Eulogy is honestly my favorite song by any band.

Your smile at the 15:10 mark is the smile of someone who found the Tool song that they love the most. To me this is and will always be one of the best Tool songs in the catalog. It is the perfect blend of what they were and what they were bound to become. I say this as a fan since "92". IFKYK 😁

In response to late-video-Lauren: No Tool song is #1 for the long haul. There have been days where Eulogy is my favorite. Days where Lateralus, the Grudge, or Bottom were my favorite. My current favorite is Descending, and that may be eclipsed by Crawl Away or Jerk-Off depending upon my mood. Seriously...so many masterpiece level songs from one band...it's unfair.

Tool Army General checking in. I remember the exact place, time when I heard this song. I just kept rewinding the first two minutes of it over and over again thinking to myself what in the hell is this? This is a freaking Masterpiece is what it is!

One of my favorite aspects of this song is that MJK participates in the music. The weird beeps in the intro and between the first and second verses are Maynard singing through a megaphone while only briefly tapping the button for it to amplify his voice. No lyrics, he's acting purely as another instrument there. I always thought that was cool. I wish they'd explore that idea more. Using vocals not just for lyrics, but also as another instrument in the music.

This is the best song off of this album IMO. I remember being at the Hershey show in 2017 and they played this for the first time in like 15 years. The crowd went absolutely nuts

Eulogy's intro is truly something else entirely.

Absolutely Stellar reaction, It hit you EXACTLY the way they planned it! Eulogy is in my top 5 for sure but I think we can all agree that it is literally impossible to have a favorite TooL tune....depends on the season, the month, the week, the day, the hour.....Stay Awesome

Disposition/Reflection is my favorite tool experience. This would be in my top 5 songs

Can't nail down a favorite Tool song personally. But this album is definitely still my favorite. Literally changed my life.

The neat thing about Tool is that it grows with you. Your favorite song may be Angry Tool for your Adolescent/Teenage years, Funny Tool for your 20s, into Spiritual Tool for your 30s, Introspective Tool for the 40s and beyond. But whatever you're into, whatever your personality at the time, there's a Tool track that encapsulates it. 😅

Definitely one of my favorite Tool tracks. As far as best intros? The intro to Disgustipated is bonkers

@@MusicCatsandCoffee I think it is the meep meep sound which is actually Maynard's voice. So when you're saying that "Maynard's voice is a magical thing", you're not far off the mark. ;-)

Favorite Tool song is whichever one you're listening to in the moment : )

When you were talking about the spatial positioning of the sounds around you, you reminded me of something. In 2001 a friend of mine got a new stereo system, with a full Dolby surround setup. I put my Tool cd in and played Eulogy. I was shocked. It was nothing like how I'd heard it before. Each instrument had it's own spatial location. You could sit on the couch and hear it all around you, each instrument more distinct than ever because it was separated spatially from the others. It was like going from black and white to color. I don't know why that system was so magical. No other home surround sound setup I've listened to has ever impressed me like listening to Eulogy did that day.

It is one of there great songs one of Maynard’s greatest vocals.

I still remember the day when my friends and I went and bought this when it came out. Four of us went back and listened to the whole album front to back and no one said a word the whole time. We just could not believe it.

As a fan that's been listening to them since they came out, seen live, heard this album a thousand times... this song still holds up in my top 3 of theirs. When that chorus kicks in... SOOOOOOO LOOOOOONNNGGG🤘Can't help but belt it out every time!

That is one great song and I have seen critics agreeing. Tool just does something that touches way down in the soul. #ToolArmy

I'm so glad you loved this one! I've probably said it before, but I don't think I can choose a single "favorite". This one is easily in my top 5 somewhere! Now the intro? It's my favorite. Also, yes, this song has a little bit of everything that Tool does, I agree. Anyway, this is my favorite Tool album and I hope you get to some more soon!

I remember saying that years ago… then I heard the next song, then the next song, and so on. I found out long ago that Tool songs are like the ouroboros. Just relax and enjoy and you’ll eventually return to the beginning.

The best Tool intro, is whichever Tool intro you are currently listening to, just as the best Tool song is whichever Tool song you are currently listening to. BTW that beepy/honky instrument, is Maynard playing the siren on a megaphone.

It’s how they end the album and it’s a trip. Also I get it, it’s like if you don’t praise everyone in the band every video ppl think you didn’t like them.

I've said this before but I'll say it again, for me the best "the Maynard" will always be from the song Jerk Off. And I know I sound like a broken record lol but check out Hooker With a Penis (yes that's the actual name of the song 😅)

Ha, the kindergarten son of my daughter's best friend heard this song in the car (my daughter plays a lot of Tool and Pearl Jam in her car) and he liked those weird little sounds between the first and second vocals. When it was over he said "Play the bawk-bawk song again!" cause he thought that part sounded like a chicken. So now my daughter and her bestie call Eulogy the chicken song, ha, and Tool has acquired a new if rather young fan!

