The Espin Nesta is a Class 3 foldable all-terrain electric bike that has proved to be quite the jack of all trades. The Nesta comes with a 750W motor, 48V, 10.5Ah battery and a 100mm suspension fork. Between all of the components and comfort aspects of this bike there is a lot to like about the Nesta.
During the Espin Nesta review we conducted multiple tests to get a better understanding of how the Nesta compares to other foldable fat tire electric bikes that we have tested like the RadMini 4, and Lectric XP. While we won't give away the results in this KZread description we were very impressed with the Nestas performance.
The Espin Nesta is one of the better bangs for your buck we have seen this year. If you are struggling to decide what type of electric bike to get we would recommend looking into this one. It isn't one specific style of bike.
The Nesta can be your commuter, exploration bike or your grocery-getter. Between the versatility and price point the Espin Nesta is a great choice for just about anyone who wants to pedal an electric bicycle.
Keep riding and enjoy the review!

    I've been looking for an e-bike with these features for awhile, but hadn't found one at anywhere near this price point. I want a versatile bike for around the neighborhood so I don't have to pedal too hard in 115° summer temps to get to the pool and I can use out in campgrounds or on trails. I'm not a small person, so the strong frame and larger motor with good torque are critical. I've watched hours of your reviews and really appreciate your detailed effort.

    I live in SF and am disabled. My doctor wants me to get an e-bike to help improve my health. I like the folding because well small apartment. I had neck surgery and need the balance that a bike would give back to me. Is this a good bike for me or can you recommend something else. I live in an area with many different roads to smooth to crappy, railway tracks, and lots of different terranes. The average grade in my neighborhood is 25%. Is this a good bike?

  • @ElectricBikeReport

    @ElectricBikeReport

    2 жыл бұрын

    We haven't tested the Rattan so we couldn't speak to that one. For the record, I don't think you can go wrong with either. The Nesta has a slightly bigger battery, but it also has a larger motor. That's good and bad - it'll give you a little more power and make hills easier, but it would also consume more battery too. Hydraulic brakes provide better stopping power. It is programmed out of the box at class 3 so a little faster too. (XP can be changed though to go faster). It costs more than the XP, but you are definitely getting more in a lot of areas so you're largely getting what you pay for. The XP is great and $500 less on price so that's a huge plus obviously, but you do step down on battery and motor power a little bit. It is one of the best selling bikes for $1K for a reason though, people love them, and we're sucker for finding a way to hide the batteries so we like the aesthetics a little better too. We romped around more offroad with this one too, but both bikes hold up similarly for light offload. Again, largely similar bikes, some slightly better components on the Nesta which justifies the amount you spend, but it might come down to price or looks in the end for you. Hope it helps!

    Pierce, you mentioned that you like the components on this bike. Given that the derailleur and brakes, S-ride and Zoom, respectively, are relatively unknown budget brands why do you like seeing them on the Nesta? Do you have long-term experience with them as far as quality and durability? I’ve owned this bike a couple of weeks. It seems solid but it’s too early to review it as I’ve haven’t been able to ride it much with the weather turning cold.

  • @ElectricBikeReport

    @ElectricBikeReport

    Like many we had some apprehension with the components since they aren't names we're as familiar with such at Tektro or Shimano, but given that they performed well on the tests we were pretty happy with them. Longevity is still to be determined, but we can't fault them for how they've done up front at least.

  • @donkrause3410

    @donkrause3410

    You said the brakes are quality, that they should withstand the test of time and that you are big fan of Zoom brakes. After I heard you say that I started researching the brakes (and derailleur). I found very little info on either so was naturally curious as to why you said that. It was the only part of the review (which was excellent) that left me wondering. When I first saw your review I did not own the bike and your review helped me decide to buy it. Since I had researched the components I knew what I was getting into and that I could always swap out the brakes. Also, I didn’t see any branding whatsoever on the brakes themselves so I’m going by what the company and you said. Do happen to know why these brakes would have no branding on them? All the pictures online have the Zoom logo.

  • @donkrause3410

    @donkrause3410

    I should also point out that as far as hydraulic brakes go, what matters most are the seals as they are the most likely to fail. And it’s hard to tell whether the seals are any good by outward appearance.

    I heard from the company that they may decrease the handlebar stem height in the next version to be more accommodating or shorter riders. The height of the handlebars is a personal preference and some people may like have them higher or lower. It certainly makes for an upright riding position for shorter people. I’m 5’8” and find the lowest setting fine and could even raise it an inch or two and not be too high. But if your doing a lot of dirt riding on hills you’re better off with more weight on the handlebar. That said, this bike is not intended for technical MTB-type riding. It will do just fine on beginner trails. But if you want to do downhill and jumping get a bike made for that so you don’t kill yourself.

    What beginners to electric bikes don't quite grasp unless they have some awareness or background in phyiscs is most all these reviews are basically a sales pitch in regard to performance. It all comes down to four basics no matter the nonsense the goofball is selling on-screen. Is it a Mid Drive or a Hub? What is the motor size of either the mid-drive or Hub? What is the tire diameter, and to a lesser extent what is the tire width? And lastly what is the battery specs? Everything else is too small of a variable to really matter. Trouble is, most of these fluff videos brush off the most important specs to sell you on other nonsense.
