Episode 19 of AOT the final season was called Two Brothers.
The name of this episode was ‘two brothers’ which is referring not just to the two Yeager brothers but also the two Grice brothers and the two Galliard brothers. In all of their situations we saw that the older sibling was trying to save the younger sibling from something, directly leading to the major outcomes that happened in this episode. To start things off, it begins with the attack titan limping towards Zeke so they can activate the founder, only for Galliard to intervene yet again by biting into into his leg. I imagine at this point in the fight Eren was just sick and tired of Porco annoying him, so he repeatedly smashed his hardened fist into the back of the jaw titans neck. By doing this he wasn’t just hurting the jaw titan itself but he was actually dealing significant damage to Porco’s human body inside.
Anyway before he could take that second shot against Zeke the Yeagerists then appear and their main goal was to prevent the General from firing again. As we can see Pieck was visibly angry at them for interfering but the Yeagerists didn’t care since down on the ground the beast titan was regaining consciousness. One of the first things he noticed was that Eren was having a hard time against Reiner and the armoured titan was even trying to Porco involved in the fight as well. This lead to one of the most important moments of the entire episode and I’ll explain what exactly’s going on here. In the past it’s been shown that physical touch between certain people can cause memories to appear and by Reiner reaching out to Galliard, it triggered a memory that belonged to his brother Marcel. Up until now Porco wasn’t able to see any of Marcel’s memories despite having the same titan, but in this new scenario he was able to witness a quick flashback. In this flashback Marcel admitted that Reiner was never supposed to be a warrior and it only happened because he sabotaged his younger brother to protect him. This specific memory is important since Porco has always resented Reiner for being picked as the armoured titan, as in his mind he was the better candidate. These feelings weren’t helped by the fact that Marcel then died to save Reiner’s life, making Porco believe that his brother would still be alive if he had been chosen instead. What this memory proves though, is that he was really the better candidate all along and his feelings of resentment towards Reiner were pointless, since Marcel’s love is the reason Porco never inherited the armor.
The memories then transition from one of Reiner begging Eren to kill him, to another from his childhood when Armin was playfully running away. Going past Armin’s hair we then see the main members of the reiss family and this memory belongs to grisha. An interesting detail is that there are clouds in the background to represent that the paradise this family had before Grisha showed up and the background changes to red to represent him killing them.
One of the easiest memories to miss though was one the one that belonged to Krueger and this showed up right after Falco’s appearance. Although the anime brushes past it super quickly this memory was clearer in the manga version and it’s of the moment when Kruger’s parents and sister were about to be set on fire by Marley. As he explained in his backstory, his dad was one of the original eldian restorationists and because of that connection his family was killed, while he could only watch on from his hiding place in the closet.
Things then turn upside down to show a very large bird flying towards fort salta and again im not gonna give away spoilers here, other than that to say that Fort Salta is a very important location in Marley and manga readers will know that this particular bird has significance as well.
The key to Grisha’s basement then appears on screen and transitions us into the final set of memories, the first of which is of Historia. In this scene she and eren were having a conversation about the future of the world and the future of the island and this took place before he went rogue in Marley.

From colt desperately trying to prevent Zeke's screaming..to pixis closing his eyes in acceptance..acceptance that his human life is now over to ultimately porco seeing his brother's memories and sacrificing himself.. that was pretty heartbreaking..this episode was painful

I saw what happened in a motion comic on you tube right after I finished season 4 part 1 I knew that they touched so eren was gonna survive but that’s where the manga ended I was shocked I thought for sure that was gonna be an episode Cliff hanger

The scene of Colt holding Falco as he transforms is just heartbreaking 💔
Reiner's scream (sub) when Falco's Titan charged at him was incredible voice acting. Really showed the panic Reiner was going through. The soundtrack throughout this episode was killer as well. Especially on the slow motion scenes with everyone becoming Titans and when time stops as Eren got shot. Amazing episode. Mappa have just killed it with the animation.

I saw this too. They show the look on Eren’s face when he sees Zeke about to scream…. He doesn’t want him to turn the people of paradis and his old comrades into pure titans. It’s already been mentioned by armin that he believes Eren wants to kill all enemies across the sea to protect the people on paradis. Them turning into pure titans goes against his goal

Another important point detail to notice for all non manga readers is how time froze and all the people battling in the war were in slow motion as Zeke made contact with Eren by catching his head. Once he did that, they obviously entered the Paths which is where time in the Paths realm is completely different from the earth's time. We see this through Zeke's explanation as he "Waited Years" for Eren to Wake up and recover. Zeke also says that "Things happen in instant here" which confirms whoever's plan Ymir chooses to go with (either Zeke's Euthanization plan or Eren Rumbling Plan) will INSTANTLY be carried out in the real world. So basically, the years Zeke and Eren spent in the paths are like split seconds in the real world.
I remember watching season 1 and the first section of 2 and thinking Aot was going to be a straightforward series but boy was I wrong. I’m so glad I was too.

Yeah. Just rewatched season 1 and it still holds up as a good stand alone. I question everyone being Spiderman more than how titans exist on rewatch.
TQ has like 10,000 IQ to pick up all these little things. You're a beast man!
This episode had me so overwhelmed that I had to pause in and between just to process everything even though I knew what was about to go down.

Porco was bitter but, in the end, he was also very loving and protective. Tbh I feel like he just knew he couldn't possibly survive and wanted his life to at least mean something by saving Falco.

@@beasttitanofficial3768 Yeah people tend to forget that Porco cared deeply for the Warrior candidates just like the other Warriors did, he has been shown many times acting like a big brother figure to them. I always interpreted his self-sacrifice as his way of emulating Marcel by paying forward his favor to Falco in order to give him a second chance at life.

Everything was awesome except for the spoiler and the title. It didn’t affect me because after having shows spoiled in the past by a simple thumbnail I don’t go on KZread until I’ve seen everything that’s currently airing. I see other people in the comments that are pretty upset about it and I get that - it is a big deal.

i absolutely LOVE these breakdowns and was obsessively checking youtube for when it was finally uploaded 😅 one crucial detail that i think was missed is when eren told zeke to wait on screaming for the pure titans. this seemed like such a strange moment and stuck out to me because zeke looked so shocked and reiner even got confused. something happened in that moment and i think that’s what triggered zeke’s memory of eren dropping the baseball. when zeke saw that eren didn’t want him to scream, it kind of revealed that eren actually wasn’t on the same page as zeke. and if eren agreed to the plan but in this moment wanted to stop zeke, then it must mean that eren could’ve lied about going along with other parts of the plan (including the eldian euthanasia) and that’s why zeke needed to test eren further. sorry for the rambling but i just couldn’t get that thought out of my head. it seems like eren is more of a good guy now than we thought but we’ll see!!!!!

YUP. It's hard for people to notice (which I rewatched it many times to make sure) It goes from Reiner's face to an even more close up shot of Zeke's face. Once realizing that Zeke clearly paused because of that, not because of colt.

Zeke is affected by the vow renouncing war even though he doesn't have coordinates, he mentions that in the years that he spent there while waiting for eren to be recovered, he found a way to remove that vow. But we don't know if it's only for him or for entire royal blood

... ya'know, Zeke probably could've just made it so Eldian bodies became incompatible with titan shifting. That would've essentially wiped out any chance of Marley further weaponizing titans as well as reducing the likelyhood that the world would deem curb-stomping a civilization that isn't even modernized necessary.

He's not effected by the vow because he does not hold the Founder Titan. Eren however does. He is not of royal blood so he can do whatever he wants with the power.
