Europe's Closest Island to Africa is Having a Migrant Crisis (Lampedusa, Italy)

In 2022, I took a day trip by flying into the besieged island of Lampedusa, in order to check out how the island is dealing with huge waves of African migrants that managed to sail onto the southernmost piece of European Union land. Yet little did I know, one year later, as this video was about to come out, the entire island experienced a new wave 100 times larger...
NOTE: this video was taken before the 2023 migrant crisis, many information, viewpoints, locations, and opinions may have altered or ceased to exist. I am neither in favor, nor against, migration to Europe, and interviewees' statements are solely their own.

One of the most beautiful places in Italy, That small island behind you is called Rabbit's island. I've been there about 20 years ago, but I would think twice now. A big portion of the island is a military base. Thanks for the update

Yeah I actually toured the entire island and swam to rabbit island, but I was on a day trip so only had time for a bit of swimming once i was done filming. It was such a beautiful place, and I believe when I was there, the effects of migration was largely contained to certain areas of the island, but now there is no way they can keep all the migrants in facilities, and many are escaping to take normal public transport to get out of the island.

Damn right! Immigration should be done slowly and carefully to make sure things are done right. Otherwise it's more like a damn invasion!

This is a despicable assault on the LEGAL residents of LAMPEDUSA. The ILLEGAL CRIMINAL FREELOADERS ILLEGALLY invaded the Island of Lampedusa. They are ILLEGAL CRIMINAL FREELOADERS, due to the fact they dealt with ILLEGAL TRAFFICKERS. THEY PARTICIPATED IN AN ILLEGAL ACTIVITY. ITALY is not responsible for sheltering, feeding & providing for these ILLEGAL CRIMINAL FREELOADERS. DEPORT THEM ALL. THEY HAVE TRANSFORMED LAMPEDUSA INTO A CESSPOOL.

Deport every last one of them. The MILITARY should set up a blockade to prevent additional ILLEGAL FREELOADERS from entering Lampedusa. What is going on now is an crime of convience for TERRORIST TO ENTER AS WELL. This is nothing but an INVASION on another country. In the past military action would have taken action against the invaders. What a pity we are now living in a very woke society now. This invasion is also an orchestrated campaign by the "Powers That Be" from the M.E. Open your eyes EU. This is just insane. Stop the nonesense already!!!! When our families immigrated to the USA & various other Countries they followed the LEGAL PROCESS & made the passage thru the LEGAL system. They were required to have a sponsor, the information of the sponsors name & address. They also had to have proof of a trade for employment, plus the prospective employer information. They were also screened for diseases. What is happening now is definitely the end of Europe & the Freeworld Countries within the European union. The invaders do not have the same values nor culture or ideologies as the Freeworld countries. The INVADERS do not want to assimilate to the European way of life nor will they ever. It's a fact Paris, London, Belgium & other countries have lost their way of life, it's a mess. What did your families, your ancestors fight & give their lives for in WW1 & WWII for? This is disrespecting them. Europe will never be the same. 🙏😢

@@donnagelina8548there is a reason for migration, most Europeans are by now aware that their corporations are behind keeping African and Latin American countries poor,so they can continue to rape them of raw materials cheaply, they also benefit from cheap labour in Europe, because the migrants serve as a counter to higher wage demands by working class Europeans, your real enemy is capitalism, and the capture by an oligarchy of the global financial system, this is the real driving cause of mass economic migration

Does "the entire world" include Africa? Because I'm pretty sure the Africans have something to say about the one sided relationship between Africa and the IMF, the EU , the World Bank etc that support corrupt democracies which send resources and skilled immigrants to the west leaving Africa rulers super wealthy and their citizenry poor and destitute causing the "migrant crisis" in the first place...

You can see it will not stop unless we stop it at their borders. The West had built its wealth by working hard and they always gave money to support those countries for over 40 years now. And they still did not build any wealth? Poland and so on also worked hard and built their country up in a couple of years by working hard. Keeping your hand up is not going to build your home country up. A country which is 5 times bigger than Europe one must see we can not hold this. And Europe is getting poorer by the day. So there is no wealth anymore it is destroyed.

There are many questions talking about. 1) the Dublin Law said that the first county, in which migrants arrive, must be accept them, is equivalent also in Greece. 2)The majority of migrants, don't stay in Italy, but they go in other European countries, or if they stay in Italy ,they contribute at Italian economy much more than some Italian citizens, and in conduction of exploitation. The actual Italy Government, said in electoral campaign: it will solve this question, but it can't realized this.Give the reasons of its incapacity alway to others, like Italian Government/Prime minister, is a sign of incapacity.

Yeah the globalization hits every aspect of life, even migration! It is so funny yet sad to see the past 2 months, many Central American countries like El Salvador, Costa Rica and Nicaragua are implementing emergency restrictions on Africans and Indians, because on their social media many people are sharing how to get there visa free and walk all the way to USA to seek asylum. Hard to imagine before social media a country can see 100000% increase in arrivals from Indians/Africans in a month.

haha misspoke. I woke up at 4am that day to take a day trip to the island, I flew in from Venice at 6am and had to leave for Rome that night. Also I had to walk to the town and took me 2 hours to find someone who could rent me a motorcycle, so I was basically operating on empty when I filmed this.

anybody if they bear a child in Europe they will become legal and resident in 5 years. meanwhile all the cost will be paid for as soon as they arrive so there is nothing to lose if you come illegally. so come pay 5000 to 10000 euro once and you will be taken care of for the rest of your lives.
