Amazing machines. The main problem with them was that they were too noisy and US/British attack subs could find and track them. The USSR also had the problem of being less technologically advanced than the USA. Thus their equipment often had to be much larger to obtain similar results to the US's equipment. They could not build a Boomer as good as the Ohio class unless it was MUCH larger. Even then they could not make it near as silent as US subs.

Yeah, the Tomcat is a magnificent jet. You really need to take a look at it, it gave us air superiority over the Mig 28s for years! This is something that Estonia could one day buy, a lot easier than you could realistically purchase some of the others, and it's a great aircraft! I absolutely guarantee that your country would benefit 1000% from having these jets in your arsenal. Been around since the 80's or so, but you've seen enough videos about our aircraft to know that they can be old as dirt and still hella devastating . I mean it's not equipped with all the stealth, but it has got extremely long-range missiles that can fired from further than most aircraft. It's very agile, it's made for dogfighting. And the variable sweep wings...(it has wings that move, spread out, or fold like a bird)Ooooh. Even if your country only had three of these, the intel you can gain from the radar alone... Let's just say that you need these just like you need some Warthogs! Check it out, you'll love it! Also, TopGun...

There was another reason to put all those luxuries on the Typhoon. The Soviet navy used conscript sailors. So they were taking a bunch of people who might not want to be there, putting them in a metal box and sending them to the bottom of the ocean for six months. With a lot of nukes. It was really important to keep their morale up.

Artur, NATO designations were sometimes different than Russia's because they didn't always know which whip they were tracking when a NATO submarine stumbled across the sub during sea trials, so the acoustic signature was given a designation while the sub was tracked, when the first one was encountered she became the 20th unique signature in the computer. 6 Akula/Typhoons were built by USSR but 18 Ohios were built by the USA. Akulas had 20 missiles with 10 warheads, 100,000 ton TNT blast each, Ohios had 24 missiles with 8 to 12 warheads. So the USA was out building the USSR on a lot of stuff.

Hello again, Artur...just a couple of things to keep in mind. First, around 2:00 into the video, you comment on the Typhoon having 2 reactors and Chernobyl having 4...but the total power output of the reactors on the sub is tiny compared to that of Chernobyl. The Typhoon has 2 reactors with a total of 190 megawatts of thermal output, while Chernobyl had 4 reactors with a total of 12,800 megawatts. Also, the operational range of the latest model of the Trident II SLBM that America uses is over 12,000 kilometers...the range they stated in the video is for the original version of the Trident I missile.

Soviet era Reactors were of lower quality, and were of lower efficiency. They were larger and required larger cooling plants. This increased the size of the nuclear plant. This actually benefits the weapons plant by a large margin, because it makes the square area they had to add payloads and magazines by that much more, not to mention crew compliment spaces and crew mess spaces. Things were more spacious for crews where larger class submarines like these where they had to compliment inefficient designs with larger frames.

I highly recommend reacting to the Ohio Class now that you've watched the Typhoon. I think then you'll see that the Russians have no such edge in submarines. Especially when you realize the US built 18 Ohios to the 6 Russian Typhoons and the Ohios could be argued to be just, or close to, as effective as a Typhoon with their armament. Not to mention those 18 Ohios are still active today.

Oh Artur. I recommend doing a video of the Russian sub class Alfa. The Ferrari of the sub world. A reported top speed 47+ knots submerged (was briefed about it when I was in the navy a long time ago. It was the reason that the US Navy developed the MK48 ADCAP torpedo, top speed 55 knots, 2600 ft depth. also a good vid thought for the torpedo itself). It had a full titanium hull, had a liquid metal primary loop in the reactor, and the Russians claimed back on the day that it could dive to a possible 4k feet 2k test depth, but wiki says test depth is about 1200. That and it's just a pretty good looking piece of kit. Aloha from Hawaii bro keep the vids coming.

This sub is still the coolest. It was actually smart. Huge so it can basically just be a nuclear missile base parked off the shore of your enemy and strike within 15-30 minutes maybe faster. And stay there for 120 days and do it on comfortable accommodations it actually nice. If you look at Ohio vs typhoon you'll see Ohio has pipes and everything all over and in typhoon it's all hidden and clean looking and you can walk around without having to suck or hit your head. Actually very nice to do. Just park 15 miles from Washington D.C. and have a sauna maybe a swim when not on watch. Goto the weight room. Goto the room that's made to look like it has windows and is good for the mind. It really does have the best idea for moral in every way.