I have always loved this song, one of my favs…. But it’s true what they say, your favorite tool song is whatever your listening to right now. Nice reaction!

Hard to pick a favorite Tool song, theres so many BUT....Eulogy has my favorite intro for a Tool song, and is one of my faves for just music in general. Its so unique and interesting and builds up the layers and interplay between the sounds so well.

"Bambam smash!" I've loved this song since 1997.

I teeter between this song, the grudge and vicarious as well. They are absolutely perfect and dynamic

There are many Tool songs that are my favorite song while I'm listening to them, If listen to Pushit, that's my favorite song while I'm listening to it, same happens with Descending, Third Eye, The Grudge, The Patient, Schism, Reflexion, Parabola, Opiate2, H, Jimmy, and 7empest, all of them are my favorite tool song.

This is my favourite Tool song, and it has ALWAYS been my favourite Tool song.

IMO, this song is Paul D'amour's best bass performance on this album. Front and center, driving the song and it's progressions. 🤘

Paul D'Amour didn't play bass on this album. Yes, he has writing credits for some songs (Eulogy being one of them) but he did not play bass on this album

I knew this video was going to be so righteous I gave a thumbs up before even watching. I'll watch it again on my TV. Eulogy might not be my favorite Tool song, but it is definitely in my top 5. I am glad you enjoyed it so much.

Definitely top 5 for me but Wings for Marie along with 10,000 Days are the most personal songs ever written and musically 2nd to none in which it sets the mood! Those 2 songs are the cohesive force that brings Tool Fans and Tool Army together! They are better understood when listening to "Judith" from A Perfect Circle to get Maynard's true emotions at the time of recording these amazing songs!

Great reaction! You are right that the long drawn out eerie sound is a long slow pick scrape. Genius. Also that opening guitar riff when the first verse starts is in my opinion known as one of the most meaty dark guitar riffs of Adam Jones. It is an amazing song!

This song will be #1 over and over again, along with pretty much every other tool song, based pretty much on which one you heard most recently... so good luck with that :)

With Tool I always listen dozens of times before looking the lyrics up. I can’t process everything at once until I’ve processed the individual parts, and the lyrics are the last step for me. There are always phrases that I can’t quite make out, even once the context is more clear. Lyric videos like these always frustrate me because of all of errors, both legitimate and perceived.

This was my favorite after this album came out. After “Hooker with a Penis” was my early favorite and before “Aenema” was my favorite. Then Lateralus came out. Since then, this song only takes the top spot until I listen to one of my other favorites. You already share this experience, congrats!

i love watching the 10.16.1996 live performance of this. at first i thought the beeps were being done with a button on the megaphone, but the more i watch it performed live, the more i think Maynard is vocalizing them.

LOL, (which is my favorite song?), it's usually the last Tool song I listened to, stopped a long time ago to define an order of favorite Tool songs, it ebbs and flow with my age and experiences.

I know every Tool song inside and out. But, they tend to de-throne themselves for top song quite frequently. Its like a life of its own.

This has always been my favourite tool song!! I mean this whole album is such a gem so good!!

I think my favorite Tool song is either eulogy, or prison sex. 46 and 2 and Sober are also great.

You're so smart! Spreading out the Tool songs as much as possible. It's a good move, and almost no one else did that. It's all about quality, not quantity, when it comes to Tool, which leaves some reaction channels out of gas long before they should have been. They have many interesting intros because they always take their time, right? It's all about not rushing anything, but just letting the song evolve almost organically. And if you decide on day to become a true Tool fan, someone who listens to their music a lot, you'll find some of your favorites jumping around, sometimes just depending on your mood. Descending is cy current favorite, off the newest album, which I believe you haven't touched yet (the entire album, another smart move). Descending took a while to click, but when it did, it happened like an avalanche. Now I can never get enough of it. There are some real charmers on the new album. You'll see...I mean hear.

Definitely one of my favorites. I think it comes right after Stinkfist on the album, right? Love that song, too, and it was a long time before I realized what it was actually about. "Turn around, take my hand" took on a whole new meaning when I did LOL.

Lauren. I think when you were referring to placement of the sounds around you you were referring to production of the album. Tool has always had great production in their albums.

There is just something about this song. I remember a concert in '96 or '97 when they started playing this song. The wave of emotion and excitement that reverberated around the stadium was insane. People literally went nuts and lost their minds. Never have I seen that for any song for any concert for any band that I have attended.

My favorite Tool song.

It’s up there it’s classic new inventive music by the band tool super inventive unique music to say the least I bought this album in 1996… and I thought this song was three songs. The 90s were weird because when people listen to the song for the first time they understand it has it been my 90th time I’ve listen to it and it’s cool and baffles me at the same time but that again it’s tool
