Indeed, I have searched everywhere the internet just to find if exist a better version than this, because that's just me, when it comes to good music. The 90's were grait in terms of expression and feelings.

My favorite version of Europa, and I adore Gato and Santana, but this was magnificent....

My name is Lance Parker on the saxophone player from Pittsburgh Pennsylvania studied with the great saxophone jazz players Sonny stitt in fact Sunny gave me his Mark 7 tenor saxophone in 1978 I used to travel with him and study on the road I play this song very similar to Greg Vail but in my opinion nobody does it better than Greg Vail he has mastered the song along with many other songs Richard Elliot also does another great job and of course the fabulous gato barbieri who originally did the song was fabulous but in my opinion nobody does it better than Greg Vail this message from sax player Lance Parker Pittsburgh PA

I'm a sax player and I know I'll never reach that level of playing. I love watching him hit those high altissimo notes and seemingly doing it with ease. I'm amazed at how he's not even breathing hard after the song. I can't believe some gave him a thumbs down.

I have heard this song played by at least 50 folk this is the best I ever heard this I've listened to this over a thousand time the best Grover Washington is smiling

I didn't know this video existed. I was there most weekend nights throughout the nineties to absorb everything I could from Greg's playing and I'm sure I was there for this performance. I worked down the street at Irvine Marriot when Robert Conti played in the lobby a few years before he moved up to the View at Newport Marriot. As a local sax player myself I got a call from my agent to play table side sax for a couple at a nearby Laguna Bch restaurant, I was asked to play Europa so I played a few choruses and quickly moved on to "Feel Like Makin Love'" and a short version of Play misty for me. The girl at the table was in love with Europa because she heard Greg play it at the View. I made 300. and paid my agent 50 for 20 minutes and three songs. Thanks Greg,

Just incredible, that coming from a 47 year Gato fan. I will never say one is better than the other, it's just a different style, both are unique in their own way. Both knocking this Santana piece out of the park !!!

This is one of those songs where Greg gave the audience a piece of his heart and soul. I still can't believe to this day that when he was playing this song, that there was even one voice talking....... I really think even Angels stopped to listen......

No one can come within 10 miles of this rendition . I used to think that Gato Barbieri ( the great master ) was untouchable boy was I wrong ! No one has the Greg Vail sound except Greg Vail ! Proven fact !

Inspirational, motivational, touches the heart...musically perfect. I play clarinet and alto sax, makes me wanna buy tenor just for this...thank you Greg.

The intentionality of each note is great to endow the whole piece with an emotional load of feelings that really hypnotizes you and absorbs your attention until the end. And the gestures end up convincing the viewer that this is not circumstantial or ephemeral, but a musician who really has the talent to make his instrument speak of very human things. BRAVO MAESTRO!!!!

he blows hard and That's the way to do it brother ..I know I did with my sax and left if ALL up there on stage at the end of every night....miss it sometimes, the atmosphere, the band members and ...........my youth......that's ok, everything comes to an end some day.....good memories!!!!....

Shooooot.....kill't it! Some people here are saying "too animated...", "look at that hair..." etc, WHO CARES! That was the early 90's people! Entertainment, hello? This is just me, but if I'm going to be spending my hard-earned money at a venue, & the musicians make money off of what I & others spend, then they better earn it! I'm not gonna want to sit there & watch a guy just stand there, playing a passionate song without passion. Awesome technique & tone, inspiring performance. YOU GO GREG!

Hi, 2017 - I can just shut that clod out and listen to pure music and feelings - it is 5:15 a.m. must have watched and listened to Greg Vail "Europa" at least 5 times today - everytime I cannot settle down to sleep I put him on and it soothes me. What a talent so happy we can see and listen to him.

If you play sax, you can see that Greg Vail plays part of the song on the altissimo octave (out of the range of instrument) with perfect pitch AND ALIVE = IN VIVO!!! this is extremly difficult to do..so difficult that even Gato don't do this..
