Hahahaha I love you guys so much😂 Also Thunderbird + Nick is a match in heaven
@TheBassChannel

Love you, too, dude! Agreed, but it might take a whole lot of convincing for Nick to put down his P Bass.
i had played bass for like 10 years of my life, and i had stopped after i moved to LA for a few years. I sold all of my $1000 five strings, and my big gigging amp to fund the move. When i got settled in LA, I felt the itch again. I needed something inexpensive, so i went for the Epiphone Thunderbird IV. This bass singlehandedly got me back into playing! I have been playing very seriously since, maybe for the next 20 years. I have had many other basses and other rigs since, but it was very important to me. Always looked different at a show, and always loooooved overdrive, and sounded like some awesome growly rock and roll show every time i pulled it out of it's case.
Got one a while ago, I smile even just seeing it in my room its that good.

Thank you for this! Its great the the diversity of the Thunderbird has finally been shown. And it looks kinda killer worn higher.
I love this Bass, it has the most beautiful sound ever.
I owned A 76 bicentennial bird at one time. Thanks for playing just great bass.
Got a white one when they first came out from Sweetwater scratch & dent. Well, more than that, a LOT more than that. It had fallen, and the headstock snapped off. So I got it for $125, repaired it myself with $7 worth of glue and some hand tools, and played it at several gigs. Loved the vintage look, the killer tones, and the price! But, didn't like the ginormousness of its size. The headstock alone is the size of some small guitars. Ended up selling it for a profit and moving on. Not my cup of tea, but I still love hearing and watching those that dig 'em.
Killer demo! 👍
Dam i love the sound of the thunderbird, im so buying one come march
Tone-wise, it's like a beefier Jazz Bass. I think I want one as my next thunder staff.
ein super Demo Video danke für diese Infos.
Awesome demo. I’ve got one and love it. It’s a lot of fun to play. But I agree with the previous reviewer. The headstock is so ginormous that I’m constantly banging it on stuff. But that’s all part of its charm. I’m actually considering using it for an upcoming theater gig. It’s a weird thought, but it’s actually a bit fuller and rounder sounding than my jazz and p basses. Not at all what I expected. It could fit into a surprising amount of musical contexts with the right strings and setup.

nice video... great tones
Pleasently surprised at how nice it sounds fingerstyle in an r&b track. These things excel at overdriven pick playing or beating the shit out of the strings ala the Ox.
Great tone
Hilarious review! The F word reference killed me xD
I. Need. This. Bass. Now!
You guys gotta make a video comparing this bass to the new Epiphone Embassy bass. It has the same pickups but I feel like the Embassy sounds a tad different.
Should have the bass’s knob settings on above the amp shot on the bottom right.
That's some heavy bass playing. Some thick tones there. Wide sound and phat styles.

Played 63 & 64 Gibson TB's for over a decade...sold in 1989 to finance to move to Texas. Waited forever for Gibson to remake them but EPIPHONE DID !!! BTW, the new Epi Embassy with these same pickups is BETTER than the 60's versions.
Thank you!
I want one so bad. I bought a p bass a few months ago and am in love....thirty years of playing and no p bass should be illegal. I want this Thunderbird bad.
Yo these basslines are filthyyyyy yo
What's that song at 1:23? I'm obsessed with that bass line 😍
just bought one today, came in the ups truck delivery boxed up . In a case so no worries . Now I know why they didn't take close ups as close as i would of liked. 10 chips, all but one hidden, 1 new knob and 1 new tuner/ all the chrome, but the new tuner is fadded . how can the shine just disapear/ well the screw's down by the bridge do have rust on them, so there's my clue but sounds absolutely awesome , and neck set real nice so I'll not send it back I guess, with epiphone case and tax and shipping total $585 , nice demo and info on the bass like mine thks

Отличный бас!
In general, would yall prefer this or a MIM Fender P Bass?
Does it have weak spot in the neck head that cracks easy like the Gibson did?

The only issue i have with it is the look with the chrome pickups and such, just a personal taste thing :-)
Is this the same as the now called thunderbird 60s bass(on the epiphone site)? Thanks in advance.

The thing about the Gibson is 1) it's really overpriced and 2) it's not really vintage correct 1963 T-bird. The Gibby has black hardware, ultralight tuners, black pickup covers, and their god-forsaken 3 piece bridge. The pickups are not vintage alnico on the Gibson either. A T-bird is suck a quirky instrument, that it doesn't make much sense to drop $2200 when you could have the awesome Epiphone for a third of the price. IMO, they aren't workhorse basses, they are "fun" basses. And that makes the Epi super attractive to me.

the Epi vintage pro is actually closer to a 60s one than the modern gibson one is
Is this an Indian Laurel fingerboard?
Epiphone website says they are neck through
Tuners should have been more period-correct and the basses overall weigh a ton but other than that they look and sound great.

What’s the difference between the vintage pro and the classic pro
@antoniobiancaniello7047
3 жыл бұрын
The vintage pro has IMO superior pickups, a mahogany and maple neck-thru construction, and a 60s style bridge system instead of the atrocious three-point bridge. To put it simply: vintage pro > classic pro and active pro
Sounds way better than a new gibson

5 strings and then I'd add another similar smooth sounding pickup in the neck position. Maybe pull a Billy Sheehan play - actually it's nice to have that slot open and get to pick. But yeah, I've been interested in a TB for a while now, a 5 fretless would be stupid rad. Frets have always seemed/felt weird to me, personal thing...
