duncan Laurence won for the NL and who gave our points). The guy in the car is DJ Paul Elstak, founder of happy hardcore (Rainbow in the sky) and who also worked on this song. The reference to Stromae is that the song Papaoutai (spelling?) is about missing his father and Joost also misses his father as he died of cancer when Joost was 12 years old.

Joost sounds like Yoast. Jeg elsker Norge og Norsk ❤ 🇧🇻 ❤ I've been island hopping between Sandnessjøn and Bodø also on Svalbard between Longyearbyen and Amsterdamøya. Your country is crazy beautiful!!! I think I'm in love 🥰 It's so different from the Netherlands. We basically live on Scandinavian boulderclay brought by ancient glaciers. It's a swamp that needs crazy drainage to be livable, and we're slowly drowning 😂 But our language and culture are fairly similar, which isn't surprising because many of us are ethnically Scandinavian. I enjoyed your reaction video very much. Tusen Takk!

This song is about Joost's father, whom he lost at age 12 due to cancer. A year later, when he was 13, his mom died of a heart attack. As a child Joost used to watch Eurovision Song Contest with his parents, to whom he said that one day he would be on the show. His father told him that the world is open and at his feet. That is why, in the end he says: "Dad, every day I silently whisper that I still miss you. But I want you to know, that I listened to you." (i.e. by traveling Europe)

Update (16 May, about disqualification of Joost) by Dutch broadcaster RTL4: Dutch broadcast RTL4 got hold of the EBU rules. It seems appeal after being disqualified is not possible. No independent commission to go to, nothing. Very undemocratic. Also it seems Osterdahl can make these decisions on his own. EBU says it advised some (board?) members, but who are these members? From which countries? Because if these countries benefit from someone being disqualified, how can that be a valid decision?? The answer is: it can’t be. Not if he decides on his own, neither if other countries benefit by supporting his decision (EBU’s employees are also Citizens). So not 2024. A very old-fashioned undemocratic organisation that can do and decide whatever they want, too much power. FIFA-like… Well, by now we know that EBU filtered the BOO’s away and manipulated the show, putting applause instead (lots of real footage made by phones available on KZread to verify). Also about this topic, countries complained as they find that media are supposed to present reality to the public and may not manipulate the footage. Also by now we know 13 countries have filed a complaint against EBU, of which we still don’t know what had been done with these complaints. Well, we know that it is too late now, the contest is over. Also, it seems journalists have been calling EBU with plenty of questions about all of the above - it seems they don’t even pick up the phone. Unbelievable, for such a lage and powerful organisation. Only thinking about themselves, not the artists, not the fairness of their rules… Again: it’s FIFA-like. Only WE, the members, can put a stop to this. Hope The Netherlands will win in court (lawyers say we will, as even in worst case scenario the decision was disproportionate). And hope we will not participate in 2025. Fuck EBU.

Why don't you turn on those subtitles. It is included in all languages. Because you are not familiar with the language, you miss the entire essence of this song. And because of this alone, the non-English songs often lose a lot of points. While they all say that more action should be taken in their own language and culture. If you turn on subtitles, we give non-English performing groups a fairer chance compared to all those English-speaking groups. This Song is not only a work of art musically, but also a work of art lyrically. Showing an entire life with all its wishes and sorrows in three minutes, ultimately ending in a conclusion in which he ends the same past and present by burning it all for a new beginning. But unfortunately, because of that, this Song will end up with the jury members who have no knowledge of art and forget to include the translation.
