It's because of where he was stabbed, it's prone to getting hurt easily. The back is funny like that.

The scene where he runs and falls is where Kerry should have been fired. She threw Malucci and Chen to the wolves while she lost her pager.

Nah - Kerry said it best. They had all the information they needed and they didn't bother to look at it. They didn't need Weaver, whether she answered her page or not wouldn't have changed the outcome because Chen ordered the thrombolytics without looking at the x-ray. The fact that that guy died was on those two - not Weaver answering her page. They tried to offset it by making Chen and Weaver into adversaries because of this - but the bottom line was that Chen had everything she needed in that room, she didn't need Weaver at all. The flip example being that if John had been in that room instead of her and Malucci had to convince Carter to order the drugs, Carter wouldn't have done it because he would have checked the x-ray himself. And if he had, he wouldn't have thought twice about opening the guy up while paging his Attending because he knew a delay would have been just as deadly. The reason that guy died was actually because of Chen's insecurities which came out of nowhere as she was a very confident doctor before.

You have forgot a scene where the student is doing acupuncture on him. And apparently it works bc after that there is no more back pain scenes.

That's not the first time Carter got zapped with the Defibrillator. But it's the funniest! Carter never got a break.
