Articulate, illuminative, discussion which clarified the role of us "normal" people in the Body of Christ. Washing clothing, sweeping floors, wiping noses, cooking, picking up kids, changing the oil in the car, taking out the garbage, are all tasks that seem pretty removed from a "holy" occupation. Thank you for helping to clarify how it fits in with our baptism and the roles of priest, prophet and king. It gets pretty easy to get so bogged down in chores that we forget we have any significance in the Church beyond having babies, tithing, showing up for Confession, Mass, and Communion. For most of us our bodies and homes don't feel so much like temples of God as they do laundromats, fuel stops, and tired and buffered containers with a soul inside that needs a shower and good night's sleep. Thank you for reminding, (educating, uplifting) this individual Catholic today of the possibility and importance of including an orientation towards God in each mundane task. God's blessings and my prayers for each of you and your ministry. Hope your doctorate is progressing as desired Father Pine.
Glorious for God’s glory!!!!
Our time requires good faithful lay people, and powerful evangelists, to bring glory to God by converting the world.
This is a good introduction to our "proper and indispensable role in the Church." Thank you for including our call to holiness. Be sure to read Apostolicam Actuositatem as well.
Really interesting episode, thanks fathers.
So interesting re the role of the laity. Thank you so much.
I saw Fr Gregory on a TV commercial for Thomists 101. He had a white background.
This makes me feel better 😁 I do feel rather disappointed that I didn't become a religious sister, but I guess I am not 'just' a lay person. But I do still wish I had been..😏
Offering it up as the Church Militant has meaning. There are souls in purgatory who appreciate our prayers. Also taking Christ to the public Square is required., Reading scholarly publications such as First Things and listening to the Thomistic Institute presentations etc causes the laity to focus on the eternal.
Living out a lay vocation can be focused through the lens of the charism of St. Dominic. Becoming a member in the Lay Fraternities of St. Dominic allows one to socialize and work with people who are dedicated to God but who are aligned with St. Mary and her protected order. It provides a great framework for individual spiritual growth and how to interact with the world.
Either of you give a blessing at the end? Just a thought as that's something a priest can do that laity cannot.

If you watch a video of a priest give you a blessing do you actually receive that blessing?

I recently read about the philosophy of Universalism through the works of David Bentley Hart. Is there anyway you can address this in Godsplaining?
