Ep 18: Grenada to Martinique
We still have a few nice days in Grenada and Carriacou and enjoy it very much. Then we drive to Martinique via Bequia, where we wait for the new mast.
Enjoy the video!

It's awesome, that you put double effort in the videos in two languages. This means not only post production. It needs to record all sequences twice. I was not aware about this. Big thx for this.

Martin loses his mast while crossing the ocean and he keeps smiling. I’ve stopped watching other KZread sailing channel’s because of all the drama and click bait …”WORST DAY EVER ON THE WATER” (bird poops on boat)……..”ROUGHEST SAIL EVER” (15 knot winds for 20 minutes). Stay classy Martin. Anchor beers forever 👍🏻😎🇨🇦

You are such a sweet couple ❤ The clip at the end when you showed the new mast mounted was soothing to watch. A sailboat without a mast is like being castrated I would imagine. Thank you for sharing positive vibes. Would you consider keeping your boat in the Caribbean longer term? And just fly down to sail? Or are you planning to sail back to Germany? Thanks 🙏

So glad to see the new video! It's helping me keep my sanity. Right now it's -8°F, with 25mph winds and a half a foot of snow on the ground, here in my neck of the woods. I cannot wait to hear how the mast installation went. Until then, Merry Christmas and Godspeed.

You made it, and without drama. (You have had enough of that.) Excellent! It will certainly be more fun in the near future with a mast and sails. BTW, I just purchased your book. Have a wonderful Christmas and New Year.

@@mjambo697 Hi Martin; I just purchased and received your book, which I am very much enjoying. A question: What don't you like wind vanes? Regards, Ron
@mjambo697
@@roncanizares9966 Thank you! I have considered a windvane, but I am not sure if that works on Jambo as I could not install it at the centre of the stern because of the swimming platform. And I am fine with the current system working even very well in rough sea. Never change a winning team! Best regards 😀⛵⛵

@@mjambo697 Hi Martin: In American slang the saying goes; "If it ain't broke, don't fix it". I also have a swim platform on my boat, but I decided that I wanted the security and redundancy of a wind vane, so I got a Windpilot Pacific, a great product. (I have a Raymarine below deck autopilot.) I had a SS steel plate made that was 10" X 40" and bolted the Windpilot to the plate and bolted the plate to the hull with the bolts outside of the swim platform. This, of course, rendered the swim platform unusable, but I didn't use it that much anyway. I'll send you a photo if you are interested if you provide an email address to do so. The thought of me going below to change a autopilot motor or its drive if it is "blowing stink" (more American slang), is extremely unappealing to me. Best regards, Ron
Nice one Martin... (I was wondering how your mast replacement was getting on) Looking forward to seeing you sailing again.

ps: I recommend adding some running back stays (3-quarter aft), to provide additional temporary support for your mast when on long passages.

It did look ok and there were not so many boats in the marina. Actually, my biggest worry was the distillery. But it did not open the waste water valves 😀
Merry Christmas Martin, the new mast?

@mjambo697
