Episode 11: Boston, London and a Day in the Life
This episode has a little something for everyone. Des and Kara start by swapping medical war stories including the backstory behind Des's recent hand injury. Spoiler alert: She nearly lost her thumb in a boating accident but is going to be ok!
Then, they jump into recaps of Boston and London where you get their takes on Emma Bates, Hellen Obiri, Sifan Hassan, Conner Mantz, Scott Fauble, Eliud Kipchoge, and so much more. Plus, you hear how Des felt about her race in Boston.
At the end, Des and Kara give you a little insight into the life of an elite athlete starting with how both handled downtime after a marathon and then how they transitioned back into full training. It's clear that the rapport between these two is building so you don't want to miss this one!

This was wonderful as usual. Am I the only one who feels like “I’m hanging out with these two legends.” Watched on bike at gym and burst out laughing a bunch of times-got side eye from guy on bike next to me😂. No regrets. Heal well, Des! The animals agree we need our thumbs. 😆
Glad your hand is healing, Des. Also, the two of you chatting is THE BEST.
When you talked about the men's field knowing that
You girls are interesting and a riot. So fun to watch your easy friendship grow. Keep up the fun!
Great stuff Kara and Des!
The sophomoric humor was hilarious.
It was such a treat to meet you both in Boston!
My wife and I really enjoyed your podcast! We haven't run a marathon since 2015 but they are indeed addictive, which is truely strange, and listening to you both talking of your experiences was so fun. Thanks so much and hope your hand recovers quickly Des! :)
You did to mark the declawing of your paw with that White Claw
Embrace the poke!!!😂
I didn't know you were in KZread too :)
