    I literally just finished installing the Sport Utility kit. If you are somewhat mechanically inclined and have half a brain, you can do this. I'm a DIY mechanic and did this in about an hour and a half by myself with no clutch press. The video is a great instruction tool. The kit made a big difference especially in low gear. Pulled the front tires off the ground. Lots of low end torque. Just what I wanted. 👍🏼

    Hi Jason, The Sport Utility Kit for 27-28" Tires is the kit you want to use. Part Number WE425007 (for 0-3000 ft elevation). The kit will give you more bottom end and mid range, basically makes up for the power loss of the bigger tires. Top end speed will stay real close to what you have now but will get up to it faster with faster backshift and throttle response. It will also grip the belt better.

    It really depends on what tires you have on the machine if you will see a decrease in MPH for the kit you would need to get a good improvement. Usually with stock tires and up to 28'' you won't see a decrease but with tires bigger than that you would see a decrease in MPH to get good performance gains with that big of tire.

    Great video guys. Nice to see an actual technician giving directions. I will be purchasing a 2016 1000xp sportsman soon, what would you recommended for a clutch kit (0-3000). The stock tires are 26". I may go with a little more aggressive tread 27" tire at the most, later on. All terrain tire or at the most mud lites. NOT a pure mud tire. No other mods.

  • @EPIperformance

    @EPIperformance

    Thanks Scott. For you machine we would recommend two different kits, it will depend on how long you switch to bigger tires. For the stock size tires we would have you use the Sport Utility stock tire kit part number WE437280. For the 27-28" tires you would want to use part number WE437282. Both kits have the same amount of parts and price but they use different weights. If you call us we can give you more details on things you can do also. 218-829-6036.

    Thanks! The primary clutch would be the same between the different years, the secondary clutch is a little different. On the engine braking clutches you don't have to preload the secondary spring. You just compress the spring and install the snap ring so its easier to install the spring and helix. I hope that helps, let us know if you have any other questions.

I use low range and it's got the power but still worry about the belt. This is my first automatic ATV. I'm running the stock 25" tires but might get 26" when it's time to replace them. The Sport Utility Stock Tire kit would be the better for higher speed running. Not sure on the 4 wheel drive end of it. On the older machines it would do that if the oil in the hub was low or really dirty and if you took it apart and cleaned it it would work again. But on the newer ones not sure. Springs will vary depending on your tire size that you are using and the type of riding you are doing. If you tell us that we can help you better.

    Depending on the exact model and year and which green spring it is they can and normally raise the engagement a little higher then stock. It will come down a little once you heat cycle the spring from riding for about 20 minutes. Then it should stay consitantly there. Again depending on the spring and model they might be a lower engagement spring available, but I would suggest riding it a little and see how you like then. The higher engagement will give you more low end power and once your moving faster backshift and throttle response.

    chances are your bearing is going bad and locking up on your primary clutch. Remove your belt and try to spin the bearing on the primary clutch, if it doesn't move one way freely then your bearing is bad and needs to be replaced. When the bearing sticks it will want to spin the belt and make it hard to shift unless you shut off machine. If bearing seems good clean and inspect clutches and then try it again.

    Hi. I have a 2012 400 HO. I have put 30" Moto Monster Tires on this machine. A friend suggested me getting a clutch kit to pull them. I have searched for a clutch kit for this machine. I can't find one. Does EPI make a kit to fit cluches Primary 1322682 Secondary 1323015? Any help would be great.

    What would be the best performance clutch kit you offer for 2014 Polaris sportsman 570 that will be running a 26 tall tire?

  • @EPIperformance

    @EPIperformance

    If your running a 26" tire that is a lighter tire and made for all around trail tire use the stock tire kit. If its a heavier mud type tire then we would have you use the 27-28" tire even though your are 26".

  • @EPIperformance

    @EPIperformance

    2 ай бұрын

    The primary clutch is tapered but can only go on so far, so as long as you torqued it properly is shouldn't change. On some models there are washers either behind the secondary clutch and some behind the bolt the holds the clutch on, if any of these are missing if could change your alignment. If your clutch and belts are turning at idle also double check your bearing in the center of the primary clutch.

    My 07 450 with 26s goes up to redline before the clutch starts to move and didn't use to do this. Would a clutch kit fix this issue? Or is this a possible secondary clutch issue?

  • @EPIperformance

    @EPIperformance

    8 жыл бұрын

    Typically if its going that high before you start moving that means there is an issue with your primary clutch and belt. Something in the clutch must be binding or stuck, or the spider has loosened up and started unthreading itself. I would pull the cover off and start inspecting real good. Then go from there.

    After watching more of your videos I think the clutch cover is binding on the spindle and with high enough rpm it finally lets go and drops the rpm. So I may need a whole new primary clutch. It only has 800 miles on it.

    I would start with the 700 kit for your machine. in most cases it should work no problem. The one thing you might run into is the rpms being a little to high and then you would have to go a little heavier weight. But you wont really know for sure until you run it.

  • @EPIperformance

    @EPIperformance

    Primary clutch would be the same. The secondary clutch would be the same on all the non EBS clutches. Polaris uses two different clutch styles depending on if it has EBS or not. If you have EBS the kit install is easier because you don't have to wind up the spring, you just compress the spring straight into the clutch and install the helix. Hope that helps.

    +Ryan97Braz Our kits will give you more bottom end and midrange power and acceleration to get to your top speed faster. For stock tires kits the top end speed should stay the same, for over size tires and the mudder kits you might lose a little top end speed depending on tire size. Wit your 26" tires if they are a lighter trail tire we would have you use the stock tire kit. If they are a heavier more aggressive mud tire then we would have you use the 27-28" kit. You will also get faster backshift and throttle response ans grip the belt better then stock. I hope that helps. Thanks

  • @EPIperformance

    +Ryan97Braz You wouldn't want the mudder kit for that light of tire. Normally with the miud lights we would have you use the Sport Utility Stock Tire kit. If you didn't mind losing a little top end you could run the Sport Utility Kit for 27-28" tires. With those tires you might lose 5-10mph off the top but get more bottome end power and torque.

  • @EPIperformance

    @EPIperformance

    10 жыл бұрын

    it should spin one way and lock up the other way if your machine has EBS (Engine braking). Sometimes the little black fiber washer that goes between the bearing the fixed sheave of the clutch will break or wear out and allow the bearing to get spun around but the clutch. Its hard to see but you can look for that or to see if it is missing, from there you will have to inspect the clutch and all the bushing for any extreme wear to where the clutch wont fully open/close.
