Hi...reg falsetto... I'm not sure about Hindustani, but in Carnatic, there is something called Shrutibhedam. Sometimes, the performer shifts the shruti...eg makes Ri/ni as Sa, so the overall pitch changes, resulting in a different melodic experience. I'm not a musician, so don't know how common it is used. 😃
