So excited to share this reaction! As mentioned in the KZread community post, some recent reaction videos have been getting flagged for copyright infringement, even when they are produced in fear use - thank goodness this wasn’t one of them! Dr. Dray is so amazing and I’m excited to be able to share my reactions to her routine - and learn a few things at the same time! Be sure to go check out her original video, linked here!! kzread.info/dash/bejne/oH6etdN6od22Zs4.html Enjoy!

amelia I would say that people aren’t using the wisdom given to them, and instead are solely relying on a influencer, for something like skin cancer. My brother had a basal cell carcinoma scrapped out of his head, and a melanoma surgically removed, again from his head. KZread played no part in seeking treatment. This Is a big deal, that you should be vigilant about. How to’s for hair and makeup? Sure. To not know about skin cancer, moles changing shapes? If that’s a problem, I’m afraid only Dray followers would see or think that.

That could very well be the case and while this doesn't apply to you I've seen a lot of people who take some weird joy in mocking her because of her weight and making fun of her looks and saying that people shouldn't take things she says about skincare seriously due to this. What exactly is the logic these people are following, if you really think somebody has an eating disorder your first instinct/knee jerk reaction is to mock them, call them ugly, and then call them stupid for "not realizing it"? Wow, how very enlightened, you're so smart, so much smarter than that person for having an illness, good for you! Only stupid people get illnesses and they shouldn't be trusted! Eating disorders are a type of mental illness, it is a constant fight with yourself and your own mind and the distorted perception you have of your body, what decent person thinks that it's okay and normal to mock people due to struggling with this and say these people should be treated with disdain? I've come across some really nasty things being said about her in skincare reddit communities where people just inexplicably take some weird holier-than-thou joy in gossiping about her like a group of spiteful old ladies and comparing her to this and that cartoon character or whatever. It's so bizarre and twisted. What kind of "concern" is wrapped up in so much vicious snark? If you truly believe somebody is going through something as painful and difficult to get rid of as an eating disorder, what the hell are you so insufferably smug and snarky about? What really gets me is that they genuinely believe they're somehow better people while acting this way. If you had an ounce of basic kindness or empathy, would this be the way to approach somebody you think is unwell? A lot of people who perversely claim to be "concerned" really seem to be to just be bullies who feel better about themselves and feel a little thrill of power when they say awful things about people, they also seem to enjoy feeling like they're "bringing down" a person in the public eye who is liked and respected by a lot of people. That'll show her for being popular on youtube! You think you're so smart well, gotchya! I've seen very similar behaviour towards actresses or pubic figures and whatnot that are clearly going through something in their lives and it's downright surreal to witness the mockery and passive-aggressive dislike of people for....having an illness that distorts their own perception of themselves? I really hope these people never have a friend with an eating disorder, I can only imagine the type of "support" they would offer. "Uh...just stop being sick? lol I really can't take you seriously when you're being so dumb, go eat a sandwich." Ah, problem solved.

@@PS-bn6st - agreed. More veggies in our diets are a good thing, but by my estimate, she's eating upwards of 60 grams of fiber per day which isn't necessary. I also noticed with her (and other vegans I know), that there's a trend to not eating fat of any kind; fats in nuts are OK, but no olive oil in the cooking process or avocado oil in a salad dressing. I don't know why that is, but I have many vegan friends who refuse to have oil when healthy oils consumed in moderation are good for you and studies show (I think University of Idaho did a study) and aid in absorption of macro nutrients. I don't understand the obsession behind being so restrictive of foods that are 'perceived' to be unhealthy, especially when scientific evidence states otherwise. I do understand (and support) the desire to be kind to animals and eating for the planet, I am behind that 1000%, but to this extreme? Nope. There's a happy medium.

To your comment about dermatologists using fewer products as compared to most influencers, I think that in many ways it comes down to motivations. Dermatologists careers are not built around selling you a multitude of products that may or may not work but instead would rather you use products that are likely to help you. This means promoting and using products which have usually been vetted, have been peer reviewed, and (may!) have been around for longer. As influencers typically make their livelihood from trying out and promoting new products, there is a huge incentive to have large, multilayer, and complicated routines as it gives them more opportunities to sell different products. While both influencers and dermatologists are expected to have good skin for dealing with clients, dermatologists don't have the advantage of studio lighting and camera filters. In other words, bad skin days from experimenting with new products would likely be difficult to hide and/or justify (office lights tend to not be the most forgiving 😉). This is not me saying derms good, influencer bad, but rather that the two business models are different and that it's important to understand that when making your own decisions.

IMO these are conversation that should be brought up by close friends and family not strangers on the internet. I'm sure she's heard the concern over and over and has probably tuned it out. Dr. Dray has a SERIOUS eating disorder. You can see her belly protruding from malnutrition, as well has the sallow color of her skin and sunken cheeks. If you watch her what I eat in a day videos, she eats SO much in vegetables but avoids ANY kind of fats, even healthy fats, like they are the plague. She also avoids carbs and is extremely obsessed about her food. ALL of these are classic eating disorder behaviors, and I really hope she will one day recognize and come to terms with this issue, so she can heal and have a truly healthy life. She seems like such a sweetheart, and I'd hate to see her permanently damage her organs from her intense restrictive diet. She's eating so much Fiber that her body isn't absorbing the necessary nutrients she's trying to get out of these vegetables. It truly breaks my heart.

