The knowledge. The passion. I initially didn't rate this guy but my goodness I slept 🙆🏽‍♀️ Also we aren't used to people who are this self assured. We are brought up to be humble to such a point that it diminishes our light. Check how Nota continuously mentions the inputs he's had in music/artists. That's knowing your worth and your contributions. So often we say it's arrogance. PS: Nota gave me vibes I was anticipating from the Sizwe interview. Respect 🙌🏽

I feel like what Nota is trying to say is that South African hip hop sound is different and we need to appreciate it more than try to diminish it by comparing it with the American hip hop sound or another hip hop sound from around the world. Afrobeat is so big today because of the Nigerian feel and accent to it and till the end of time they will own that genre ,so South African artists shouldn’t try to change themselves just so they could make it to the top charts, stay real and authentic to yourself as much as possible and you’ll make it. Makhadzi was able to perform in Europe and she received love because of the unique sound she brought.

This is the reason why I love KZread, the opportunity for us to tell our own stories in our own words. Big up to Nota and what he has done for the music industry. It is so refreshing to listen to someone who is wholeheartedly about the welfare of his people. Love him, hate him he makes a lot of sense and provokes a lot of things we need to address as a people. If his saying something his not enforcing his opinion on anyone you have a choice to listen agree or disagree and if you disagree say why but don't insult him. Much love bro

Nota's confidence is admirable... He's also transparent, because every preference or choice is driven by the want for authenticity to be at the forefront.I might not be his biggest fan due to the way he comes across, but I am a massive fan for the ideals he campaigns for. He will definitely leave a footprint and legacy in whatever space he finds himself in.

The truth is most of us from the 90’s often agree with Nota in terms of authenticity, originality. Some of us have even left American & European music because of a search of belonging and identity. Without denying the new kids of hip hop having talent. But the internet has really brainwashed. More voices like Nota are essential to drive hip hop in the right direction. If you don’t think so then drive around South Africa and tell me what music is being played. Barely do you hear hip hop anymore

I see Nota's vision with podcasting. Problem here in South Africa. Is accessibility. Network service providers are overpricing data & are slow & dololo network coverage in certain areas. DATA is an expense for the average South African. Someone or some entity should start installing fiber everywhere where possible with a fair rate. Podcasting would boom in SA. People have dope content like this show

I really appreciate Nhlamulo Baloyi’s honesty, but his obsession with NastyC tends to wash away from his constructive criticism. At the end of the day, not every rapper will sound like Kwesta or Zakwe, we are all inspired by different acts & his taste for authenticity should not be bullied into a yardstick for trashing artists (e.g. calling Shane Eagle a wannabe Cole - very distasteful). But, I loved the interview, regardless - S|O Podcast & chill.

Wannabe’s get no respect. Just because you were brainwashed to hate your own culture doesn’t mean I was. The white man made you hate yourself and that’s why you can’t hear my point. Don’t be a Ramaphosa. Listen to the podcast over and over till you pick up all the gems! - The Authority

Baloyi, you have delusions of grandeur. You contradicts yourself. You criticises Nasty C and praises Elaine, whereas both of them are inspired by African Americans and are trying to get recognition in the biggest market for R&B and Hip-hop Culture. You think that you are a paragon of virtue and perfection.
