    I’m a retired classically trained muso and a military band conductor . been so my whole life. I’ve never come across someone like you who knows and can articulate the concepts of Indian music like the way you do.I’ve attended numerous masterclasses. But You have an amazing gift which I believe is divine. Not many performers can teach and vice versa. But you do both so easily. And your practical examples demonstrate your intense knowledge of the subject. And to think that all of this is free……. Can only come from a passionate and generous heart. Keep it up. You have greatness and legendary written all over you. It’s my dream to be able to play my flute like the way you sing 😊😊keep it up. Would love to meet you someday just to shake your hand.

    We know Indian Classical Music is great. Its Divine and hence, asks for immense dedication to learn it . It just cannot be ones hobby. Now that makes it less popular temporarily but more and more you start understanding it the more you get immersed into its beauty and devotion. Anuja , you are doing a great job to explain its beauty in a mist fabulous and interesting way . This is a true devotion and dedication and servise to the Music. Wish you all the success in life and may you be remembered as a true and spiritual promoter of the Indian Classical Music. What actually happens in the practical world is that the learned people try to give themselves more time to refine their skills and then to showcase their art to the world but one should have some basic knowledge to be able to grasp and understand its beauty....hence you are doing a real great job... Lots of love and best wishes ❤️❤️👍👍🙏🙏

    Hare Krishna Anuja Kamat. Wonderful classes n keep uploading the good work. I started learning Hindustani classical music since year 2000. Your classes are very informative n helpful. Since you sang Hare Krishna Hare Rama, I would like to say something about this song. I am an ISKCON practicing devotee since 15 years. Although this song became very popular, this song was meant to mock the institution which was new at that time. They were trying to show that people take drugs n sing Hare Krishna, Hare Rama. Actually our founder acarya Srila AC Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada transformed the lives of hippies who were taking drugs into happies. Now this Hare Krishna movement is popular all over the World n we have completed 50 years. So chant ..... Hare Krishna Hare Krishna, Krishna Krishna Hare Hare, Hare Rama Hare Rama, Rama Rama Hare Hare, n be Happy.

    Indian classical music takes its roots from, and is rightly aimed towards, the philosophical and contemplative culture that inspired and gave structure to it, while I'm not sure that Western classical has "evolved" in the same way, or whether it has moved away from (or ignored) its philosophical and religious underpinnings, within a skeptical modern society, for a couple hundred years. Both cultures have modern- and contemporary-derived styles as a result of more commercial or "secular" pursuits over time (and in the West lots of imported influences), or even a self- or socially-conscious focus , I.e. not spiritual or contemplative, but the "spiritual" should never be cast away, culturally, or banished to some remote island of niche. It is the source. Same can be said, in my layman's opinion, of Negro spirituals being the Black American equivalent (with its more tragic origin and socially-conscious philosophy). It is contemplative in its own right. Many times the authenticity and battle-tested rigor of the old revitalizes the new with its focus on spontaneity and in-the-moment experience. That's what she's doing in her videos for Indian classical music: sharing the beauty, philosophy, and obvious technical rigor and excellence (which we literally hear!) as a real, present, relevant and current thing with meaning and impact, with both her local audirence,, who get it, hopefully, and the international audience who just enjoy it aesthetically. I appreciate and encourage that, rather than seeing what came before mystical and philosophically like museum information from stuffy, patriarchal, ancient dudes, (apply to any culture) and not giving it is contextual and present value (it has value). Sorry for the long post. Oh I'm a Christian too and totally get what you're hinting at.

    julien vandal Just one thing , as you know very well , it is wrong to say : hindustani "classical" music , not only because classical is an english word , it's also wrong to say western classical , why ? Because classical music is actually a period in the western "scientist" or "knowledgeable"music , from mid 18th century to mid 19th , then , come the "romantic" period . Nowadays , there is still confusion with the word classical.

  • @ThatsSoRavin

    @ThatsSoRavin

    julien vandal Like many words, the term "classical" has many meanings. In general, "classical" refers to something well-established or at a high level. In English, "classical music" can be used broadly to refer to any orchestral, opera, or high level music from any time period, or more narrowly to describe the "classical" era (19th and early 19th centuries). The Sanskrit term, shastriya to describe the music here, means "of the shastra", which is a treatise or codifying text. The English term "classical" is an apt translation for this, because it is connotative of well-described, high-level art forms.
