Epic $500 2001 Yamaha YZ250 Project Bike Rebuild Timelapse
Спорт
I bought this 2001 Yamaha YZ250 for $500 from a guy on Craigslist. The bike was half torn apart when I bought it, with the engine already removed from the frame and the clutch taken apart. The guy told me the bike ran, but made a horrible sound. I tore the entire engine apart and 3 of the transmission bearings were sticky, which was the problem. I cleaned her up nice and gave her love where she needed it - very happy with the final result!
Bike is for sale in Bozeman, MT for $2,800. Message me on Instagram @kincadep if you're interested!

Kincade this is another absolutely beautiful build. You are a true master of dirt bike restorations. Have you ever thought about having a young apprentice work with you. I am sure at first it would slow you down but I’m sure if you found a person with the same dedication and hunger they would learn fast. Your videos bring me great flashbacks of the motocross races I was in back in the mid to late 80’s. I’m sure your video’s have many generations drooling but I know the GenX guys are truly Blown away. Thank You
I'll be damned, this was interesting from start to finish. Thanks for sharing!
Great work! Nice to get to hear it run at the end.

Ha, a fellow Montanian(Montana). I noticed that Bozeman location. Awesome video btw. Really inspiring.
Nice job man, you should be proud of your work.
Natural restoration, good job!

Thank you! No way possible I would have ever, put everything in the frame without painting it! And much less rebuilt the motor without cleaning the crap out of the casing an jug an got all that greasy dirt off it. I blast mine before rebuilding them so the outside of motor an frame looks as good as it did when it left the showroom floor. To much work to not atleast throw some fresh pait on the frame IMO but either way i give the young man props most people his age dont know how to change the oil! But he will have a dependable good running bike now!
Nice build. Had a 01 ya as my first bike. It was stolen out of my garage. Picked up another one the a couple weeks back. Gonna bring it back to life as soon as I'm done my yz450f.

Wonderful job!!
Dude ever since I've seen your video it inspired me to jump back on a bike I had to sell mine to my daughter liver problem she had 65 % of her liver removed she's healthy now praise God but in the process of a year I had to sell my bike to pay bills so we didn't loose everything we owned, so now I'm going threw the slow process of saving and trying buy a cheap one so if you know any cheap ones shoot me a message on here please bike was life at point you know what I mean now my family is life but doesn't mean I can't enjoy riding..
Awesome! Good job.

Thanks man! The restyle kits fit 2002 and up, and this is a 2001. You have to swap subframe and tank to make it work with a 2001 I believe.

Great video mate , big job but I’m Sure the reward of that 2stroke starting was worth it
Goodjob👍
I love it brother

You put parts in the oven to expand the metal but you can also put parts in the freezer to shrink them too.
Bravo!
Awesome build men 🤟🏻 what year front fender did you get?

If you hadn't make the gestures you did when the bike started, I would be sure there was something wrong with you. Beautiful job!
You weren't playing around dude!! Put this video with the bike when you sell it for +$1000 on Craigslist
Nice work! i just picked up one. Where did you get the graphics, seat cover, and what year is the newer front fender? The bike looks sick.
@KincadePavich

Braaaplive2strokes thanks man! Got the graphics and seat cover on eBay. Front fender is a UFO restyle front fender, though I believe 2009+ also bolts right up. There’s a TT forum on YZ plastics.
Where did you get that sticker kit from? I'm considering getting a graphics kit off Ali express, they looks good but just not sure about the quality.

It isn’t a $500 dollar bike, 2500 to 3k, but yeah you would definitely be able to get 3750 or 4k out of it looking like that
Sweet
Nice
Hey where do you state you stay in because I have a 400 ex I would love to be redid
What type of pads do you use on the drill?
Bike looks sick I wanna build mine to look similar to that how did you get those hubs and wheels to turn out so good
@KincadePavich
4 жыл бұрын
Thanks man! Hubs I used one of VHTs anodized "looking" blue spray paints with the proper primer. Rims on this bike were actually plastdipped (which lasts okay but doesn't survive a tire change) but the best route to go with wheels is anodizing. You have to clean them really well, but then it literally changes the color by some chemical process and they can't chip or crack. Shop here charges me $75 to anodize a set of rims.
@Rktman129
4 жыл бұрын
@@KincadePavich I might as well just get a new set of wheels my front is pretty beat up and bent but the hubs can be shined up pretty good I assume

Yes sir!!!!!!
It is possible to swap an aluminium frame on an old YZ like this one ?
Did the zip ties help hold it together? I finally got to my 01 250 rebuild, the left side crankcase (where the center fork goes on gets stuck) wondering how I can fix that without ruining it. Good case too
