EPA Coming After You In 2023? I ASK A LAWYER

    I wonder if it cost's the consumer anywhere from $2000 to $5000 to fix issues with emissions problems on diesel trucks if they are willing to make the manufacture's warranty the emissions parts for say 10 years due to the cost. The difference in cost to tear it all off verses fixing it only to have to fix it again later on down the road is not feasible for the average person. For for example they go after someone who doesn't have the funds to repair a truck that they paid over $70,000 for and have to pay out that much more to repair a failed emissions equipment. BUT they allow states to spray brine which is proven more corrosive and causes hidden fail points not to mention poisoning the waterways with more potent solution. Blows my mind that they don't go after the producers of the brine for creating hazardous environment for drivers due to the hidden corrosion that eats brake lines etc.. it makes no sense.

    the true enthusiast knows that emissions on will never be the same. i will also NEVER agree with emissions on being "just as good" or "better" because if one engine goes through regen, recirculates exhaust gas, and has all this crazy back pressure and then another identical engine with no regen, no egr, and a straight pipe that one is undoubtly going to outflow and overall just be a better engine than the one with all the stuff on there. i know i don't sound crazy educated in this but i am just trying to summarize. i feel extremely strongly on this stuff.

  • @beaversstumpgrinding3352
    @beaversstumpgrinding3352 Жыл бұрын

    In the 70's the car manufacturers were required to keep exhaust emissions cleaner, so what did they do?, they added plumbing and engine driven smog pumps to engines, that diluted the tailpipe emissions. No real reduction just an endplay around the new regulations... made by politicians that couldn't engineer a toothpic. What they never considered was how much polution the regulations created. Manufacture and design of the hardware on the engines took energy, rescources and creation of those parts all made emissions. Whats worse is, those pumps that were an engineering nightmare, are only in use the first five minutes of the engine running, since the catilitic converter was hot enough to complete the task of burning hydrocarbons. At which point the plumbing and hardware and smog pump are just dead weight that have to be lugged around for a hundred thousand miles or so just burning extra fuel to have them along. No imagine how much worse the EPA is screwing up the diesel regulations. One last note. Changing fuel to 50 cetane level instead of 40 cetane would achieve 90% of emissions requirements without having to add insane levels of engineering to vehicles emissions systems and achieve better fuel milage. Govt. making toothpics cartoon. kzread.info/dash/bejne/fKJozZSNgKywlpM.html

    I remember the 1960’s when every diesel truck and bus bellowed soot. We all had no choice but to breath it. I remember not being able to see the mountains 15 miles away because of air pollution. I know and agree that personal freedom is important but sometimes the greater good is even more important. Diesels are going through their infancy on emission control devices and there are problems. Gasoline emission control devices have actually improved performance and fuel economy and the air is much cleaner. Diesels are now where gas vehicles were in the 90,s. There are three times more vehicles on the road today vs the 60,s and I can always see those mountains. We will get there with diesel emissions too. It will just take more time.

    The problem with this line of thinking is that a majority of owners don't modify their vehicles. It's a small number that remove emissions equipment. Also, the emissions equipment that's in use on these vehicles is old tech, outdated and inefficient. It raises the likelihood of failure/reduction in reliability with the vehicle when there are better options out there. On top of that, the infrastructure that was required to install these systems(thinking about DEF specifically) and then maintain them has put more vehicles on the road, more production plants into business and more overseas involvement with shipping than ever. It's a racket, there are better ways to make vehicles cleaner while not killing their reliability/performance all while preserving the environment.

    @@fluffykittynoodles I disagree with you on the performance portion of your statement. Look at a 2003 7.3 liter Ford Diesel. It had very little emissions equipment. Compare that to the 6.7 Ford diesel of today. The HP and Torque of the 7.3 is 275hp and 525 ft lbs of torque. The 6.7 is 500 hp and 1200 ft lbs of torque.. The 6.7 has all the emission equipment and still produces so much more power. You have a valid point on reliability. I would be interested to know what you feel is a better way.

    @@jimm2442you're comparing apples to oranges. The 6.7 platform uses a MUCH higher pressure fuel setup, capable of costing $10-12k to replace when the pump goes bad. And it will. Not to mention ALL of the other reliability problems with the 6.7. Scr failures, def heater failure, exhaust manifold leaks, turbo failures, egt sensor failures, dropped exhaust valves, upper oil pan leaks and on and on and on. The 6.7 has a LOT of flaws. The truck it's installed in also, has a LOT of problems. Air conditioning problems requiring dash removal, water intrusion and leaks in multiple areas, sync system issues, blind spot radar issues, bliss camera failures, and on and on and on. New trucks are garbage. I know, as a certified Ford diesel tech of 20 years. Unfortunately. I used to be that guy saying Ford and Toyota is quality. Now, they are all junk. Especially Ford. To compare a superior machine in quality, fit, finish, engineering, value, to a heaping pile of new shit is laughable. $100k +++ piles of shit to be exact. 😂 Never, I'll drive my old smokey 7.3 and 6.0 trucks and use less fuel, and get incredible value for the hard earned $ I made. Go after the government vehicle's of all sorts (they don't run ANY emissions because of reliability) cargo ships and airline industries.

    If you're running a profitable business and buying a truck this year, ten years out doesn't make much difference. By that time you will either have another truck by choice or someone will come up with a bolt on solution or you'll be able to repower with a newer engine but one that's old enough to meet the minimum requirements. An example would be a 95 379 with a 3406B being repowered with a 3406E then maybe in 2010 it gets a C15 Acert, by 2030 someone comes up with a bolt on solution and suddenly your C15 Acert meets minimum requirements.
