The way the instrumental plays on the normal level fun fits so well. It feels like you are only passing by the level, not going deep into it, only taking a glance at the horrors it has. Then, once you return, you are at the heart of the level, with the backrooms themselves singing the whole song to you. aaaand this is also great for karaoke of course :D

So, so, so, creepy. The song you would think is a kid’s birthday party song from the 90s or early 2000s, but then you listen to the lyrics of it.. and I was shocked by them. I think I’m not the only one who was shocked by how creepy they are, right?

This is the first thing in this game that has truly given me that liminal space feeling. Great job

The vocal version is used in LEVEL FUN+, and the instrumental version is used in the first LEVEL FUN.

My friend just :FIRE THE HOLD!! And then showed the party host how the bomb bounced off the wall and hit him. And then the partygoers came out and took one look at his body and turned around and bit me, and we were just screaming at each other LMFAO

I'm so glad, thank you lmao! I wanted the melody to be catchy & easy-ish to remember, while also being backed by various harmonious yet dissonant chords. If I had to guess, I'd say the song mainly consists of 7th, diminished, and suspended chords. In general though, I just placed a buncha notes in FL Studio until it sounded fitting in my opinion.

In0mnic you and fancy have inspired me to create my own backrooms game and music! I’m actually working on a song that is similar to your RUN for it! Song and it sounds really good! I’m thinking of releasing my game in a couple of weeks and I will start uploading the OSTs on my YT. Thank youuu I'm so glad it gives that vibe!! ;; I made sure to use as little realistic instruments as possible, and relied mainly on lo-fi soundfonts (like I have with most of the OSTs). That's the EXACT feeling I'm going for with the instruments.

Hmm... I think you're either talking about two things. The power-drill esque noise between sections, are those lip-shaped fan-things you blow into. Mine's quite old, so it sounded perfectly janky for the song. If you're talking about the intro, then that's a kazoo!

YOOOO thank you so much!! I used Serum to synthesize it! It's essentially a sawtooth waveform with unison and a lowpass filter with high resonance (for that vowely sound). Layered on top of that main bass, is another saw wave being FMed (frequency modulated) with _another_ sawtooth. The FMing gives the bass that strange quivery raspy sound. It's one of my favorite bass synths I've made, so this comment really made my day. ;0;

Unfortunately not, at least none that I know of. :/ I think most of this song would be impossible to play on real instruments, as I just placed a bunch of MIDI notes until it sounded right in my ears. But thank you!

Glad you asked! It's... Kinda in this grey area between royalty free & copyrighted. You can use it in KZread videos & various other forms of content. Unless it's another video game, or commercial film (like, theatrical/industry releases). Mainly because these OST's were specially tailored to Escape the Backrooms, and it wouldn't make much sense to have them in other products. In short: Don't worry about Content ID snatching it!
