Equinox 900 GOLD item Recovery Beach2 notch hack
Equinox 900 settings and Notch Hack to recover a lost solid gold earring. The large gold earring was lost alongside an overgrown country road. Settings used were Beach 2, Noise Cancel -2, GB 0,Threshold 9, Recovery Speed 6, FE 9, Sensitivity 25, everything notched out but 14 to 16. I determined this by taking an ID on the earring that was not lost. The ring was found in under 2 minutes. Even a beer can didn't trigger a tone.

One more note. Aussies have mentioned that the 800 leaks at cracked plastic beside the headphone socket due to cable stress. They recommend securing the headphone cable to prevent this. It's possible this is an issue with various detectors.

Great job on the recovery, is the 900 the same as the 800? Thinking about buying a 900, love my 800, but I'm scared its gonna flood this year.

The 900 is a faster processor more than likely. Id say its 4-8 times faster. The firmware could be more efficient but I doubt it since we now have about 4 times as many tones and IDs. The housing for the 900 is different but the charging port is the same. I don't know if the plastic composition has changed. That's what is wrong with the 800. Cracks in the plastic formed around the charging port of the 800. My 800 hasn't flooded but I cover every weak spot with blue painters tape. I hose off the 800 & 900 every time I use them. I've had the 800 in the ocean some without issue. Big reason to buy the 900 is the 3 oz lighter stiff shaft. Red backlight and LED flashlight like the Simplex.

The Manticore has an edge over the Nox at distinguishing a silver coin beside iron for example.

Gold, Gold plated or gold color ?

It is 14K gold, not plated. 🙂 There is a hollow body to reduce wieght but the metal is thick. The clip is also gold. Actually a very high end piece of jewelry that is vintage and worn daily. The wear shows. Thanks for the question! Best of luck.

Good question. The clay soil has so much iron and aluminum in it naturally that is difficult detect in. Similar difficulty to a wet salt beach. Very noisy. And in many cases Beach 2 is the best mode that generates the most stable ID numbers. I needed stable numbers for this notch.
