I've heard a lot of saxophone players play this, and I think Kirk Whalum and Richard Elliot are right at the top neck and neck. When they play it I Feel it and Is that Chuck Loeb on keys?....... I feel it all over! OoooooWeeeeee!

Wow......Great job Kirk. This song is so soulful, Santana and Gato poured their heart into this song and now Kirk.

Masterful, soulful rendition by Kirk on this, wow... nailed it, beautiful.

Nobody interprets melodies like Kirk Whalum.

Oh my God, just found this, I am just bawling my eyes out over the stupendous talent of Kirk with the one and only Chuck Loeb, just too much to realize Chuck is gone, this live version absolutely blows me away musically and emotionally, all love xoxo

Europa was composed by the Great Carlos Santana back in 1970. Research Mr. Carlos Santana on guitar and Gato B. on tenor sax fantastic. JCB jazz musician.

I know Santana is a great composer says us both which his music speaks highly for him and you say it was Carlos Santana not Gato the master mind behind Europa. I see and hear Santana in some of Gato songs.That little episode Chuck Loeb and the keyboard man kind of up set me because I wanted see Chuck play.

"Europa" such a sexy soulful sax arrangement to a beautiful song

This song was my favorite by The late great Gato.B...but Mr Whakum has his own sound to a great great song...💯❣...by far a favorite...

Oh I just love this song so much. I know this is originally a Carlos Santana song, but Gato Barbieri straight-up owned it with his tenor sax, and the I think he would love this arrangement.

What a perfect description - he really is an R&B singer who happens to sing through an instrument. He very much approaches with a singer's mentality, and it's a big part of what makes his playing so passionate and approachable by people who don't typically care for saxophone or anything jazz oriented.

My preferences of versions are simply: guitar Carlos, keys Coster, sax Gato, violin Silverman. Thanks to anyone and everyone playing this masterpiece. Coster's 2 versions are spectacular and Gato's has always been the sexiest and owns it. Shout outs to the former Santana member who still plays the tune, Jules Broussard. We are still waiting for Whalum and Dulpher to release their versions. We are finding new versions everyday and glad it's being so recognized. It also worked well in the skating event at the Olympics.

I have loved Kirk's music since I lived in Houston 35 years ago. It has been hard to find his music these days. I think that he plays mostly Christian music. Although I could be wrong. This is my favorite Gatto song. Kirk often reminded me of Gatto, who I also love.
