Word! Great composer and player. Bassist Dan moved on and started Tonbruket, which is a personal favourite along with EST (if you haven't, check out Tonbruket, it's some top notch jazz-rock) It was a sad day when we got to know about Esbjörn's passing. I heard once "Tuesday Wonderland", then got a hold of a few albums... sold for life. I'd be tempted to say he's "underrated" but anyone familar ith the music will rate him accordingly. That trio was on FIRE all the time, in the studio and live.

This man made the best muisc to ever hit my ears - I was fortunat enough to get him and his band to sign my tickets in 2007 Buxton Theatre UK, and still own tickets for the Brecon Jazz concert 2008 which never took place due to the absence of this great man.

He was indeed humble. I met him in 2007 in Budapest after their concert (best concert in my life), and I said him: "i really enjoyed the concert." he said:" Thank you for listening" and gave me a BIG smile. His charisma was like sunshine. He also gave me autograph to their smiling picture along with Magnus Öström and Dan Berglund.

It just struck me that both Esbjörn and Lyle Mays had very similar and fearless approaches to keyboards. No wonder Metheny joined EST for a few gigs. I miss Esbjörn and Lyle so much. Absolute legends.

He has less respect for jazz than any jazz musician I have ever heard. I don't even understand why he even did it.
