Episode 142: Our First Moto Camping Trip
In this episode we hop on our new-to-us motorcycles and head out to Lake Oachita for a couple of days of moto camping. We don't have all of our gear yet that we'll use for our normal setup, so we scrounged what we could from our current stock of camping gear and made do with what we had on hand. Join us for a beautiful ride and beautiful scenery.

Ahh, the joys of tent camping! Last time I went tent camping it was followed up with 6 chiropractor visits due to the rock mattress under the tent. Now if I went, I’d be spending at least 20 minutes getting out of the tent, 10 just to get out of the sleeping bag, 5 finding the tint zipper, and another 5 or so getting out of the tent. Tent camping is fun, but…. Happy trails!

We slept on the ground on this trip and it was pretty uncomfortable. Now we have some pretty decent air mattresses but it's still a bit of a challenge getting up off the ground for sure.
How exciting. Enjoy and be safe. 😎🕷

Thanks! It was a lot of fun and looking forward to more.
Started camping in 1972. Yes, we have got a little crazy with all the extras.
Looks like a great shake down. Agreed camping instead of glamping to good to go back to sometimes. Beautiful shots off the lake. The fog was gorgeous. Opens up some new adventures for you two.

It was great and helped us figure out what else we needed lol.
Oachita is very nice, I was up there in the late 70's and spent 4 days scuba diving in that cold darn lake

The air filled sleeping pads help a lot, they're pretty comfortable. Getting up off the ground is definitely a challenge though. We figure we had better do it while we still can.

It might be the riding gear why you look tense .. sorry

I was pretty tense there. I was just learning to ride on the highway and wasn't super comfortable yet. The armored jacket doesn't help but your assessment was 100% accurate.
That is a pretty lake. A number of years ago I tried camping sleeping on the ground again and it reminded me why I had bought a cot years ago. Used to set a small tent up on the roof of my Suburban and a cot mattress to sleep on, worked well but I do not walk in my sleep. Are you enjoying riding motorcycle Kat? It used to be my favorite mode of transportation. Hope you are having fun, stay safe and healthy.

I am really enjoying riding. It's a great way to see the country and its nice to be able to just pull in and stop anywhere we want.

@@TipsyMarlinTravels If you ride in the north area remember it is really really cold in the winter and the area from the solid white line to the shoulder always has sand year round avoid it. Be safe.

It is a lot of fun, and yeah, the rear end does start letting us know when we have traveled too far lol. We definitely keep our heads on a swivel and try to avoid major highways.

It amazes us how much gear they carry! We did get the idea for our new tent from them. We really enjoyed that lake...very peaceful.
Cleaner than Lake Tahoe California/Nevada ???

Yes, cleaner than Tahoe (according to them anyways). I know Tahoe is known for its pristine waters too.
