Commentators giving Puertas a little too much credit. He's tough as hell, but man did he take a beating. I don't know what they were talking about 2-2 going into the final round. Superlek won every round and pretty much every exchange. Great fight though. Both guys went hard to the end. Much respect.

I don't think dj likes superlek very much, he was being very critical of him.

The most impressive thing about this match is the resistance of Puertas to the knockout, insane.

Puertas is really a good boxer, and I admire his boxing skills. Superlek is good at kicking. Both are good fighters.

It's why I love good matchmaking. Ufcs about who can we promote for more buys. Hats of too them, it works. They've made alot of mistakes on a couple fighters careers.

I’m excited to see the Haggerty/Superlek matchup, but c’mon they have other kickboxers who also need to fight.

Roughly the same age, (31 and 28) Puertas has only 42 fights under his belt whereas Superlek has over 170 fights. That’s the reason why he is more complete. Western fighters have two things more superior over Thai fighters, power and size. There is no arts and technics because these two things can’t be taught in just 30 something fights.

Man, I can't believe Puertas could take all those hits.

Very good spirited fight, very close. Think it must be hard sometimes for a Muay Thai fighter to adjust to a different set of rules, especially when clinching forms a big part of their everyday training.

Super that was just clenching away , But also at the same time getting great hits.

Ref allowed far too much clinching and didn't do enough to enforce the rules, he should of been penalized a bunch of times. Good fight regardless but if you going to ref it like that just put it under Muay Thai

@@Dayan_D Not at all. Clinching will happen when two guys are engaged in close range while constantly moving forward. Which is what Superlek did with his relentless forward pressure. Running away is avoiding the action altogether. Boxers clinch all the time. Tyson Fury comes to mind. He has a boxing style with lots of clinching that has gotten him several knockdowns in his career. There are different ways to prevent an opponent from clinching. They can either use their strength to push them off or they need power and accuracy with their strikes to prevent their opponent from getting too comfortable in their range. Puertas wasn't able to because he kept whiffing most of his strikes.

@@saint_4444Before this fight, Superlek injured his leg and wrist. His team convinced him to withdraw from the fight but Superlek insist to fight because it is a match for the belt. Therefore, the performance isn’t really impressive but now he improves so much that he outclasses the great kickboxer like Takeru who is better than Puertas.

Superlek would clearly win it if it Muay Thai clinches and elbows are allowed. The kickboxing rules and refereeing actually saved the other guy from taking even more serious damage.

If 5 rounds, the Thais always slow down on the first two round. But Puertas put the pressure high since the first round and they both look tired on the 4th round. And Superlek empty his tank when Puertas wobble, so he isd also tired.

The yellow card from the ref was a wrong decision

The Spaniard didn’t take the opportunity to knock the Thai out. There’s plenty of time where he could just swing for it when the Thai was against the cage. You can’t win without knocking the Thai out. The judges are usually bias.

IDK I think Puertas deserved it. Superlek went too heavy on that clinch in the end. Props to both though, those were some heavy shots.

There must have been like 35 clinches initiated by superlek. He still would have won the fight without them but he should have had one point taken from him.
