Hey James, I worked as the airport manager there in American Falls from 2004-2014, and my family and I lived in that little house with the apple tree in the yard. Over the years living and working there, I restored 6 Ercoupes in that hangar with the American Falls sign on it. I've have greatly enjoyed following you your flying adventure to Oshkosh and back. Thanks for taking us along!

Hi James, Thanks for the reply! The guy in the wheel chair with the handle bar mustache that you spoke with is my good buddy, Mike. He owns the hangar next door to the county hangar there, and has a Cherokee 235 that we affectionately call "Rooster". Great stuff!

love that beautiful aircraft, it just moseys along and never appears to be in a hurry. It looks good as well. I have never seen one in the flesh so to speak. That sure was one creepy camp ground, I think I would have been at the side strip on the runway and took my chances! lol Like the bit at the end where she tells him to shut the video camera off again, brilliant.

Fun leg of the trip. Had to look up /U on the equipment suffix list. You definitely have a VFR only plane there. :-) Excited that you have been to so many states. I was born and raised in the US, but I've only been to 14 myself. You're making great progress.

I finally figured out why you are using a 1946 style throttle in your 48 Ercoupe. With your full panel there is not room for the 48 throttle, makes perfect sense now. Really enjoying your videos, takes me back to my flying days in the late 50's, navigation is just a bit different now, keep the videos coming!

Sometimes I feel guilty for using these modern nav aids. But on the other hand - why not improve my safety with them?! Different skills sets required for each. And in someways, they're not completely different. I'm still reading a VFR sectional chart, which is exactly the same as the paper one. The significant difference would be keeping track of where you are, without the moving blue dot; that would require paying a lot more attention to things moving past outside when you're in an unfamiliar area.

James, you appear totally relaxed when flying, taking in the scenery, recounting experiences, etc. You and 94805 make a great pair. Although I think I understand why you do it, I would like it if you didn’t cut out sequences from landing and takeoff legs, and even from straight and level flying. Unfortunately, all of my GA flying these days is done vicariously. Your adventures are my favorite!

Hello! I was originally thinking these would be 5 minute videos, but I love the fact that they've grown to 20-30 minutes. I'm sure there's people who would prefer them at 5 minutes, but glad to hear that I seem to have found a niche in showing a more relaxed, pure flight experience. Some may call it boring, but that's OK! Thank you for watching, and I will try and keep the landing/take-off's more complete. Keep the suggestions coming, it helps me when I'm editing.

I caught this ercoupe bug from you and the symptoms just went away. I traded my SLSA Paradise P1 for a 1941 ercoupe 412 with no rudders and a c85 motor. completely restored in new condition. a friend of mine had this in another hanger i didn't know about, and he wants my paradise for his flight school. he told me about the ercoupe in passing and I said lets trade titles. he said he was now painting the ercoupe, what color did i like......royal purple and gold. I am a happy man! thanks for giving me the bug. it's the best illness I ever had.

  • @leeoldershaw956

I understand preferring daylight for single engine particularly over some of that terrain. Nightime flying has advantages also; less thunderstorms, less turbulence, easier to see other aircraft. Your aircraft and engine are about the lowest tech, highest reliability there is. Portable devices like ipads, etc. have vastly improved redundancy particularly at night. If you do night flying you should be proficient on instrument flying if not actually being IFR rated. You must have the only Ercoupe with a manifold pressure gauge. I've mentioned before you can run the RPM up to redline at cruise above 7-8k ft for higher speeds with no problem. It'll be less than 75% power.

  • @Bobrob51
