goddamn what an idea, 100 hours in and this finally helped me get into another of the game

I know I'm late but this is the best taming raft ever. Used it on a lvl 120 rex. It got kited in the raft easily without any problem. I knocked it out. Drove it away out into the ocean where I could peacfully tame it. Thumbs up. I know this video was made before the patch but sinking the foundation that far no longer works and for rexes and other bigger dinos you'll need a behomth gate but I don't know if you can put that on a raft.

Thanks Secowe :) Im glad it worked out for you. i tamed a rex in it once too , just had to remove the gate in the back to get it out. i think you can put a bohemoth gate on one , they are only 5 foundations wide

Wish I would’ve seen this video first! Spent so much time and resources lowering foundations using thatch foundations, thatch ceilings, and wooden pillars. This is soooo much easier and less complicated. 😩

Great presentation...I just started playing less than a week ago and need to get some animals trained...I finally have the farming down a bit. I have two rafts sitting far away from my main structure. I was killed twice by bad things with no way back. I want to recover the rafts for practice...Thanks for the info, I am going to try to build one so if I get kill I can get back to my raft.

I do have questions about migrating to a sever hosted on one of my local computers...I have been playing in single player mode and would like to move my assets over to a server I will host. Is there any way to do this? Is it better to host the server on a second machine using another steam account so it can run all the time? If so, will a system with an i3-7100 on an Z270 MB with dual Intel GB network for teaming good enough hardware to run it on? Thanks for any help...

You can easily move your saved game to the new server. you just copy/paste the "SavedArk dir" yours in sp will have a number after it. If you are using any mods you have to have them on the new server as well or it will break your saved game. I would not host a server on the same machine you use to play on. A second machine would be much better, or a rented server. they are only 14$ a month for ten players. As for your specs on running your own box, i think you might need better than an i3. I would check the forums on the min specs. I know the server we rent is way better than that.

Thanks, I have a Ryzen 5 1600X 6 core machine that I will use if the i3 machine does not have the grunt. Is it hard to move the server from one machine to another?

you just need to copy a folder over and your done. unless you have mods to install. Your saved game and dinosand builds are all stored in the "savedArk" folder, copy it from your single player and paste it into your new server in the right location. Shootergame/saved/SavedArk

How did you manage to get the ramp stick? I could get one ramp, but additional ramps wont stick.

Hi man! Loved this video, I do have a question though, the raft is completely done and I love it! But I have trouble with the ramp. Its not really level in angle with the roof, it goes pretty much straight down to water. What am I doing wrong or has this changed in anyway?

Same with me, my starting foundations were very slightly lower than in vid so thinking maybe that's why with me. Annoying little kink in the ramp but I'm not restarting it again in this run-through. Works great though, love it!

I could not get the rear to go back farther than one.. but I could build 4 out in the front

I'd love a materials list, curious as to how much stone, wood, etc.

you just increase the "PerPlatformMaxStructuresMultiplier=" to more than 1 in your server gameusersettings.ini a 2 will give you 2x more than vanilla and so on. its a multiplyer. We did not raise the limit on the server i am playing on. it is vanilla. 88 pieces max

What is that giant blue bird? Is that vanilla or from a mod?

Does this still work? I made one of these several months ago and it worked great but I tried again today and I can't get the floor to extend out far enough. Did something change about the building system that I don't know about or is it just me?

What ever button you use to do "orbital camera" is what you want. check your controller settings. :) also if your crouched the piece will stay on same level ass you "wont pop on to the roof/if your indoors" little trick

Hi, great video! I'm at the point where I put the thatch ceiling/roof down, but the foundation won't snap to it... the snap point is there the foundation is red and says that something is blocking it. Is there something I missed (watch the video several times) or has something changed? I do have S+ but am using the vanilla thatch and S+ stone foundation.

i do know a recent patch took away the ability to snap under the celings unless you go into the server settings and enable it let me see if i can find the variable. . . . . . "OverrideStructurePlatformPrevention=True" if you dont have access to the server files i would try this pillar trick " www.reddit.com/r/playark/comments/47qoxr/did_they_disable_the_ceilingfoundation_trick_for/d0f1sq7/ " Hope it works for ya. good luck

Primative is the same as vanilla, but the latest patch broke this mechanic. so we can do it any more. thanks wilcard :(

you have to use wood foundations under neith, then switch them out with stone if your using vanilla hope that helps :)

you can expand the raft still with ceilings but i don't think it looks good and you prolly cant expand it to the length i have anymore. strength does'nt really come into play ever, if a leed attacks you its over no mater what materials you use.

Roger Patterson hi. they put the mod back that lets you do this. i think there was was too many complaints. so give it a go its fun but dont go in deep water or watch out for those leeds (huge whale like dinos) they just hate boats even metal ive lost two :(

Sooo can you not do this on mobile ? I built this same raft on the PS4 and I had the blue light of death happen so I had to completely reset my PS and lost all my games and everything. Ark happened to be one of them … with that being said I’m not rebuying ark so I downloaded it on my phone … I’ve done everything the same and now that it comes time to do the thatch roof my stone foundation won’t snap under it so confused I’ve destroyed everything and rebuilt it 3 times and it still won’t snap … HELP ME 😂

Works like a charm, but now you cant sail to open water, because there is a big whale like fish, which attracted by the raft and 2hit destroy the whole thing on the island map. Lost 3 hours of grinding for materials by 15 sec. This fish attacks the boat only, but unfortunately, i got rekt by an alpha megalodon...

My foundations aren't snapping under the thatch roof..what do i do?

what foundations are you using? i think only wood works then switch it out with stone later. are you modded? you cant do vanilla thatch with modded foundation , both have to be same. the snapping still works i did it in vanilla recently , goodluck

Not bad a boat at the date of the video release. Too bad they added the moby dick whales the next day, still looking for boats sturdy enough against them, but looks like their attack does not even take advantage of the invisible mast bug like i initially thought, instead they attack through any and all structures right through the raft... :(

Yeah , i love boats the new update really made me upset, imagine how pissed people on the center are. I read that a dev commented that the leeds are not supposed to bypass foundations, so hopefully they fix that little tidbit. Till then its going to be shore sailing for me lol

Well til 256.3 even shore sailing was a big no-no, as they were spawning even inside river ends by packs of 3 or 4. No wonder by in-construction do-it-all boat got destroyed... Gonna have to prep the pieces in advance and wait for the bug to get fixed. At least now they stay away from shore a little bit... :p

ive seen people take them out easily with rocket turrets mounted on their boat. you just circle around them.

Sure works if you're online when you get attacked by those fishes. Mine was sunk while i was offline... :-° It was my first attempt at a modded do-it-all massive boat, at that moment it had a 10x4 stone sunken foundation (metal on 2 spots where the radder of the raft was), and had at least 2 walls high everywhere (more on the rear where the taming tap was). :'(

something cool would be a variant of the build where the taming cage is actually 2 walls higher than the raft level with a floor of its own, to help with the problem of rock formations glitching through them and pushing off your sleeping tame. If possible on vanilla one can even probably make the cage floor out of hatchframes to allow the owner to shoot the tame from bellow. Although to prevent dilos from falling through, in-between ceilings would be needed to fill a quarter of the hatchframes...

stone gateway now says not allowed on this foundation

With the newest patch of weight restrictions on rafts...is this still valid?

you can get a rex stuck in it, you will have to remove the gate on back for it to get out after taming. also i would change one side from sloped ceilings to just reg wall, bigger area to drop into.

Or you can take advantage of the raft physics and brush against a high enough surface and it will knock your new Rex out of your raft without having to demolish or SPlus pickup.
