Brilliant raft, this is what got me into raft building. I have soo many rafts that I built, improving them all the time. My current explorer, taming raft, on my modded single player, offline game. Looks like a huge, water version of an Articulated lorry, meant for going into dangerous areas, and safely extracting the most dangerous dinos... Looking like a water version of an articulated lorry, its also a dino transporter. Although... Wildcards broken raft physics, means that a lot of the time, my dinos, and sometimes myself. Will slide off into the water. I remember using one of my crafting stations, and when I was finished, finding myself outside the raft.

Tried it on PS4 yesterday, still works! (I'm on a beginner server) Tried to get a mammoth but he couldnt get in from the right side, couldnt try the left tho. Hatchframe works only if you put the dino gate BEFORE the frame and ceiling. Great design!

This is so great! I didn’t make mine exactly like yours (because I don’t have any advanced materials yet), but, using your basic ideas, I managed to finally kill one of the alpha raptors that’s been terrorizing my base ever since I started the game! I think I mostly got him because he glitched, but I got him! Today I replaced the wood ramps with stone and am going to go after the other one tomorrow! Thanks for the great videos!

I love this!!! My ceiling and my side Dino gate clash. I had to make slight changes. Now off to find crystals. Thanks solves a huge problem. Since I never sent this yet.... I went after a boss raptor. I am lvl 38, put over 50 narco arrows, 50 reg arrows, poked him with primitive spears for awhile ( broke 5), and that thing broke through a foundation, two walls, chewed off two ramps, damaged everything!! He stopped a few times to give me that “REALLY?!!!” look and continued to destroy. Got on the rudder and took off. He swam after me destroying more and I couldn’t get a way from him. Dragged him over jelly fish to no avail. So I dragged way out into the water then he swam off but came back twice while I was repairing. I was hoping a shark would attack him. Lol they probably cheered him on. I will get stronger and metal weapons and a crossbow then go say hello again. Maybe I should train some monsters and set them on agro and let them off. Fun stuff and now I jump at the smallest sounds. LOL.

I gotta say great raft build! I can't seem to get the cabin dino door to rest so just have normal walls. Also I find the trap area, is limited and hard for some Dino's to climb into. I had a hell of a time with a 120 female stegosaurus. Took about minutes for me to move the boat enough for her maybe 3 by 5 instead. The boat is quick and very easy to direct. As I found out today that a spin can do some major damage to this style of build. If you don't get it in right away. Lol

can add a beaver for a smithy, and a horse for a motor and pestle, won't count as a structure, that's what I do. Those mounts don't take much room.

Nice raft build. Will have to borrow from your design next time I make a taming raft. One small tip though, you can speed up the process of sinking foundations by placing an initial pillar while driving the raft. Just have your wooden pillar on your hotbar or even already active, and hit E to drive your raft, then place the pillar, adjusting exact location as desired. This first pillar will already be 2-3 steps lower than your first foundation in this video, and if you don't change its location it will be perfectly centered. Also as you can see in your video here, using pillars next to each other to lower them places them 1/2 foundation apart, so that is how you can choose whether you want the middle of the raft (left/right) centered with foundations, or between foundations.

yeah but you cant place pillars left or right a half step / only front to back. So doing the ride with it in hot bar doesn't work at all for a 4 wide raft, only for 3 wide.

Heh, yeah you can. Like I already explained, when you are using just pillars to lower foundations, you are placing them 1/2 foundation apart. So when you start placing foundations, you go off a pillar 1/2 step left or right, instead of the pillar that is centered. :)

Ah sorry, I see I read over your comment too quickly. You can indeed place pillars 1/2 step apart side to side; that's how I usually do it. No problems. Not trying to tell you you're doing it wrong, was just trying to offer helpful advice. Carry on. :)

Hi erm i would like to point out that the construction phase you might have been 1 row of foundation short for the driver seat in the construction video seems to be right in to the taming pen

I learned the hard way that other players can clip right through angles roves and ramps. Square boats keep them from getting above the foundation to clip through your walls.

I made this raft.i failed right side dinagate.dinagate door is obstracted by stone ceiling maybe.anyway thanks a lot.i like your video.nice bgm.nice talking.

Nice design! Sadly I can’t seem to sink the foundation that low, once I drop it to that level, the foundation is green when aligning it but it won’t let me actually snap it in place that low.

Thank you for taking the time to share your build. I have built several of these. The only issue i run into is getting the ceiling to snap in over the main cabin. I can never get the ceiling on . The red tile just drives me mad. Any suggestions on what I may be placing in the wrong spot to stop that from happening? edit:I just read someone had my same issue, Ill try using all Structure plus stuff.

yeah the structures plus works better, or if you have access to your server files you can disable "collision" for the building pieces, that will let you place the ceiling without a problem. from now on i need to do vanilla builds so everyone can do them. GGs have an awesome day!

