Euro NCAP Crash & Safety Tests of Peugeot 508 2018 - Update

Update 2020: The Peugeot 508 Hybrid is a variant of the 508. Some additional tests and checks have been done to ensure that the rating of the 508, tested in 2018, applies to the electric variant.
Euro NCAP performs a series of crash and safety tests on car models:
- a frontal impact test, the car impacts a rigid barrier
- an offset frontal impact test, 40% of the width of the car is striking a deformable barrier
- a pole test, the tested car is propelled sideways into a rigid pole
- a side impact test, a mobile deformable barrier impacts the driver's door.
A series of pedestrian tests are conducted with different impactors, adult and child head form, lower and upper leg form and whiplash tests are performed on a sled.
Active safety is tested based on the car’s equipment: autonomous emergency braking systems (car to car, with a pedestrian and a cyclist target), lane support and speed assist technologies and seatbelt reminders.

    I watched the videos of the Cupra formentor and this car.In the first crash video of this car, the side airbags do not deploy.But the Formentor has side airbags.Both cars have close scores.What is your criterion that determines safety here? Are the side airbags not important?

    In a frontal crash some brands prefer not to ignite the lateral airbags because after the first impact you can have a secondary impact from other vehicle, and if the lateral airbags acted at the first one, you would no more have their protection in the second one. This car have lateral airbags and you can see them acting in the lateral impacts.
