When the run game becomes consistent ,then you will see a more complte team, we dont talk about that enough . All of your top teams have a run game that complements the passing game ,not to mention good special team play ,just saying dolphins have a lot of areas to improve on .The passing game is their ,and will get better , we did not have enough take aways last season ,we need to get better all around.

Agreed. TBH most of our running comes from opposing D’s overplaying and being concerned about the pass. Miami still can’t line up and run on a team when the D knows what’s coming. Even in the 70 point game vs Denver, Miami got stuffed on 3rd and 1 and 4th and 1. For the folks that wanted to run more, that’s why they didn’t lol. They don’t run well in those short yardage situations. The OL could’ve been real good last year IF everyone was healthy. That was the only game last year when the starters played together. Connor was low key the glue to the offense. I’m highly concerned we took a small step back on the OL this year

Tua is exceptional under Center and running a conventional play-action pass. He is great in the RPO in pulling the ball and delivering a lightning-quick slant pass. He is atrocious when his feet are not set. He is poor when the pocket surrounds him. He also extends his pocket way too much due to his very deep drops. He doesn’t read the blitz well. McDaniels doesn’t help Tua by running tight formations due to his ability to read the blitz. I don’t think any of his Coaches would allow Tua to audible out of plays. My honest evaluation of Tua.

Great show today. I'm glad to see a pro Tua believer for change. Makes for a more compelling show, not just because a guest has a pro Tua perspective but because guest after guest having a 'I need to see more perspective' was getting kinda stale. Even though I like seeing that take because it helps me realize how flimsy most of those arguments are that it gives me assurance that I'm on the right track in believing in Tua. But seeing that way of thinking all the time is like watching someone talking in an echo chamber, at 1st, it's kind of novel, then it gets old very quickly and is uninformitive because it's just rinse and repeat jargon. Which is why I watch your show, to not be in my own echo chamber, but to learn something I may not know even though I disagree with you most of the time over Tua related opinions, but we agree on most other things like McDaniel needing to become a more physical team in using the TE more and using RB Brooks more on 3rd and short scenarios, but it's also because you don't grow without having a dissenting voice in your life.

Another great segment. KLV thanks for setting the record straight. Not sure why it’s so difficult to admit that Tua is key in orchestrating McDaniel’s offence, it’s clear. Not a lot of QB’s can come into that system and run it the way Tua has, it’s the perfect marriage imho.

  • @alldolphinspodcast

You obviously are entitled to your opinion and maybe you're right, but the FACT is that we just don't know. And we don't know because the only QB to play a full game other than Tua under Mike McDaniel and with Tyreek Hill is Skylar Thompson, and he did so (twice) as a rookie seventh-round pick and rookie seventh-round picks are not a good gauge (Brock Purdy is a complete outlier). So you're just deciding that other QBs (who aren't rookie seventh-round picks) couldn't orchestrate the offense because that's your belief. My belief is that there are a number of veteran QBs who could produce at a similar level, if not higher. In each case, it's opinion.

  • @SajMcKenley

    @SajMcKenley

    Ай бұрын

That’s fine and like you said you’re entitled to your opinion as well. Just seems it’s always someone else or something else making this offence operate so well other than Tua and I don’t believe that’s an objective view. He’s contributing to the success of the offence too not just the failures you keep pointing out.

@@SajMcKenley All good, except that I have regularly complimented and praised Tua, except that falls on deaf ears because some of Tua's biggest fans seemingly only are paying attention to anything they perceive as criticism. I have said on many occasions that Tua is a good quarterback - and has at times been very good and even excellent - but because I'm not going with "elite," that equates to some thinking I said that Tua sucks. Just like anybody saying it might be the best move to have Tua play on the fifth-year option and reassess things next offseason is almost invariably interpreted as "we need to get rid of Tua." One last point, because I have to ask, you're British or Canadian (noticed "offence")?

It's going to be an interesting year. Bills and Dolphins are class of the division. Jets will fall apart with Roger's next injury and they will become the perennial mediocre team like Buffalo was for 20 yrs because they won't be bad enough to truly get their QB.

Matt Ryan was easily the best QB in the NFL for the 2016 season. Just like Cam Newton was the best QB in the NFL in 2015. They both lost in the Super Bowl to two of the greatest QBs of all time. But they were, for those seasons, the best QB in the league that season. It wasn’t a “it’s his time” situation. You couldn’t have been watching their games those seasons and came out of that season thinking anything other than that they were playing better than everyone else. That doesn’t mean they were overall the best QBs. Just that they were the best that year. Matt Ryan should be a HOF QB. Probably won’t be first ballot. But definitely should be a HOF.

