Lots of CPR fishing practiced Catch, Photograph , & Release. Done correctly it means the fish survive and will grow bigger for propagation and other people to catch in the future. Fish brought up from deep water do need to be ”burped” to prevent barometric damage.

Horsewrangler many/most of these comments are from folks who have spent significant time on the water. Some of these comments, especially regarding catch-and-release VS keeping a fish for dinner, which is not likely going to survive, are bang-on. And as an angler myself, I kept asking myself why these two would continue to roll forward after setting hook on a fish. Cheers.

  • @californiadreaming9216

BW-ew7ng please consider the parameters of that rule and of your comment. If a fish is foul-hooked (snagged in Canada, eh?) and has a significant injury, what is the likelihood of it surviving? Why not turn it into fish n chips? Because Big Brother says otherwise? Yeah. Okay.

I was watching that on my TV and I got on my cell phone to comment and say that exact thing. Those fish absolutely will not live when you bring them up into that warmer water column. If that fish is in that warmer water column for more than 30 seconds he's a gonner. And I'm not blowing out of my ass I'm 54 years old and I fished trout and salmon a long time. There is no big deal that is dead it's just a shame you didn't get to eat it but you didn't know any better..
