Erik Prince's Push to Privatize the Afghanistan War

Former Blackwater CEO Erik Prince is now lobbying to deploy mercenaries instead of the US military in order to bring the 17-year war in Afghanistan to an end. We discuss the proposal with Antony Loewenstein, author of "Disaster Capitalism"

History suggests otherwise. The Two (British) Afghan Wars in the 19th century WERE fought by "private" armies...the armies of the British East India Company. Both were disasters. In the end a decision was made by the East India Company to leave Afghanistan alone. 150 years later the Afghans still want to be left alone. The US has a "dominance" problem that will destroy it in the end if it does not find a way of living with countries who refuse to do what they are told.....I predicted a "helicopter off the roof" debacle just like at the fall of Saigon 17 years ago. I still think it will happen. ignorance of the past + astonishing hubris+ apparently vast power mean it is sure to happen.

At the present time about 40% of us army personnel engaged in war theaters around the world are composed of mercenaries. War has been privatized all ready -- and war is now the major US export.

He is a very intelligent guy. And a nice guy too. I've had a few email conversations with him and he is as genuine and as Aussie as you can get. He's of Jewish origin and I am of Christian origin and we both agreed very simply that there are no excuses for these religions to be as corrupt as they are today and essentially we are athiest/agnostic. (Neither of us are or have ever practised either of them and like the typical Aussies we are, don't mind if others do. Just don't try to shove it down our throats).

What motive would a private army have for pulling out of a war that a government wouldn't have?

Probably it's just for the lulz. You know with these guys regular life is just too boring. they're pioneers, adventurers, explorers, leaders of men, caretakers of women. It's a way of BEing that most just simply can't ever comprehend.

Doktor McNasty - Agree about the individuals, a lot of them are psychopaths, (no feelings) so need something to excite them death and power over another human being! Some of them just greedy. That’s fine, but go and find an island somewhere and kill each other off, leave the rest of us alone!

I went to an EMT class with a young man who was a navy seal, blackwater tried to recruit him but he knew their game. They have a training course, a boot camp, that costs $20,000. If you successfully complete the boot camp and you toe the party line, then you become a mercenary, getting $100,000 per year tax free. If you don't support the Christian jihad of Eric Prince, blackwater would find a doctor to say that you have disability genetically to go to the theater of war and you have to pay for the boot camp.

They way the Americans win is to bring all our men and women home, stop all aggressive war behaviors and help Afghanistan rebuild what this government is responsible for destroying with money and resources. That’s what helps the citizens there and here. you will have peace

Yea, what about the innocent people who are killed thanks to criminal Americans that sign up for military sirvice? Robots are actually being tested for real time war combat to actually replace yank soldiers. The REAL VICTEMS are the innocent people that die because of the US empire and their European allies.
