It was 70 last week and this morning its in the 20's with snow. 😒

I was looking to buy a boat to do some salmon fishing until i saw the prices of 20’ boats are inflated out of this world. Probably better to fish on a charter or from land

My Big Jon Brutes have some serious speed, which is what I prefer. But I’d say the best speed is whatever you’re comfortable with.

Hi@@tangledtacklefishing, Hi Chris, I have an old Canon Mag 10a that's slow and seems like it's gonna explode and I have a new Canon Magnum 10 STX that has like you say....serious speed. I've never had a line tangled in a downrigger cable and I just wonder if the fast speed dooms any reasonable attempt to save a tangle. I don't recall I ever had to wait on the Mag 10a because you are usually busy with something else while the ball is coming up. Thanks Chris

​@scottgarbs7761 another potential issue with running them too fast is in the event your clutch is too tight and you slam the clip into the neck. Had an issue on the other side of the boat and looked away for 2 seconds, and all I heard was a plunk. Lost a 16lb torpedo and a fish hawk probe end of last season from that.

Hi, My fast downrigger scares me. I have my probe on my slow downrigger. The clutch on my slow rigger is adjusted for the reason you cite. I wish I could turn the speed down on my scary fast rigger. I think you could use a pulse width modulator to slow the speed but I'm confident doing so would void the warranty. I may try it anyway.

Is capt Matt still making the rip cords for DW?
