@@Yettibuhayat i think absolutely, i also own 2 gibsons and two ltd’s and this is my most played guitar by far. I really like the neck, the locking tuners and the ebony fingerboard. I did change my pickups though, because the stock pickups sound too muddy for my taste. At first i really liked the look of the burst but i‘m a little bored by it now, but maybe that is because i was playing it for the last four years.

Just picked one up 2 days ago in the orange magma and absolutely loving it. I have smaller hands and the neck feels perfect to me and I'm really digging the out of phase sounds, that kinda honky/nasaly thing in that position. And the tuners are a godsend! I got a great deal on a store demo model that doesn't have a mark on it and after having my regular setup guy go over it I can't believe how good it plays and sounds.

Hi Oli, again like your demo of this Epiphone Les Paul Modern and showing all the features clearly in your demo which is very good as your playing is clever. I like the coil splitting which could come in handy but I have 2 Strats which I use for different songs. I really love my new Epiphone Les Paul Modern in Vintage Sparkling Burgundy and has a really good feel. I will check your channel out as well. Thanks for your great work here.

@@OliRoyer My pleasure. One of the best videos I've seen on KZread about this guitar! Subscribed to your channel after watching this. I really like too how you spent some time showing how this guitar sounds clean with coil-split and out-of-phase settings. A couple of things did occur to me though. If I'm not mistaken, you show the coil-split for both neck and bridge pickups using the bridge volume control. Presumably the neck volume control can be used to coil-split the neck pickup? Also, the neck tone control is used for the out-of-phase sound when on the middle pickup selector. What does the bridge tone control do? Is that a push-pull or not? I seem to think it's not push-pull but perhaps you can correct me if I'm wrong!

I've just bought one, here's my view. Far better finish than other epiphones I've bought, fret ends are very very well finished and frets all level with no dead frets or choking. Frets are not polished very well though and very rough. Tuners are fantastic, nut is a little sloppy and messy with glue/filler. Neck has zero relief in it and touches every fret, slight relief added and plays correctly, nut height seems off on the E and B strings, too low to 1st fret. Pick ups are tremendous, neck is better than the bridge, coil splitting done very well with no drop in volume and out of phase sounds incredible. Easily the best sounding and flattest neck epi I've played. Biggest downside is the body is 4 piece and the 3rd piece in has a large noticeable crack in the wood under the finish, either a crack or the worlds worst jointer. This hasn't happened after production but before and then painted/glossed over to hide but still stands out like a sore thumb. To summerise, best sounding epi, much better fret ends and leveling than usual, still poorly set up in comparison to other guitar manufacturers in this price range. Hardware on the guitar however is amazing. I'm torn between returning it and waiting another 4 months for it to be replaced or keeping it as it is but I'd expect money off as its clearly B stock.

Hi Oli liked your demo very much, is your demo model factory set or did you need to adjust the Bridge for intonation of the neck? I have purchased this guitar but plain colour in Sparling Burgundy Red, I am already aware from the demo of your that the knobs need to be fastened by a guitar tech which is what I will be having done. How was the pitch of the Truss Rod? I liked the Clean demo but also a bit of the grit or dirty..Overall a very good demo.

Nice review and demo. The reference to the asymmetrical neck profile is the opposite way around. From what I have read, it's slightly fatter on the bass side, slimmer on the treble side. Apparently it's more ergonomic (although it seems to oppose the thumb over the top logic).

I got a good deal on a new non-figured version of this in the Sparkling Burgundy finish ($539.99) when they first came out. These are very decent LP guitars with a lot of high-end and modern features for the money. Unfortunately, they did not have any figured versions at the local GC when I went looking to try them out. They all look great, figured or non-figured. I probably would have preferred the one that looked most like figured cherry sunburst, but have never seen one in person so far. Nonetheless, that Caribbean Blue is quite sweet also.

