Its absolutely brilliant

Wow. Takes me back a few years. I would have been 33 for this one. Watching the second great age of the great footballers, and so many of those were bowing out at the time as well. It was a great tournament with surprising winners in Greece. Some great matches and then the Portuguese.

I was 14 when I first saw these adverts and 17 years on can still remember them, two beautiful adverts of the beautiful game! A real throwback of real players 👌

As someone else said this stuck with me because it was superbly done with the combination of the artwork and music, brilliant!

Getting ready for the second time in my lifetime to see England compete in a Semi-Final at the Euros in a few days time. So to get the hype train going I follow the same routine I did in the previous world cup: 1. Listen to "World in motion" - To remind me that the hope is always alive and to give me some pride. 2. Watch Gazza's goal against Scotland at 96 - To remind me of the individual brilliance that England can sometimes achieve. 3. Finally; I watch this incredible 40 second of art - To remind me that whatever happens; it will always be the beautiful game and at the end of the day it's not always about who wins. I'm nearly 40 years old now and I still remember this incredible piece of art like it was yesterday. Moving and so much nostalgia.

Is it me or were there more 'big names' across football back then? Literally each nation had 2 or 3 major stars. These days, nations like Italy, Holland, Germany and even Brazil for that matter barely have one star, let alone 3, 4 or 5.

I do think that as well. Between 2002 and 2010 most nations had big star names in their teams. Henry, Zidane, Trezeguet (How ever you spell his name) for France. Ballack, Lahm, Klose for Germany. Scholes, Gerrard, Rooney for England. Ronaldo, Ronaldinho, Rivaldo for Brazil. Ronaldo, Deco and Figo for Portugal. I can go on lol Edit: All of these players (Apart from Brazil) and it's Greece who won the Euros lol

They took these down from KZread on the official BBC channel because it championed European supremacy. How sad is that. I loved these ads as a 21 year old, they made me feel so good and happy and looking forward to the tournament

In the other (60 second promo) Beckham was Lucian Freud, Zidane was Seurat, Raul was Picasso, Ballack was Kirchner, Figo was Portuguese Icon Painting...