No sir, not a lot of QBs have that. Tua is a top 10 Qb (probably 7-10), and there is no denying it. Drew Brees, Payton Manning, and Tom Brady were also not scrabbling and throwing accurate balls on the run either. That’s not Tuas game, and it wasn’t theirs. His career bests for catches and yards came with Miami, but they're volume stats, the results of Mike McDaniel having made him more the focus of the offense than Andy Reid did. Now let's see you contort yourself to explain this.

The dolphins offense struggles later in the season because it’s usually against better defenses that can actually match up with our speed and play tight man coverage. Tuas so called elite accuracy is not seen in these games because he has to be perfect due to his weak arm or defenders can get to it. Dolphin fans get hooked on how good he looks though against lesser defenses that play a trash zone defense against us.

Tua would have a super bowl if he was a Forty Niner last year. He would have been better on KC with Spags and that defense and Andy as head coach. Also, he would have been better with Eagles oline, running game, defense, and receivers -and possibly the Ravens as well. The narrative of Tua needing McDaniel or speed is ridiculous. Oh yeah, can you imagine him on Lions? Mabey would have won SB as well. That is 5 teams with other schemes and less speed. Pay the man. The only risk is injury which Bengals and Ravens have taken too.

To say Tua has same arm as Pennington shows a poor eye. That’s not accurate.

Watch the clip on KZread of Chad Pennington throwing a flea-flicker to Ted Ginn in the back of the end zone (forget the opponent) and then come back and tell us we're wrong.

Biggest elephant in the room. Stephen Ross. Somebody, please ask him what he thinks of Tua as his QB? We know the history. it is not good. If the 5 year option becomes a reality, expect Tua to holdout during training camp. He knows his backups QB's are mediocre at best. His agent David Mulugheta, who also represents Christian Wilkins, will test the loyalty of McDaniel and Grier. Mulugheta Tweet/ Post. "All these guys with contract years left getting cut….but not one peep about teams being disloyal." #PlayersDeserveEveryPenny. If a number of QB's on other teams get injured during the season, they will trade Tua. It also will say Ross never did believe in him, but it is the smartest leverage play for Tua to force the issue and avoid getting Franchised Tagged twice.

Joe Montana did not have a superb arm either. I’m really tired of hearing poup carp on Tua. I’d rather have his accuracy than the gun to throw off-schedule.

Agree with KLV that Phins are not legitimate SB contenders yet. Not even confident they will improve on last years result. Cant see where Poup´s confidence comes from, specially with our dismall record against good / play off teams.

@@alldolphinspodcastOh you foreshadowed it today. 1-12 and then proceeded to go through there losses on the road vs good teams. Imagine that, good teams being good at home. We have a coach who can coach. Maybe some consistency in the coaching staff is a good idea for once.

Poup, this arm queen thing is so boring, already. You consistently dismiss EVERYTHING Tua does well and give 95% of the credit to MCMD and the speed on offense. However, when things went down the toilet at the end of la st year, you point to Tua's Dec/Jan career record, while at the same time going on and on about how QB record is nonsense because it's a team game. Pretty much every QB who has accomplished anything in this league has done it in steps. So this notion that after 4 years Tua should have proven that he is a no doubt, franchise QB is ridiculous, especially considering he played under a HC who wanted him gone his 1st two years. Herbert got paid, and he's a career sub .500 QB. Trevor Lawrence got a new deal, and he's 10 games below .500 for his caeer, and last year had a massive late season collapse. What do those two have in common? People like you who fall in love with the physical traits, while ignoring everything else. Bottom line; if Tua was 6'5 230lbs with a howitzer for an arm, and everything else was the same (i.e. stats W/L record, etc.), not only would Tua have been paid, he would have gotten MORE than Herbert or Lawrence.

Tua had a weak arm. He only beats crappy teams. He throws only to a spot even while another player is wide opened. Tua can't do audibles, go passed his first reads, falls apart when the timing is off and when he can't throw down the middle. Tua loses down the stretch. He averages 1 td to 2 ints vs the good teams and barely 200 yards per game.. plus he can't play in the cold. He lacks instinct.. he only stares down his first read..

👏 Another good guest💯 🐬⬆ I don't think "Matty Ice" is a HOF player NFL MVP, NFL O.P. of the Year, 1st team All-Pro, NFL passer rating leader, (2016)👏 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year (2008)👍 4× Pro Bowl (2010, 2012, 2014, 2016) NFL completion percentage leader (2012)💪 These are all nice numbers💯 BUT, one "great year" and few other "very good years" does not make an HOF player in my opinion.