Been using a juiced up version of thing on pvp it's got multiple pens for taming and everything but a indy forge

Nice build. I was able to place the gate and ceiling by replacing the ramp with a stone foundation. Used it to collect Sarco's... got three on the first outing but holy crap it was a mess... the lunge is killer. Carno's are cake with this. Allasaurus.. kinda like Sarcs a mess but omg fun. Rex... hehe yea we got one ... lots of screaming ... we renamed one of our tribe members to kibble.. Got a Stego but as well In panic mode you might just open the gate to your safe zone... I suggest scrapping that and building a man door... F'ing raptors... it was nice to learn that you can flip the direction of the wall piece with the triangle.. and that if you stare at the foundation you are standing in front of the wall will snap to that foundation not the one next to it. We are on a private server now and have made hella changes to this after i increased the piece count on a raft to 99999

Am just building this now and this suggestion worked for me as I could not figure out why it wasn't working on my PS4

Just be aware of sarcos or kappros that are sitting at your boat level in the rivers, they can phase right into your cabin as you pass by them.

it's a nice raft

I remember building this on a pvp server not so long ago and everything was fine (other than Carnos jumping on the raft and destroying all my stuff through the walls) but when I try to build on single player I cannot place the second dino gate and adjacent ceiling and hatch frame as one always obstructs the other.

Very nice build!! Is the dino line-of-sight aggro why you didn't use more glass for the hut? Lol I found very quickly that it can be useful to have the rudder indoors btw. The very first outing with my houseboat on the Center map (still singleplayer) I was cruising along the coast of the redwoods, just chilling. Apparently aggro'd a swarm of bugs from a fair distance, got absolutely wrecked at the rudder, spawned back in the house part of the boat to get it back... and found I had no way of getting rid of the bugs buzzing right outside the door... LOL Took me building another boat at my still tiny base to sail back there to get the original boat. xD

Great design... but did you notice with the 2nd raft, the rudder is a bit further back than it was on the template ? It's right at the taming pen wall. Was that a mistake b/c I think your 1st raft, with the rudder inside the living quarters, is what you meant to do on the 2nd ?

Dude grate vid. I'm just woundering how did you get the two corner foundation for the taming part to snap. I cant get the ceilings to snap say no foundation found

Nice upgrade, although this version still has the one weakness i underlined in previous version : obstacles will knock your dinos through the walls out of the boat. you'd need to have the floor of the taming trap at least one wall higher to avoid most rocks, lost rafts, and water constructions. it's even more critical for a raft meant to set sail in rivers. Other than that, nice build. ;)

I have, couple times, specially when going further into said river to look for beavers to trap. Traveling back to the sea would usually be a nightmare. This also applies to dino carriers, as they are essentially the same except for the ramp and roof. :)

I'm good too, if i say so myself, but sometimes you just can't avoid it. In my case, having a low render range did not help avoiding in time that big ass rock that was almost splitting the entire river, for instance... :p

Doesn't really make that much of a difference tbh. Too many things stick up 2+ wall height, or even higher (large rocks, swamp trees, etc.).

Did you make the room bigger where you travel in because it seems like you built a wall touching the rotor and later in the video it looks like it’s back of space

Couldn't get the roofs on as they were obstructed by the second dino gate. Demolished the gate and tried putting the roofs on first but then couldn't place dino gate.

Thanks for the tips ! Any having trouble with attacks to the main raft with the bits exposed ? ie., the front logs and side indentions with ramps ?

the only thing that will attack you is leedsicthis in the deep water, that whale will wreck you in 4 hits so stay in the shallows sailor

every thing in the build went perfectly except for the lower ramps, they wouldn't attach for lack of foundation, any clues?

love the music! maybe on one in the future builds, you could put the "lifestyles of the rich and famous" intro music. gotta be a bit older to know it, but I play ark and I know it, so there is someone. Thanks for the build ideas! I have been looking for a good taming raft.

I am curious.. What if you ran a catwalk instead of jumping to the other side. Would the dino still fall into the trap?

I would make the top of the living place a landing pad for a pteranodon

i would make a test raft and see how many it takes to push back a leed. im sure it takes more than two but i have read it was a successful tactic

the build is great, but I have to build it again because it was destroyed by an alpha whale, that hit it twice, I don't know if I did something wrong or it glitched and hit the raft.

