Euphoria. A Stop motion Animation by Guldies
Фильм және анимация
Euphoria. It's YOURS. Not mine. Not HIS. Filthy man.
I want to keep doing what I love. It would mean the world to me if you somehow support my art by clicking this cute link: / guldies
Oh my. I finished it. I'm finished as well. I'm exhausted. What happened? I've worked so hard. I've spent too many hours on this,
but somehow it was worth it. Every new project is like an emotional journey. I've felt so many things through this particular journey.
I have never been so pumped up and excited for anything, but at the same time I have never been so miserable. Miserable because I put too much pressure on my weak heart... it's pretty strong but whateva... I'm proud of this animation. Really proud. And I really hope it gives you joy.
You give me joy. 20.000 of you. It's crazy. Can't believe it! I will celebrate this milestone with you guys. With this animation!
The animation consists of around 2000 still pictures. I don't have the guts to estimate the time it took, but I'll do it anyways. Because I'm gutsy.
I think everywhere between 400-600 hours. Gosh darnit. I don't know!
I used a Canon EOS 600D. I animated in DragonFrame and edited MANY MANY pictures in Photoshop CS6. I rendered everything in Sony Vegas Pro 10. Poop.
The sound effects comes from Freesound dot org. They are outstanding.
I LOVE YOU

I’ve come to the conclusion that this is about addiction. 1:14 he is hesitant about the substance at first. 1:28 he freaks out and rejects the substance 1:33 the substance changes shape in a way that appeals to him. He feels drawn to it and impulsively leaps towards the substance regardless of consequences This can also be know as “chasing the dragon” 1:53 he has been taken over by his addiction and realized the consequences of his actions far too late. As for the last part I do not know. Perhaps it’s the visualization of the process of how a drug gets popular and widespread. Each pile of coins symbolizing it’s ever growing pile of victims.
@CanRockerguit

I completely agree with you. The final part could mean how the drug industry remains getting rich without caring for the victims.

I really like how a lot of his animations involve cycle, the end meeting back with the beginning. It's interesting, especially in the kill your maker but the concept never seems to get old. The animations of course are stellar

If that's how you make coins, I don't wanna KNOW where dollars come from...
And the fact that it was made by stop-motion is breathtaking.
I take this all as a metaphor for man’s greed, and those both smart and evil enough to take advantage of it for personal gain. Incredibly well done man.
The amount of patience that animators have baffles me. As a novice comic artist I barely even have the patience for that, although I've gotten better at it lately. I'm mesmerized by the skill of animators.

Guldies Are you a fan of--dare I say it?--Ray Harryhausen? Jan Svankmajer? I'm curious; what got you into claymation? Also: You live in Sweden? I'm jealous!
@Guldies
9 жыл бұрын
I'm in love with Jan Svankmajer. He is a big inspiration, as well as PES, but the ones who got me into stop motion animation and helped me out was this small community right here on youtube. Mackmation (he is a professional animator now. robot chicken, box trolls and so on!) was the one who sparked my interest and I asked him thousands of questions. And then I just carried on by myself :)
@Guldies
9 жыл бұрын
Sweden is lovely, but not right now! Cold, grey, wet and boring, but cozy.
@Doktorlady
9 жыл бұрын
Guldies Thank you very much for answering! I did not expect it. Ah! Your work does have something of Svankmajer in it, I think, but a lot of work does! He's amazing. And Mackmation took the time to answer these questions? How wonderful! I can't imagine working with clay. I dabble in paper stop motion. In private, though. Only one or two people have seen what I've done. You're very brave to put it up on KZread, in some ways. Cold, grey, and wet sounds swell to me! Though, it's not much different where I am.
I believe that this video is a metaphor for how big money corporations treat people like you and me. They may supply markets with food, and other items. But ultimately, we are pawns in a game.

I think he meant the coins part
incredible, it must have taken you a while to make this
A claymation that is actually smooth with a proper frame rate? Can't believe that eggsists. (Yes it was quite disgustin' at times but the smoothness makes up for that).
Your rivalry between you and Cyriak is something to behold.

first off, this is insanely good. Seriously some of the best stuff I have seen on youtube and extremely inspirational. Honestly, how did you make the clay so fluid with the droplets?

I'm so glad to hear that. Thank you. I get inspiration from a few stop motion animators and I'll love them til death for that, but to hear some people think my work is inspirational is just absolutely wonderful

I like the idea of the clay creature as the audience and the blue clay as the video and the coins at the end represents each view :)
Okay so, basically i could be very wrong but what i got from this was that the man with the machine was selling some kind of drug which was represented by the blue liquid. The tan liquid was the buyer. At first the customer is cautious and only tries it slowly (the customer inhaling it through the nose could also mean something), before erupting into this weird face of pleasure. Then we see the customer start to consume it more eagerly. quite literally jumping for it. They start to levitate into orbs which could suggest some sort of high, before the customer comes crashing down into pieces. Then the seller simply pushes them aside, takes their money, and starts it all over again.
This is art, i dont know if this animation has a message, but, anyway, its awesome
no one: everyone: creepy me: *caramel*
This is the best stop motion movie I have ever seen!
I love seeing everyone’s interpretations of this. I used to absolutely binge watch the channel when a was a bit younger and this video was always my favorite. At the time i liked it because it was weird and the twist at the end. Never really thought that much deeper about it. I could tell it was telling a story but i wasnt sure what that story was. Tbh im still not, but i love reading all the interperations other have. Ive seen at least 3 related to money forgery, and 2 about drug addiction.

Damn this is so so cool! Your work truly inspires me :) I recommend that you record your own sounds, rather than using stock effects. I think it'd make the audio feel more cohesive with the visual aesthetic. It's super creative and unique and I think the stock sound effects cheapen this wonderful work of art. Just my two cents! Anyway this is incredible work & I hope to one day be as good as you at stop motion animation :')