I have owned seven Gibson Les Pauls in Standard, Custom, and Deluxe Pro models, since the late 1970s. These Epiphone LP Moderns compare favorably, for a lot less dough, with some more modern features, no doubt. Of course, the Gibson will usually go up in value, simply because of the brand. However, I don't think you can go wrong with these Epiphone LP Moderns. I would also recommend the Agile AL-3200MCC model, I have one of those in light blue quilt. Those have even more modern features than these, like compound 12-16" radius, neck though body, better fret access, a belly cut, and made in South Korea with a high build quality. They don't have the locking tuners, but that is an easy fix, since they come with Grovers. They are non-chambered, so typically weight around 10 lbs. But, under $600, you can't go wrong ordering one from Rondo Music. I got one with a very nice Douglas HSC (with throw blanket like the old Gibson TKLs), all shipped to my door for $702. You get a break doing combined orders on shipping if you order the case, which makes sense for good protection in shipping, storing it, or taking it to gigs.

Hey, Oli. I have a question. Did you find the crowning of the frets (and fret edges) a bit 'grabby?' When my fingers are hard, I don't notice anything amiss. But after a few hours of playing and softening up the skin, my fingers begin to hang up on the frets while sliding up/down the neck playing individual notes. Did you notice anything peculiar concerning the frets? It's like the leading and trailing edges of the frets have a tapered but somewhat sharp hone to them. However, this is a forever type of guitar so, I am thinking of finding someone who can do as close to a PLEK setup and re-crown/leveling as possible (I live in Bangkok and can't seem to find anyone with an actual PLEK machine, so in other words a HQ setup). Any thoughts/ suggestions - mainly, is it worth it? I've had the guitar since April and the fret edges/ends are the only real complaint I can come up with - other than the crappy 3-way toggle - that is. This is an SOS, mate. I'd appreciate any insights you might provide. Thanks in advance.

Can anyone give me a few ideas on the sounds more, what genre of music does it play the best? Rock, blues, classic Rock, or heavy rock? Is it hard to get a heavier sound out of it, say Chevelle for instance, them right back over to Jimmy Page Blackdog as an example? I've read a few complaints about fret buzz and a high action, my Stratocaster has some fret buzz but fine when plugged in. Any comments are appreciated. I simply said, send me that instead. They agreed, and shipped it overnight for free. I plan on selling a couple old guitars I have and buying the modern sometime soon. Then I found these moderns, offering both features I wanted in one guitar, plus locking tuners. So I'm returning the standard in favor of this modern, but I haven't yet decided if I'll return the custom too. I just bought one and noticed something I wanted to see if others are also experiencing. With the pickup switch in the middle selection, volumes on 10 and the Tone pot pulled up (phase switch engaged), the volume is loudest when the bridge pickup is on 8, not 10. Said again, if you play a chord when both volumes are on 10 in this configuration, then roll the bridge volume down to 8 it will get significantly/noticeably louder. So in other words in that config, 10 volume on bridge pickup is about equal to 5-6 the 8 is the loudest, then 9/10 goes back to the 5-6 volume level. I’ve had 6 different guitar techs look at it - one says he doesn’t notice it, one says it extremely pronounced, a couple say they hear it and none of them know if it’s normal, expected behavior or if there is something wrong with it. IMO, there is something wrong because I want 10 to be the loudest volume. One tech said it is normal to get.”a little” louder at 8 as the neck pickup becomes a larger part of the mix on the middle setting, but he’s never heard one as pronounced as this one. And again, the tone pot is pulled up for this. I have a Gibson Flying V that does not do this btw but it doesn’t have the tone phase switch so not really a good true comparison.

I'm dying for one of those. I was going to buy one of the moderns but I saw the Andertons video at NAMM where they showed the Prophecy models and they are mental!!! But as the other guy said, It seems that we have to wait at least 4 to 5 months , early 2021 release probably.

Is this model mainly for shredding and metal or is it equally good for blues and classic rock which is more my speed. I dig the color.

Bargain guitar for sure. Good enough to gig with, but not as good quality as the American made version made in Nashville. Having this guitar and liking it, is a precursor to upgrading to a Gibson. The Gibson will hold a better resale value. The Epiphone just needs a little more tweaking and set up.

Ephiphone´s are much better option to anyone wating a gibson look than gibson itself...The prices of gibsons are insane and completely bs. Guitars at 600-800 guitars are incredible nowdays. When all boomer are dead, gibson will die too... lol