Check out the updated foundation method and update your video. Much quicker and cheaper too

ive gotten to the part where we lower the foundations. i lower them exactly like you do except when i push to set the foundation down it doesnt set. its highlighted green but it wont set down. could they have patched this?? i do it exactly as you do but its the last part of setting it down where it wont set. any tips? do you think i can make this build without the 4 foundation starting off in the center of the raft? sorry if i dont make sense

since a patch months ago you cannot attach foundations to the underside of a ceiling unless the server has it enabled in the server settings. or you might be able to with structures+ mod

what kinds of dinos can you trap in there? I figure it has a size limit, like no spinos for instance >.>....

no spino, but if you take the opposite slants off you can get a rex, you just have to remove the gate to get him out

I got to the part at 7:36 playing on Xbox One and the foundation can't be can't be placed because it is obstructed. I tried multiple times even with more than one raft with same result. Boat is out in deep water. Is there anything I might be doing wrong? Placement looks dead off to yours but in red. The ceiling and trap door also won't connect to the dinosaur gateway on the Xbox One. For some reason it makes that space half it's normal size gives the same notice that it was obstructed.

Could this design work with the S+ tranq turret system?

Any tips for getting the ceilings next to the Dino gate in the hut to snap? Right now the gate seems to far into the hut for me and the ceilings won't snap because they are clipping

I failed to realize we had structures plus on the server when making the video , it has no clipping and can overlap.

How do you get the zoom out view like that? Mine only zoom out a little bit and the dino door keeps blocking the view

Can you use the motor boat too?

Ok I'm horrendously late but this raft is amazing definitely will be using this but do you have any rafts for flyers say argys for example?

i easily tame argys with this rafts by locking them inside the main room and shooting it from taming room

It wouldn't let me sink the foundation all the way to the deck, and nod I can't access the rudder :/ did they already patch this?

So in the front sides of the raft those 2 foundations are just asthetic right? I'm gonna try to stuff some storage boxes in there and I dont think ill need those but I want to be sure before building jt

i just built a new version of this raft on my last twitch stream. we widend the cabin 1 foundation both sides "works alot better,and detures sarcos and wolves on the side." ditched the gates "looks way better" come check it out twitch.tv/kortniechan

i'm using a structures plus glass sloped roof, it has as much HP's as a stone wall. I wouldn't recommend using greenhouse walls they only have 100hps

Hmm, i was thinking you would be getting the "to far from raft" message. I know i have made it go 4 foundations back from the rudder before. try replacing all your foundations but move them a just a hair forward? i know the method still works i did it last night with vanilla materials, good luck man

This is a really late reply but for anyone else who encounters this issue and have Structures Plus make sure there is a setting in your gameusersettings ini that looks like this: [StructuresPlus] NoFoundationsRequired=true

This looks great, but can it fit even bigger creatures like rexs?

Built almost everything on here but I can't get the 2nd Dino on bcuz the ceiling are obstructing it. If I put the Dino gate first then the Dino gate would the one obstructing the ceilings

You need to have water under the foundation, it can not touch the sand the it will break

the motor boat is no different than the raft. its all interchangeable.

8:35-8:50 Keep having trouble with the corners. No matter how many times I tear down and rebuild it keeps complaining about not having a foundation. (single-player with custom settings, so build limit isn't an issue) ... Ah...found the issue. It doesn't work with Structures Plus foundations, need to use vanilla ones.

when i made the vid i didn't realize i was using structures plus. they have no collision detection. If you have access to your server files you can switch vanilla to no collision and it should work for ya. srry bout that

I had to tear down the dino gate and hand place it further forward. I've got gaps at the roof and the front wall and the back door is blocked. I haven't got a chance to use it yet but I'll try using the door into the living quarters. After a dino wrecked our land base we are trying out our sea legs. Will let you know how it goes. PS4 btw.

Structures plus glass sloped roof. you could use any sloped roof.

I can't place the lowest sections of the ramps on the sides. No foundation support. I have done everything just like you. Have the foundation support mechanics changed since this tutorial was done?

Yes Ark has had a few updates changing the allowances on raft builds. If you are able to play on an unofficial server with the mod structures plus you will still be able to duplicate this build identically with a few server settings in place.

@@Jeppehansen81 make sure you have "Disable Structure Placement Collision" true and "Override Structure Platform Prevention" true that should enable more freedom on rafts and platforms also when expanding the rafts with the thatch roof method "USE VANILLA ROOFS AND FOUNDATIONS" i have found the s+ ones wont let you do it anymore. took me hours of yelling to find this out LOL good luck

So I've tried this recipe exactly piece for piece, same orientation when placing but when I try to add extend ceilings from the front left foundation at 8:20 is says no foundation snap point nearby. Any ideas?anybody?

really the front is giving you trouble? are you using thatch roofs? it should work fine up to 4 foundations away from the platform.

Yeah, I got it to work with vanilla pillars and foundations. For the life of me, I couldn't do it with S+ items. I wonder if something broke in recent updates?

I built it last night and had no issue with foundations. However, do note that when placing the front, the two outer that ceiling won't place until after you place foundations on the two inner ones, since it would be at a diagonal to the previous row of foundations due to the gap where the ramps go.

19:24 No matter what I do or how I try to place the gate, it wont let me place the ceilings clipping into the sides of it. "Obstructed". Playing on official server.
