Cool ideas,except for the throwing them away. I donate my commons to a thrift store that uses the proceeds from their sales to help the less fortunate. I also donated some commons one summer to a summer camp program at a local YMCA . There's no excuse to throw the cards away. Thanks for sharing.

Good ideas to remember. I am new to the hobby, I keep just rookies and superstars or potential superstars and give the commons to a neighbor. His kids love them!

Another option I've thought of relates to donating to kids. I've taken 12 or so commons and combined them with a piece of bubble gum and placed them in a small snack size zip lock bag and I hand them out to trick or treaters. As you mentioned, receiving a handful of cards in their trick or treat bag may be the catalyst to start a hobby. If not, a parent may be very excited to see the cards as well. For nostalgia purposes, the smell of the bubble gum with the baseball cards hits you right in the "good ole memory" part of your brain. Either way, it's a great way to rid yourself of several dozen if not hundreds of common cards.

They make great gifts to non collectors like family who don’t know what common means. Everyone you know has a fav team, player, etc.. framed with thrift shop frames is another idea. A PSA 6 to a nephew could be called an investment for him in certain cases.

Love it! I totally agree!

I'm a school teacher and love to pass out cards as a reward to kids....I give them a choice for a Free HW pass or some sports cards and often times they choose the cards. If anyone would like to donate them to me, I'll gladly take them!

I do the same thing with my 7th graders.

I teach a Baseball in History elective at my high school and give them to my students as rewards for academic achievement. I also donate them to my local minor league and summer college league teams, so they can give them away during ballgames. Another way is to give them to card shows so they can donate them to kids who come to their shows. Cool video.

Another awesome video, there's not many people I like listening to on KZread, but yours are good, they make sense and it's really good advice , this video in particular I thought about myself lots of times it's nice to know someone else thought about the same thing!

Really great advice...at one point or another, I've used all these options...most recently...I took the commons and put them in team bags (mostly Sox and Cubs)...inserted a Harper RC and Trout 2nd year and donated them to a neighbor who a teacher for rewards in the classroom...something to think about

That’s a great idea!!!

I make coasters with my commons. I cut a 4 x 4, sand and stain it. I then cut the card to size and glue it. Finally I modge podge it and put a couple of layers of polyurethane on it. I also use commons for TTM autographs. If they come back signed, great. If they don’t return then it’s not a big deal.

I took my old cards my Donruss blue cards from the 1980s and do autographs through the mail. I’ve gotten about 40 autographs from 90s players and made a book.

Btw, jay have you ever done a collage of your favorite team?

I put them in team bags by team 20-30 cards. Put a well-known player on top and bottom and sell them for $2 at my garage sales.

There’s some really good communities on Facebook and you can also find some good groups on discord too where admins will regulate ppl

Donate them to a thrift store. I wrapped some of my common cards and Christmas wrapping paper and went to a football game and handed them out to all the kids I saw. Donate them to a children's hospital.

Sell them overseas for cheap, assuming someone pays S&H. Those old latin players of the junk wax era would be a hit in Puerto Rico
