Epic Armoury Imperial Gambeson

This bestselling Epic Armoury Imperial Gambeson is a padded long-sleeve coat covering the torso from neck, down over the hips on front and back. It can be worn on its own or serve as essential padding under mail or armour. The gambeson is donned like a jacket and closed on the front with a system of cotton cords, allowing the wearer to customize the tightness of the fit. The arms are easily detachable by untying its cotton cords on the shoulders and sleeves, each cord secured through long-lasting brass eyelets.
Thick enough to serve as its own armour, this sturdy gambeson is constructed with heavy layers of fluffed cotton canvas sandwiched between dyed wool on the outside and softer cotton lining on the inside. All these layers are stitched together in vertical lines, keeping the padding in place and mimicking a classic European high-medieval style.
Though of European cut, gambeson or quilted-style armours have seen world-wide use since antediluvian times, making the Imperial Gambeson a great basic armour with a range of possibilities regardless of time and place.
Available in Beige and Epic Black, and sizes Small, Medium, Large, and X-Large.

How does one size a gambeson? If I have a 36" waist do I need a 36" waist gambeson? I ask because some of them I see have a minimum waist of like 40-42"; but then I read they are supposed to fit snugly. Thanks!

I am quite new in Larping myself, but own a Epic armoury warrior armour and imperial Gambeson as well as some accessories now, which make me very happy. I would really recommend not to save money on the gambeson. If you choose some cheap plastic material, it will smell within short time wearing it. If it is too large at your waist, it will look like a ridiculous Mini Mouse Skirt as soon as you put a cuirass on. I can really recommend the imperial gambeson. The only thing that is a bit annoying is that the sizes on the website aren´t saying that much, which means, that I would never buy a complete set, but all the parts seperately, and send them back, if you need a smaller/bigger one. Because of that I would also order directly at epic armoury. Their customer service is just perfect. My finished armour is now a mix of size S-L. Important about the Gambeson: The arms are not firmly attached to the torso piece, which means there is some tolerance for how wide your shoulders are. The waist isn´t easily changed, so you should order the smallest one that fits your waist and you´ll be probably fine.
Are your gambesons actually functional, like able to take a real hit?

They work fine for LARP, both light touch and for harder combat. By a "real hit" do you mean steel swords? If so we do not recommend them for this, though they will of course take some of the blow.
To whoever keeps deleting my comment about the falsely advertised color of this gambeson: I am going to keep reposting versions of my comment until you either give up or both videos are marked with so many comments that it is blatantly obvious that you are hiding even remotely critical reviews. Shame on you. (edit) I can't even put into words how disgusting this suppression of honest reviews is. Makes me wonder who else you've shut down to sell similarly dishonest products.
