The 2nd voice is subtle at first. There's definitely a difference. The difference becomes more apparent if you play metal and start chugging away. As this is a "modern" take on a Les Paul, I think it's more suited to metal players which makes sense. I think of the standard voicing as being somewhat "compressed" with the mids becoming more pronounced and a tight bottom end. When you palm mute, you'll hear more percussive-ness. With the 2nd voicing, you get a fatter, more flubby bottom end and less mids(?). Basically, doesn't work as well for palm muting because the extra bottom end doesn't sound as tight and you lose the upper mid attack. It's good for general rock/blues. Source: I've had one for over a year 😄

Yes, kind of like a light buttery mid tone. Would show up a lot better with echo, but that may color the sound in other ways.

Finally a truly unbiased review! Thank you for clearing up what I suspected, not much difference in the pickup/ coil splitting options, just some difference in brightness from what I can tell here. I can see myself getting distracted during a gig playing with the push pull knobs lol. Other reviews always spend too much time using overdriven sounds, too much distortion etc and you can't tell the real sound of the guitar. Modern amps and effects mask so much of the guitar's organic tone. I applaud you for doing such an extensive review and for having the intelligence to give us the unadulterated sound of this guitar. You are also correct about the finish, they should use a full gloss. To me that was an easy way of cost cutting the production. Sweat will penetrate over time and dings/ scratches galore. I was very close to buying but after your review, you saved me some time and money.👍

I hear big changes - and if you play something else than the lower chords (soloing and such) I bet you'll also hear the difference between moderns and the 2nd choice (wich should be more of an original LP sound) - Tnx for the review Mike! Subbed!

I received my Prophecy yesterday and I'm sold. I also own the Epiphone '59 Les Paul, and they are two entirely different instruments, I've loved my 59 for over a year now, but the Prophecy is inching it's way to my #1

@@FrAnKaNtHoNy1997 I guess it depends on your playing style, metal, blues rock etc.... They're both killer guitars. I like the Gibson Burstbuckers in my '59 a little better. But I like the looks of my Prophecy a little better. The Prophecy is mostly my metal guitar. But since then, I've managed to get the new Epiphone Adam Jones Custom. It's all I've been playing for a week now.

Hmm the ringing in my ears is bad today but i hear a tiny difference that a touch of the volume would do. Those are on sale right now. I have had 2 gibsons both had bad action so did my prs and 1 other the prs and newer gibson had good frets so i had to round off one gibson. Ive had to do a lot of fret polishing in my life. Idk.

@@AVB19944 Learn how to setup a guitar. Not buying a guitar because it’s default setup isn’t to your liking is kind of dumb

@@ragnakak This. The idea that a factory guitar would come specifically setup how you'd like is totally bizarre. There are absolutely baseline measurements to follow that most guitarists can play with, but knowing how to set up your own guitar is essential if you plan to be a guitarist. Especially if you want your axe to be personal, only fitted to you and your comfort. It can be daunting at first, but personalizing your own guitar setup is what makes music so fun.

@@AVB19944 i happen to agree with you there, but you see this sometimes even on more expensive guitars like Gibson. this is why i prefer to buy in person, because when you buy online you have to hope that the guitar arrives in tack. with so many retailers you can buy from these days, you have to wonder how the guitar was when it arrived to them, or if they did anything with it themselves. I've seen guitars stay in stores for months with very little attention to it, then by the time they ship it out, did they check everything before they ship it out. some retailers don't, with so many guitars that come to them it's hard to keep track of them all. that's why it's important to hire enough people to do a job one person can't do on there own, but people are not perfect, even luthiers can make mistakes, that's why it takes a team. Guitar Center and places like Reverb have gotten mixed opinions from normal people over the years. as far as Epiphone, ya i hear you, a guitar from Epiphone costing 900 is no excuse for poor QC, ( Quality Control ). that's not a budget guitar anymore once you get up to that price point, below 399 is a fair comparison, because you can't expect the greatest quality under 250 these days. still whether your paying 300 or 900, that's still alot of money being thrown around.
