Have a great weekend!
Tanks you also a good weekend
We used to make Cane syrup, in a 4-5 week period we made over 500-600 gallons for our family and friends,
THANKS SAM WILL DO THANKS
What beautiful country side. Looks like a nice place to live. If you have any walnut trees around they make great syrup also. John and mary.
Good weekend Ashley and Jeremy, good day to Sam !
It’s great to see the snow melting away.. makes life (and building)a lot easier .
Hello guys great video 📸! Thanks for sharing it! Blessings from Texas 🇵🇷🇺🇸

Have a good Weekend, Sunday will be sunny and 8 deg! here in NS
Vary awesome indeed. Nice 👍 on getting the maple syrup started. I hope it will come out right so I can see it real soon. Take it easy and have a great day too. Okay.
Now that joke Ashley was funny I could see that happening a comical situation for sure thanks for the chuckle.

Goooood Morning Guys! SWEET!!! Things are really coming together..,Keep it up ⬆️ 🔥💚🤞
Yay! MBF 2.0 is officially back in business! I know this is only the first boil and there likely won't be any surplus to sell, but it's a start. With all the building and early development of the new Homestead it's a wonder you even have the time to boil at all. Looking sweet! The sap looks pretty sweet too.😉🙃

When you said we need a leaner log for you knees and Ashley said “oh yeah” I was waiting for the clip from Fargo😀😀. Hope Miss Sam’s channel is a big success. Should always take Ashley with you when checking the trail cam. If you run into a bear you only need run faster than her 😂🤣. Thanks for the video, great way to start my morning. Thanks guys, have a wonderful weekend.👍👍🇨🇦

The ski centers up in the mountains here in Upstate NY are closing soon, bears starting to wake up, and not good for business if the bears eat the patrons :) BTW I liked Sam's videos! Tell her I like the Calico Critters adventures! So nice to watch a child's imagination. Very innocent and fun. We all need to play like this more often and get away from the burdens of grown up life.
There it is again, that fanny!
Tell Sam great channel. Can’t wait for more videos!
Your going to have a nice batch of fresh maple syrup to use on pancakes ! Love the channel, be safe, stay healthy, & God Bless everyone.

Sand works good in the bottom of that barrel. I once put "free sand" from the town in there, had road salt mixed with it... once it was used all winter, turn into rock solid!! LMAO!!!

What about an overhang for your woodpile with the extra pieces of metal? Then you won’t have to mess with tarps all winter like at the last place.
Do you have a big stir stick similar to the one used to stir applebutter?
Sap will freeze so if it's a couple of inches thick you will lose some sugar if you toss it. Collect some of the ice and let it melt in a bucket inside then check it with a sap hydrometer to see what percent sugar is in it.

I had to give you a thumbs up just for the joke alone. Enjoy your videos. Enjoy life and live your dream.
Nice to see that roof coming together and sap being boiled again! Good joke. I also like the orange hoodie. You have to be willing to spend the whole day boiling the sap I imagine?

That was very funny what u did to the driver sounds like what I would do
Where all from ?? I'm in Wisconsin. Used to make maple syrup every spring. We use to use bags and buckets then got smarter/not harder and switched to a pipe line. Did that for 30 odd some years.

We are in Canada, we just sold our last property where we tapped 100 trees last year. We basically just threw a few taps in this year last minute. We have no problem using the old bucket system, and we dont think that makes anyone less smart ;) Its good for ya to move around a bit ;) Have a good weekend.
How much have you spent on building your cabin so far?
Question: Have you ever tasted the sap before the boil? Is it sweet?
@MBFModernHomesteading
2 жыл бұрын
Yes and sometimes depending on the sugar content of the tree. Some are more concentrated than others. Sam loves to test it, she is the on site expert.
With frozen sap. This is what someone told me. Freeze pops are frozen in freezer and there is sugar in them. I have always boiled down the frozen sap. Good Luck
Looks like the boiler is working fine. Was that the finished product at the end ? Just wondering if you brought it back to the farm for the final boil part or did it in the pans ?
@MBFModernHomesteading
2 жыл бұрын
Yes it was and we finished it off on the turkey fryer like we have in the past :)
That was a great joke.
How long can you get the sap for 1 tree? Can you leave the taps in them indefinitely or do you have to remove them at some point so you don't damage the tree? This is new to me and I'm realy interested in the process of making maple syrup.
@MBFModernHomesteading

You need to take the tap out at the end of the season and it will heal over naturally.

How long does that have to boil? Then you have to boil a 2nd time, Right? At any rate with the melting snow, it will make building a little easier.
@MBFModernHomesteading

It take a few hours to boil down and then we continue the final boil on a turkey fryer a lot of the time to get it down to syrup.
I noticed that you guys weren’t wearing any gloves in most of your video. Ashley those metal buckets looked awfully cold with bare hands. Brrr 🥶. You guys have a good weekend to. 👍

Teresa, you may want to watch a little more than 5 seconds before throwing stones, we tell a joke at the start of every video. In the first 5 seconds, I wasn't even finished telling the joke ;) .... Also, you like your own comment, now that is funny lol ;) .....In all seriousness, have a good one and wait a little longer than 5 seconds to judge someone, life will be way better :) Have a great week!

The screws go in the valleys not on the peeks
@MBFModernHomesteading
Жыл бұрын
That is a debate many people have had, we have put on a few metal roofs and always go in the peeks, it works great. We know lots of others who do the same, but we also know that some do them in the valleys. We prefer the peeks but whatever you prefer, go ahead and do as you wish. All the best Brent.

@@MBFModernHomesteading thanks for the reply guys take care
I noticed you guys are putting the screws on the ridges, others I watch put the screws on the flats because it is easier to rake the roof even though I never knew snow on a metal roof to be a problem, it usually slides off... any reason you guys put it on the ridges?
@MBFModernHomesteading
2 жыл бұрын
We have always put it on this way and it is the common way to do it around here. Sorry I cant give you a better reason other than that is just how we always have done it and how most do it around here.

Good job getting an early boil done. Maybe don't wear an underarmor brand sweat shirt while pushing Ariat? Take off the sweat shirt for the sponsorship video.
