As we approach the middle of summer, the fishing in Long Island Sound gets better week by week. On this particular day, I bring the fly rod out to a jetty along the shore of Connecticut, and bring a few different species to hand. Size was lacking, but fun to get the rod bent nonetheless.

If you have waders or don’t mind getting wet then I’d recommend short beach or the autobahn society bird sanctuary on the other side. Quite a hike but some dudes I know hammer fat stripers on the fly constantly on outgoing tide over there

I’ll have to check that out, I’ve heard of some big fish being caught down that way.

Sick video! Been hammering stripers near farfield but haven’t had luck targeting any other species. Any tips?

Thanks! I’d say just try to find the sand, I know that’s where you’ll likely find the sea robin, and wherever there’s sea robin, there will typically be fluke nearby. Definitely recommend using at least intermediate sinking line as well. But sometimes it’s all about being in the right place at the right time. Tight lines.

@@FelixMerm-rf9hr Hammering stripers is a great “problem” to have imo man, I’m a refined expert in getting skunked whenever I target them in CT 😂
