I don't understand why you need the slurry. I'm pretty sure the polymer additive w tile mortar will work? Maybe not

Do you have any suggestions for scaffolding for deep end without a ledge?

That’s a tricky one. You might try calling a local scaffolding supplier and see if they have any recommendations. Otherwise you may have to build your own and use some diagonal bracing to support the edges.

What products did you use for the slurry and the mud base?

Hi Andi! The bonding slurry is cement mixed with water and Weld Bond glue. The glue makes up about 10% of the liquid and the rest is water. It should have the consistency of molasses. We used a paint brush to apply it. The mud base is 3 parts sand to 1 part portland cement. Additionally you need to add 1/3 part hydrated lime as well as a small amount of Weld Bond adhesive. You trowel it on, let it set until it stiffens up, and smooth it with a damp sponge.

Yessir! We used the Laticrete SpectraLOCK Pro. It was kind of a pain to work with, but very durable and worth the effort!
