Ep11 Fitting Cooper STT PRO's & ProComp Predator 35's

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Now that we are nearing readiness for some epic expeditions, it was time to get a new set of tires for the ROAM Hilux. This is where Cooper Tires comes into the picture, they gave the the opportunity to select the tire I want out of their Three main Offroad Options, I take a look at the AT3 XLT, the ST MAXX and the STT PRO to make my decision. That new Rubber will be wrapped around an awesome set of Pro Comp Predator 35's to not only add to the look of the vehicle but have an increased load rating to handle the weight of the vehicle better in case of hitting potholes or ditches offroad.

I saw the first video of yours with the Jimmy yesterday and I loved the honest review of it considering it is yet to be launched in India and I was planning of having a mini offroader. After watching your take on it, I think I have cleared my doubts about the Jimmy. Today I viewed this one with the Toyota , more than anything I loved the matte greyish color on her. You have good color choices. Hope to see more videos. Your presentations are very calm, composed on the vehicle and how you build her up. That is something which makes me want to watch your channel. Regards.

Perfect wheel and tyre selection . You can get enough out of the wheel alignment to clear the mud flaps and not have them scrubbing with that combination of wheel , tyre and offset. I would still change the upper control arms to get better geometry in the alignment. This build is pretty nice and really sensible. Congrats mate.

Been Runnimg At3s on my fj for the last 3 year, out every weekend on the dunes and they run rings around the st, stt pro and ko2. They are probably the best tyers for soft sand because of the softer side walls and lighter weight and can run really low psi. Would not take risks on rocky terain though.

Love the wheel choice, they go really well with the build. I'm not personally a fan of Cooper tyres, as my experience with them and the ones they manufacture under other brands (like the ProComp MT2) I have found they only work until around 50% treadwear, at which point they become dangerously slippery on wet roads, and useless on rocks, almost as if they have a completely different rubber compound in the lower half of the tread blocks.

To me that sounds like aging of tyres . All brands have a shelf life. I find that rotating the tyres at 5000 kilometres and correct pressure s has got my tyres down to 70 percent wear but then they are old and hard and chip out so replace them at that time.

  • @tareskisloki8579

@@freakyaussy I do around 25,000km per year, my tyres don't last long enough for age to be a factor (yes, I do check the manufacture date when I purchase them). I have only experienced it with Cooper branded tyres, and the ProComp MT2, I used to use ProComp X-Terrain (not made by Cooper, but discontinued now) as well as several generations of BFG MT, they were all consistent in their grip levels from new to worn.

Hey Andries, at the end of each episode I show you whats coming in the next episode, so next weeks episode is the power upgrades. Chip & Tune + Pipe coming. 2.4 vs 2.8; the 2.4 with a chip, tune and pipe works out much cheaper than a 2.8 still

@@davidsmaruj6761 interesting, because they’re really tough tires. Bushlore use them exclusively now after try every single brand out there, and they have the lowest failure rates on the Cooper ST Maxx. So it’s interesting to hear you say that 👍🏻

@@RoamOverlanding I know. I’ve always loved the STT Pro tyres and the Cooper brand in general. They are great tires and it may just be done to individual user negligence of pressures instead of poor tire quality. All the best with your new set and looking forward to a thorough review on the tires 💪🏻

Makes sense. I found it quite challenging. But it's not an "overlanding prep" trail, it's more for guys to test their machines. The academy trail is quite fun though, just a bit short. I prefer trails now where you have a few challenges, but get to a beautiful viewpoint or camping spot. Hence overlanding 😁

Cooper?!?! Luckily you're sponsored and have some support. They do not have reps any more to support loyal customers. I've bought and recommended Cooper to MANY family and friends before and resulted in sales of 39x ST/Maxx tyres. Now I'm sitting with 2x damaged ST/Maxx tires AGAIN after doing 10km rocky farm tweespoor after doing only 25'000km on the set. Balance and alignment every 10'000km. I'm done with Cooper. For some reason they are now more expensive than BFG KO2, they used to be more affordable.
