You hear a horror song, or theme it will set the theme for a nightmare but you won't HEAR the music. Google "Cant hear music in dreams" It's possible but rare, you'd be in an out of REM stage. meaning your not really sleeping. I said the same thing, i could swear i heard the Super Mario theme in one of my dreams when Mario was on TV but i had to think about it and the dream was only ABOUT Mario, I didn't hear the music.

I’ve interpreted the backrooms as another dimension trying to imitate reality but it struggles to do so. Kind of like AI pictures; it’s close but you can sense something off. Similar to the uncanny valley. The backrooms lie in the uncanny valley of reality instead of people. And I think this song does a great job of capturing that with its weird ass lyrics like urethra bugs and chewing on door handles

It would make sense, the whole lore is that the Backrooms was man-made, or at least a place that's taken high inspiration from it. The rooms look like something built by AI, it knows how things look but lacks knowledge of what it's creating. Making all these weird walls, repeated rooms, doors that lead to nothing or something that shouldn't be possible. Then there's also the creatures in these levels that seem to take hold as familiar threats/phobias that people have. This level having an eye that watches you in every room and won't let you leave (everyone's eye is on the birthday person, and you're expected to have SOME interaction with the guest), the eerie music with people singing weirdly about how the day is about you (When people awkwardly sing happy birthday). or Level 9 (darken suburbs) how the two main monsters are the humanoid meat sack with a crowbar (An intruder) and the giant eye that walks down the empty streets (A stalker)

Hi, massive music dweeb here, and I happen to really like this song! So, I'm gonna do a quick analysis of it. So firstly, the instrumental itself. It starts out as this simple, child-like tune, like something you'd hear playing behind a nursery rhyme. Then, very quickly it descends into this slightly warbled and heavy synthesized sound, backed by a low bass. It communicates the "something is wrong just below the surface" feeling excellently. All the while, the more innocent sounding instruments linger on. Its like *the backrooms itself* is attempting to replicate "party music." Then there's the lyrics, which are mostly like a garbled approximation of some kind of birthday celebration song. Sometimes however, there are moments of coherence, which really carry the song's eerie tone. The highlight for me is probably 2:23, right before the song's final descent. The way "its your day" is switched out for "its your fault" is simple, but it catches the listener off guard and sets the tone for the song's finale, which is much more straight-forward and outright sinister. Its also probably the highlight of the vocal performance. The entire existential rant, the song itself pleading for you to run, and then finally a return to incoherence with "please make sure you sleep without her ankles in your throat." I also just appreciate the effort to create the song. You very well could have just taken some stock, free-to-use children's music, chopped it up, and thrown a spooky distortion filter over it. Instead you gave us this surreal, goofy, and slightly off-putting work of art.

I don't usually write comments, but this song amazed me. It is a perfect song for a surreal and lucid place. Just like the Backrooms, "You Day!" takes parts of human creations (words, music) and sews them together. The melody is corrupted, the lyrics don't make much sense but that does not stop you from seeing it as a birthday song - just like yellow walls and the buzzling lamps make us think that we are in an office, despite there being no furniture or people. Amazing.

I absolutely love your stuff. Especially with the new EtB Update. You did a great job with the OST, especially cause this song fits Fun+ so much. Especially with the eerie-ness, the weird but in a way good lyrics, and the subtle hints of a hostage situation with the party-goers or the party-hosts. I can't wait to hear what you release next!

I am so excited, the fun+ level was my favorite level and I absolutely adore this song! I am so glad we’ll finally be able to hear the lyrics clearly, I have been so curious about them as for a lot of other people.

Also another commenter pointed out that the term you day sounds like party goers don't fully get birthday parties but try to mimic the atmosphere and music anyways. Sounds almost like the person singing this song is being held captive by the party goers because they need music so he just sings random ass things and sometimes drops lines about 1. how he's been thinking about death, 2. Various things in level fun you should be scared of, and 3. Yelling at you to run. Edit: a couple things I noticed. Sometimes the lyrics get distorted and start talking about cannabalism, I'm assuming this is the party goers attempts at adding some lyrics to the song which makes it so much worse/better. Also "This is not a cry for help it's just a normal song". Man, there should be a level fun++ where we save this guy frfr

after the torture of spending three hours on fun+ listening to this music with my friend throwing fireworks at me I aint saving this man.

This is good in the special kind of way that makes you squint at your screen trying to decide if you should keep this to yourself or 'bless' your friends with the sudden and probably unwanted knowledge of it existing.

This song is the most unhinged thing I have heard in a while.

I was stuck for like 2 hours in this level so i got a really good listen to this song and i still havent gotten the lyrics right, this is just the perfect amount of crazy and i love it. Well done bro

I finished this game just yesterday with some friends, and this reminds me of when we started it (litterally last week) this last part, idk how to explain it. It makes me kinda nostalgic (despite only playing it for the first time last week), it makes me sad that this game is still kinda short, I’m excited for it to be expanded on, and for the proper ending, but knowing how games like this aren’t exactly the best for replayability, it wont be the same. I just wish I could experience this game once again for the first time, over the 4 nights we played it for, I got used to it, but I wasn’t ready for it to end so suddenly. This is definitely a great game.

I am listening to this on my birthday and I can tell you that this song is perfect.

idk if im the only one who felt this way but listening to this song i felt deeply unsettled, i also had this weird theory that whoever is singing this song is being forced to and clearly doesnt want to, like saying things like "this is not a cry for help its just a normal song" or "sometimes what scares me most is that no one knows what lies ahead after we close out eyes one last time" and how the guy keeps screaming "run", i really think theyre being forced to sing this but idk could just be a stupid thought
