I have an Eterna Matic 1248 from 1950 serviced and runs amazing now 72 years old Eterna was at that time more innovative then Rolex or Patek for me Eterna is the best deal in excellent vintage watches !

Great video! I found this trying to find more information about my watch, the FIRST mechanical one I actually bought for looks: a 1962 Eterna-matic 3000. This was the direct replacement for the Centenaire, and the design is an interesting iteration. It stays classy and simple but it goes NARROW. The hour markings are all pencil thin but longer. The 12, 6, and 9 are slightly thicker. There's now a date window at 3 o'clock. The hands are very narrow as well, the second hand basically matching the hour markings, and the minute and hour hands being long skinny triangles, tapering to a fine point. Personally, I LOVE the look of the 3000, though in such a minimalistic design, the date window might be considered a fault on what's otherwise a clean and unblemished dial. However, I can't help but appreciate the clever mechanism, because to advance the date, you pull on the stem, which is spring-returned and which advances it by one day. Simple and elegant. Also, they actually have SEVEN bearings on the rotor. I am truly hooked on mechanical watches, and I am extremely happy to have such a watch at the beginning of my collection.

I inherited a Kontiki erterna-matic and a Zenith from my father. I had them both serviced so they both work. They don’t get a lot of wrist time, but I try and wear them at least one day a month.

These 5 balls can be as well replaced by 5 stars. Great masterpiece! Don’t know why, but I think it’s time to buy a watch… ;-) Good job! Thank you!

I just found one of these watches in cleaning up our basement after a flood. It belonged to my Grandfather and seems to still be working. Could use a cleaning though. No water damage. I may just take it to a jeweler or watch repair place to have it cleaned and service. Thanks for your video and the info on it. I've learned a lot. I'm going to see how well it keeps time before I take it in. I'm just curious

I got Eterna 18K gold wrist watch as heritage, it has also crocodile skin strap. It's super slim and thin and only reads Eterna. It doesn't have Eterna-matic. So I wonder how is mine different from this type Eterna?

Hey 👋, Eterna Matic stands for an automatic movement ( also the 5 ball bearing logo above the scrip) . Maybe your piece is hand wound ;)

I have an Eterna Super Kontiki chronometer diver w/ 2824-2 at chronometer grade, the best timekeeper i've seen so far, built quality is also great. After my experience with Eterna i doubt i will have an Oris or Tag like in the past again. I wish i'd buy also a 73 idf version.

Outstanding video! I recently acquired a Loius Erard Chrono with the ETA 7750 movement, and I LOVE IT! It is a bit heavy on my small wrist, but super fun to wear and show off xD

@@GoldammerVintageWatches Case is 38mm across, the watch is 13 mm thick and weighs 139grams. I stand 5'6", weigh 160lbs (all muscle!) so the watch might look too big on me, but now I'm used to it. & Now you've made me want an early Eterna, hahaha!

It’s not clear to me why vintage Eterna watches are so cheap to buy. They have a great legacy In innovation and the quality is superb. You can pick up a fantastic 50-70 year old Eterna-matic for the price of a run of the mill Seiko quartz. It’s ridiculous, what am I missing?

@@GoldammerVintageWatches Absolutely, and I’ve been looking at beautiful Eterna-matic the past few days as well as some excellent Cyma and Universal Geneve (polerouter, white shadow, …) vintage models whilst the world still goes mad about AP Royal Croak, PP Nauseus and VC Overrated. I will buy a vintage Eterna before it’s too late 🙏🏽