Her hair doesn’t look healthy to me at all and looks very bridle . There’s nothing wrong with being thin but she looks unhealthy. I used to watch her but I started noticing more how unhealthy she looks reminds me of my grandmother. (My grandmother is bulimic ) She deletes comments talking anything negativity around her:( . I know this comment won’t get attention bc many won’t agree. There’s a difference between being healthy skinny and unhealthy skinny. I recently watched a professional Nutritionist react and talk about Dr Dray's eating vlogs. The main concern was the lack of oils in her diet; We know that not all oils are bad, and in fact many good fats are needed for our health. Watching her put on that head light device in hopes of growing her hair, I can't help but want to somehow *tell* her: "Dr Dray, PLEASE add good oils to your diet! I could almost guarantee your hair will grow out thick and shiny, if that's what you are going for." ❤

I agree, and thank you for posting this comment. I commented something on this too! I stand by it and your comment..I love dr.dray too, but we CANNOT SUPPORT somebody so clearly living with an eating disorder that is so educated and has such a big platform! She is getting worse and it breaks my heart, and I honestly find it irresponsible to NOT call it out and to ignore it and others concerns. She will never get help if people continue supporting her, and I know it’s hard to decide to stop supporting somebody, but if everybody stopped supporting and told her that it’s because she refuses to get help, then MAYBE, just maybe, she would finally actually get serious help.

Cassandra Bankson I respect your comment, but you need to understand that she is an educated woman that knows what she is doing and has an INCREDIBLY large platform that is refusing to get help. Not addressing it will end with her dying FAR too soon and will also affect so many others that look up to her! I see it as being even more harmful than Eugenia because she is a doctor. This is not the kind of influence girls and young women (or any women and men for that matter) need! I love Dr.dray and I’ve supported her since she has under 200 subs, but I eventually had to stop once ai saw her getting worse again (she was looking better for a period of time, but now she is much worse). The speculations are not coming out of nowhere. She is showing every sign of it, despite me hoping for a long time years ago that it wasn’t true. I have watched her get worse and worse, and I have personally experienced a lot of death in my life from a very young age..I just can’t watch her slowly kill herself too. I miss watching her videos and I believe I am still subscribed, but ai no longer watch her videos. She’s gotten too sick for me to continue watching. 🥺☹️

Would love to know the brand you used as well, because if it worked for you it might be more reputable! I’m so happy that you enjoyed this video! Love you, love this butterfly community, and love Dr. Dray!

@@CassandraBankson You are the absolute sweetest. 💓 I bought the SkinClinical Reverse Anti-Aging Light Therapy wand for ALL my wrinkles. I was in Marshalls.. Just looking around & stumbled across it. It was about 25.00$ (I thought that was reasonable) & was like... Why not. (I've tried EVERY skin cream known to man... Why not this.) BUT.. like I said... It took almost 6 months before i saw results... & You HAVE to keep it up. I had gotten a really nice comment on my skin from someone (who NEVER says anything about stuff like that) I knew then, it really does work. Love you & all the beautiful butterflies 💓💓💓

I would have tried it too, as you said if it was a no go at least it was 25$ and not like 500$!, though a 25$ flop is still a lot of money lol! but don't you think she knows that she is a dermatologist? Honestly, you act as you know more than most people it's annoying because you also state false claims. Yes you can wash your face one a day it's not the end of the world, you tend to overreact. Also you dont need to be a doctor to have access for tretinoin you can get it prescribed from a doctor or through cureology. It's better than retinol and cheaper. It's easier to get than you think.

@Kaylie xoxo More like comments Dr Dray herself finds "negative"; A *lot* of commenters simply asking a question about skin care. I've seen it personally. Many others have as well. I do wish Dr Dray the best. It's clearly not just an eating disorder she's struggling with. Although, being in a state of malnutrition can absolutely cause brain fog / mood swings, etc. making it so she isn't viewing her comments appropriately. In any case, it is perfectly fine, healthy even, to unsubscribe/opt out of viewing a channel in which with the large platform given, ultimately promotes an unhealthy lifestyle. To answer another question above: YES she does do "What I Eat in a Day" videos and other vlogs regarding her diet and daily habits. It's not just a channel about skin care.

everyone's hair is different, it's not a "myth" that you shouldn't wash your hair every day for each and every person, and there are a lot of factors regarding the type of hair you have that determine how frequently you should wash. as with anything, it's also highly important what products you use. not criticizing, just putting that out there because using the word "myth" here is simply not accurate. stripping your hair is just as much of an issue as stripping your skin :)

@@PassionPno That's strange. Cause I live in the Caribbean (also tropical weather) which means lots of humidity. That means most women here (who do not have naturally straight hair) get botox or keratin treatments to fight off the humidity and frizz, or always blow out their hair straight after every wash, which is a lot of work. So stylists here are not telling women to wash their hair everyday.

@@crystalmiller1997Gross?? Really? We're doing childish/teenage insults here? If your hair is straight and slick and requires washing everyday, that's ok. But not everyone's hair is like yours Crystal. There are hair types that don't even start to produce noticable oil until the second or third day after washing, and will in fact be more prone to dryness and breakage from washing and stripping the hair of its necessary oils everyday. As a kid I would wash my hair every single day and what resulted was dry brittle cotton candy big hair. Now as an adult I know that my hair texture does not benefit from everyday washing. I would like for you to keep researching and learning about other hair textures different from your own, and their individual needs, before you call anyone's hair routine GROSS again.

Honestly, this channel is the reason I picked up products by the Ordinary (including the BHA AHA peel). It's interesting to hear both sides of this, and listening to myths of hair and skin care being busted. I was raised thinking that tight feel of the skin meant I was clean. I was raised thinking that you're supposed to wash the hair, not the scalp (never mind HOW to wash the scalp when you have thick, curly hair). I'm now almost 40, and I'm learning things from you.
